It's like she can't control them if she starts to move them, so to compensate she doesn't move them at all. Makes her facial expression really dull, almost as bad as Kristen Stewart. Stone face... This is hilarious insight. Nice.
Edmure was definitely my favourite bit of the last episode. The Ramsey reveal is going to be one of thew season's highlight, I think.

It is the kind of mistake they can ignore and the show watchers will not notice I suppose. Scapegoating...and here I was avoiding puns from now on... Hoat was key to Bolton keeping his head. They are going to have him do the same despite the man in question being one of his own, something Tywin should never accept. They can still fix it enough in the context of the show by having Bolton punish Hoat/Locke for cutting Jaime. Not a great adaptation but good enough for the show I think. We've settled for worse elsewhere, so yep. I'm curious about why some book readers seem to be disliking Dany more this season. I've actually felt a bit "told you so" about her suddenly maturing into something much more like her book incarnation despite the massive blunders of season two. Things like the dumb comment on "we are not men" are actually the kind of thing book Dany might do, so as movie-Eowyn cringeworthy as it is I have to give it a pass. The loss in that arc so far was the Barristan reveal, but that doesn't impact Dany's character. I'm a bad judge of acting. That said, I have an ok sense of when they are doing very well at least. I appreciate the work of Dance, Dinklage and those types. I know Clarke isn't in that category. It is the 'ok' vs. bad that I can't really tell apart. Maybe Clarke is doing poorly rather than ok, but at least the writing does not seem to be ruining her so much anymore. My complaint with her is just that the actress playing her is not a great actress imo. Shes not believable when she tries to show emotion especially anger. This is opposed to someone like Stannis where the actor playing him is a good actor but the character is just written badly as opposed to his book counterpart. In the case of Dany its an issue of acting not writing for me I feel like she did well in season 1, probably because she is better at acting vulnerable than angry/determined. I still don't think she's bad though, and feel the writing was poor throughout season 2 for her entire storyline. The acting that has been starting to bug me is Jorah Mormont. At first I really liked him but now it seems like whenever he speaks he uses the exact same voice inflections. The same goes for Littlefinger.
Actually I quite agree with you on jorah. I started this post disagreeing with you but then changed my mind and rewrote it I was expecting the rhaegar line quite a lot, and he didn't deliver it in the same way I perceived it in the books. For some reason taht was one of the most awesome lines in the books for me.

You know, I so would like book-readers to film their non-book friends when the Red Wedding happens. The expression of utter shock and disbelief is going to be priceless. I'll try to watch the episode with non-bookers just to see their faces.

I am actually planning to do that. I just don't know how I would hide a camera. That stupid red light every camera has is just a giveaway.
Any way one can shut off the Macbook green light that turns on when the front camera is on?

Sadly I have no non-book friends around me, I guess reading the other thread will have to suffice for entertainment. Also moderating spoiling idiots

- Ending + song were hi-larious. Nah, i think that song was bad. Or at least really not fitting. At all. Not funny, not grotesque, nothing, just out of place. Agree. I loved the BWB singing it in the woods, but the rock version at the credits was just strange, in a bad way.

This is the entire reason I'm watching the show. It's going to be worse than Ned.

We knew exactly what would happen, and we were looking forward to it, and then it happened, and a second later there was loud music. Huh.
Now, for the non-book reader.. The ending itself was absolutely shocking and came out of nowhere. And just seconds later, before the shock even really registered, they were treated with another WTF moment in form of a totally unfitting song, yanking them back to reality. And that's just what was supposed to happen.
Me, I absolutely loved it. Though the ending is only #2 in my list of totally-inappropriate-yet-awesome-ending-songs. #1 goes to an episode of True Blood from the last season.

Idk, I watched the show with a couple other book readers and we thought it was hilarious. We knew what was coming with Jamie, but at first we couldn't tell what the song was. It was so sudden too.
Also the whole, fetch me a carving knife and putting him on a stump. A literal stump. That dramatic irony, it was so good

Ok, episode was awesome. When the final scene came, i thought, wait a moment, we are just like 30 miknutes in. Why is Jaime getting his hand cut off?

That was funny as hell in both the books and the movies to me. Jaime Lannister expecting the Goat to treat him according to his station and threatening him with his father. Then hey no more sword hand for Westeros' Biggest Dick. He's treated like no more than a lowborn prisoner who has the luck to have some worth to his captors. He deserved the irony.

Also contrast that with what the reactions to Joffrey's wedding will be :D. I know I'm going to enjoy it.

They're handling this season much better than the last one. Could be simply because book 2 was too big to fit in a season.
I'll just have to pretend S2 doesn't exist.
As for adding some content as well as opinion, is Brutus from Rome supposed to be Edmure? I'll forgive them because it's a good way to develop a character for a strong actor but he really is nothing like the book?
Worst case scenario is that they keep Robb's wife around after his death, terrible actress, lazily written crap character, obviously not as horrid as "Roz" but comes pretty close.
|
I don't get how Edmure isn't like he is in the books, we've seen all of about three minutes of him, and he is prideful and short-sighted that we've seen thus far.
|
Yeah, Edmure has behaved pretty much like in the books so far...
I thought the Blackfish was pretty awesome too. I look forward to his return in the books

Gonna be pretty crazy when they start singing the Rains of Castamere at the wedding, wonder if the non book readers will pick up that somethings about to go down :D

That wasn't the BWB, it was Locke's group
