Alright, threw all the fanfics into the OP basically as presented by people and updated the fanlist.
PM me if I screwed up horribly anywhere.
EDIT: At the post right above me. Everyone I know knows I watch MLP:FIM, those who have abandoned me over it where never fit to be my friends anyway, those who have accepted it have gained my respect. There no shame in what you choose to enjoy, whatever others may think, there is only shame in having done wrong. Watching My Little Pony is not doing anything wrong, thus, why should I be ashamed or care what others think because of their preconceived notions. I would argue that its almost our duty to make an effort to break them out of their narrow minded world, if only to accept that people can be different.
In the end what matters to me is that I can be at peace with myself, if others want to think ill of me, then so be it. I will never lie or hide what I enjoy to save face or avoid the prejudice of others. To do so would be to make a mockery of myself.
edit2: Wow, I ramble, a lot, I hope that makes sense though ^_^

Great post, it made ponytastic sense don't worry. I have also found that my friends who can accept or even embrace my broniness are the ones who are my real best friends anyway. Luckily I haven't run into anyone who really looks down on me for it! That actually surprised me a bit, as my town is quite "don't mess with the flow". I guess MLP is just a bit too unexpected for them to even know what to think. :D
Your last paragraph was spot-on. I'm tempted to use it as my sig! In the end all that matters is that these wonderful ponies make me quite happy.

I countered "well there's adult anime and cartoons too", she goes "we're not talking about that we're talking about kids shows and perverts who watch them". That association is heavy enough to drag you back down no matter what. A crafty sidestep of misdirecting self-deprecation, however, can work around that: "They're just a bunch of geeks hijacking the one good show kids got in a long time". Try to paint the mental image of a dorky-yet-innocent convention-goer who's too busy practicing his Klingon to care about anything else, and work your way up from there.

edit2: Wow, I ramble, a lot, I hope that makes sense though ^_^ I agree with this. Anyone that is closed-minded toward the show and refuses to listen to any debate on the subject (being passionate and not defensive is always the best approach to this), needs to deal with it. If they don't and decide to persecute you for your decision, then odds are they aren't worth your time. You can love and tolerate them, yes, but if they don't want to have anything to do with you, then let them think what they want to think. Being forgiving should they change their mind one day is always something to keep in mind, in a case-by-case basis (99% of the time for me; I'm a super forgiving person).
+ Show Spoiler [Roflfic] +Looks like I'm possibly done with act 1. 5 chapters, 13,600 words, just over 34 pages in Word. Once a few people look over it and I fix it up I'll post a pastebin of the entire thing publically for feedback. Act 2 possibly starts tomorrow!

Imo MLP:FIM is just like Pixar movies. Toy Story, The Incredibles etc. It's target audience is mainly kids but it's very high quality and there's little jokes hidden everywhere for the adults. That's why they're so incredibly popular, they appeal to people of all ages.
Nobody thinks it's strange if you love Finding Nemo, Toy Story and The Incredibles but there's somehow this big controversy about MLP.
Haters gonna hate I guess.

It appears that the only people who know that I like MLP are those who read my posts/comments in the Internet and my brother. I don't feel need to tell about it every friend or relative. If he/she asks I would simply reply, no matter of his/her possible reaction to that. And even if he/she tell something ridiculous like “Oh, you are hanging out with pedos!”, that's good, I know that he/she isn't worth my time.
Heh, many people still think I'm Christian, while I'm atheist/Buddhist. I don't need to tell them about it, because it doesn't really matter, also it could create some negative consequences. Comparing to this, telling about liking ponies is a piece of cake.

That's just because MLP already has an image written in everyone's head as that show that was more of a 20min commercial than a show. MLP:FiM is completely different, but it's hard to change people's mind.
Your analogy, however, is perfect. Just as much as you may like these "kids movies"(I'd also include some Dreamworks movies such as Shrek and Kung Fu Panda - they were pretty well seen here at least), you can also like MLP:FiM because it is good.
Well, I have a mission today. I'm going to a anime meeting with a few friends of mine, last year I went cosplayed as Hidan from Naruto(was awesome), this year I have no cosplay however. My mission? Convert people to bronyhood. I did it with a friend at uni already. Now to hoping I'll make it with male friends. Oh boy, this weekend is going to be hilarious.

The most prominent one is cared for absolutely no reason by anyone but as fuel for an up-and-down-jumping, sleeve-tugging "Look! Look! Adult™ stuff!"
What the show does have going for it is a simple, ageless charm that's easy for mature folks to appreciate. Appeal like that, by the way, is more respectable and much harder to pull off than cheap jokes at the expense of the younger audience, and attributing the success to the latter will just backlash on the misled target when they actually do give it a go.

They're not hidden everywhere and there's not that many, but it does have a few (Puff the Magic Dragon, punch has been spiked)
But I agree it's not a good point for arguments. You should try to win them over by talking about things such as the great characterization, animation and as you said, the simple ageless charm.

Pretty much that. It's difficult to explain to people that something like that can just be exactly as advertised (pink, all-girl cast, weekly moral) and that's actually the enjoyable part. So you have to pretend it has depth when talking to people.

Or pretty much my favorite: "The show is so silly and funny that it is much better than other shows out there, and it isn't forcing comedy like some shows, it is genuinely good."

Lol if the scenes just played the characters, Pinkie Pie wouldn't be as interesting as she is :D
That said, I wouldn't even notice if these jokes weren't there and I'd still love the show and the fanbase.
You know why? Cardiac exercises. Daily. + Show Spoiler [HNNNNNNNNNNNNG] +

(I think) No to both. Actually it breaks the suspension of disbelief when they do it too hard.

"…and then I said: "Oatmeal? Are you craz-" [Beat] Oh." works because it plays off Pinkie's characteristic randomness, but "Looks like the punch has been… spiked!" is just an isolated joke that might as well have been delivered by any of the cast.

That actually looks REALLY good, especially for pre-alpha. The animations are first-rate, as far as I can tell. The song is ponytastic also! :D
