Theon's actually one of my favorite characters and I really like his TV incarnation. Probably more than anyone but Tyrion and Arya.

All my non book reading friends who watch GoT keep talking about how Robb's going to come back in campaign to rescue his sisters and bring justice to his father. Its like "Oh wtf Ned dies, but his son rises in rebellion to overthrow the evil king". And then he dies. Brutally and insultingly.
To be fair, when I read the books that was pretty much my thinking. Robb will get revenge for his father's death. Then the RW happened....

Just because Stannis is my favorite character and I don't want him to be the wight-king Also because I think it'd be a cool twist that might even break the internet from all the fanboy rage Imagine the rage if Jon is just buried and never mentioned again. :D That would just be mean on GRRM's part. Having Eddard beheaded was shocking, but that was it's point. To set up Jon for so long, to hint at his backstory and importance, to create this entire quasi-mythos around that one character, and then to just kill him, bury him, and say "that's it" would just be.....confusing. And yet, perfectly GRRM. I kind of want it to happen just to feel the rage.

16 minutes in. Wow what a tribute to the pantheon. Never noticed that before.
Jamie Brienne is handled pretty damn well. Vargo or no Vargo.
Love how Tywin is *always* at work. He's never idle in a scene. Ah love how he puts it. ' I distrust you for who you are'
Cute scene between the girls. Wait WHAT :O
Season 3 really has picked up from a disappointing season 2.

Hey guys. I'm a huge fan of the asoiaf series. I've read all 5 of the books that are out and am working on reading them all again.
So I've just started watching the HBO series and am having a really hard time getting into it. I just can't take any of the show seriously because they leave out so many details and get so much wrong. The show isn't doing the books the justice that they deserve at all.
I'll admit, there are a few epic scenes, but the majority of it all I can do is cringe because nothing is depicted the way I imagined it. I don't know, maybe I'm just a book person and not a TV person.
Is there anyone else that has read the books before watching the show that is having the same problem? I've just finished the first season and think I'm going to leave it at that, which really sucks because I really wanted to like it.

If you thought that about season 1 (which was as good a book adaptation as you can get imo) you realllllly dont wanna watch season 2

Love the changes. Loras is far more believable a bait for Sansa than Willas Tyrell. This makes the set up a lot more realistic.

Agreed. Tywin's scene was amazing.

Tonight's whole episode was absolutely amazing! I was so giddy watching Dondarrion and the Hound --- that scene was amazing!!! I so can't wait until they fight + Arya tagging up with the Hound . Then to follow that scene with Dany, fuck yeah. So many great moments in this episode; bring on the rw!!
I'm so glad they made a show out of the books even if there are many things missing. Just purely spectacular.

Yup even if things are left out or changed it's still like 85% straight from the page to the screen and every time I watch it it still blows my mind a little with aftershocks of joy that they actually made a show out of ASOIAF

Great episode, but Varys was being a bit obvious in this episode. I just re watched season one and they do SO WELL with Varys and Littlefinger sending Ned on wild goose chases, whereas this scene with the Queen of Thorns and Varys talking plainly...
With that said, that scene started out fantastic and the end scene of this episode was really top notch.

yea that was the only part of the ep I didn't like....the whole Sansa storyline has been kinda mismanaged in the show from the start imo and this just continues it. Littlefinger getting out of king's landing was a pretty huge suprise in the books but they just kinda casually give away the plan in a throwaway scene -_-

Except for the part where he can't because he's a white cloak...

I was sooooo pumped for the Dany ending. It's by far my favorite part of the whole book series so far. Just amazing and they did an excellent job translating that to the screen. I was literally clapping like a little girl at a Justin Bieber concert when it got to the start of that scene.

I finally got to know a few people who watch the show and haven't read the books... now I realllyyy can't wait for episode 9 TRW. It's going to be so priceless, I hope there's a lot of youtube action of recordings of peoples responses to that episode.
This episode was pretty fantastic. Dany's storyline is finally picking up, the Craster's keep debacle is just how I pictured it, and there were some heartwarming girltalk moments too. I really hope they don't fuck with Coldhands. We need to see COLDHANDS.

I just go into that thread to laugh, those poor bastards have no idea what they are in for. Looking at the preview for the next ep, should be just as good as this one was if not better. The Hound vs Berric Dondarrion, a battle for the ages.

Willas is not supposed to be a bait. The whole idea is that Sansa wants to get away from King's Landing. She doesn't need convincing, and she doesn't have the privilege of being picky. The great thing about trying to hook Sansa up with Willas in the books, was that Willas basically a mediocre, but much preferable, option to the state Sansa was currently in. In fact, when the Olenan first mentions to Sansa, that she should wed her grandson, Sans thinks that the Queen of Thorns means Loras. And then then she is told Olenna means Willas, and its a perfect bring-yourself-down-to-earth moment. The book says Lady Olenna sounds "annoyed" by the fact that Sansa thought she meant Loras. "Don't be foolish, child" Olenna tells her.
The only reason I suppose I'm ok with the change, is that it makes sense within the constraints of a television series.
Edit: I went back and watched the scene in s2e10 where Joffrey is rewarding people in the throne room, and Loras does not offer to be in the kingsgaurd in the show, so I guess the idea of Loras marrying Sansa is not as foolish as it was in the books.
