Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Also... man the zombies really suck ass in this show lol what the fuck. I really think its starting to be a problem when a show about zombies has zombies that no one is afraid of anymore. I see the show more as a post-apocalyptic drama rather than horror, so I think the slow, stupid, and weak zombies fit in much better here. They're just threatening enough to make the environment hostile due to their numbers and spread of infection. Yet, they're weak enough to easily be evaded and subdued in low numbers. I can't see how a series like this would ever work with stronger zombies.
Like the firsts episode of the series, they were a menace. Now they just walk next to them, firing gunshots, like whatever (this episode lol, Carol taking all her time while these slug speed zombies seem to be on the verge of depression, no longer bothering to run. Then Daryl and co that walk next and through them and the black dude being piled on by them but still survives).
Come on where is the genius of survival, the careful approach to retrieve the meds. Nope this feel more like a L4D game, lets take a car run inside the herd and say whatever guys these zombies sucks just run through them. Ha big guy got caught by some of them, what a noob. Ho he managed to get to the safe area finally, GG 4 survivors. Just replace the unknown black man by a white guy in a coat and here you are, L4D2.
The problem with classical TV drama taking so much space (and non-zombie menaces appearing more as the zombie menace declines) is that this is not the strength of the show. The good part of it is the zombie apocalypse and the struggle. Everytime these writers put this on the background as non important, the show just blows as you just wait patiently through all the boring dialogues for the next action scene. And when like last episode it is only a crappy 5min scene, it just sucks. I keep watching because there are some really good moments/episodes, like the first two of this season but that last one was just everything that's bad about the show imo.

I do love the show, hoping for cool stuff, but the characters are so dumb at times.
Daryl in the car, as soon as he stopped I knew he was going to get surrounded by zombies, so reverse!!!
Then i saw the zombie wall, why wait another 10-20 seconds to figure out where to go? If he stopped and reversed ASAP, they would have been fine,
Every plot deviation in this show is because of someone doing something so completely stupid.
Carol running out to get water by herself, so fucking stupid ;/
God this show is so cringe worthy, do they think only 5 yr olds watch this shit and can relate to these characters ;/
We all have to vent about the crap so hopefully the writers get the idea to pick up their game, we love the concept of the show, but they need to step it up!

They should've go to latest sally for medcine with all this characters from left 2 right:
+ Show Spoiler +
Daryl (replace m4a1 with crossbow), Coach, Sasha and let Rick to wear some white coat, Bingoooo
Although our girl could potentially be Michonne
+ Show Spoiler +
pretty close, right? :D

Oh yea, by the way, I'm almost sure that everyone in this topic is psychologically ready for zombie apocalypse, and all the people in this topic could be more effective in formations and groups, so overall could be more successful in surviving and living.
At least we know what to do right and what not to do

Okay something just bothered me. Zombies eat animals, right? So where the hell did they get those pigs? They aren't a seed you can find... they needed to be alive somewhere. Do they explain it in the show where they initially got those pigs? Or comics?

Oh what you don't enjoy the completely avoidable artificial danger the writers create by making zombies build up on a fence and almost push it over?
But yeah I noticed that too. Bad horror movies follow this formula and unfortunately TWD does as well. People don't seem to die because of dire or hopeless circumstances. They just die because someone does something stupid.

Well in TWD's universe they did explain that there is zero concept of zombies. So that would explain why their a bit naive and have had/always had zero fear of some sort of disease fluid transfers.
I think if a zombie apocalypse did happen like TWD's it wouldn't be anywhere near as bad because we're pretty educated with zombie lore.

We'd be totally screwed though if it turns out you actually have to kill zombies by shooting them in the foot or something instead of the head : )

140,000 people die every day; that's 140,000 zombies a day. All it takes for a family to be killed off is someone dying in their sleep overnight. The government and local communities would probably be able to contain the zombie threat, but not before some major damage is done.

Not to mention the general societal chaos in dealing with the fact that a person close to death is a threat. I don't think a democracy could act quickly enough to enact appropriate laws without becoming a dictatorship.

If a zombie epidemic was real, the US gov't wouldn't even blink an eye before declaring martial law. Are you seriously trying to suggest the US military/executive branch would not be able to act within 30 minutes to an hour after being informed of the situation?

They found them at some point during their "in between" seasons. I think that is more of a "who cares" explanation. They skipped time to allow a build up at the prison without having to show them gathering people, going for supplies over time, farming, etc.

If that shit happened in a mass populated city (like let's say NY, because movies) the infected would be over 1M before 30 minutes. Maybe even more because of all the random deaths by firearms in the chaos, not just zombie bites xD
So maybe the army would be able to deal with it in the long run, but the city and anything nearby would be wiped out.

Speaking of which, am I the only one who thinks it's ludicrous that, supposedly, nobody knew that everyone was already infected, and that everyone who would die, regardless of the cause, would turn?
I mean, shouldn't it become obvious when grandpa turns after he died in his bed? Or when some criminal turns after he got shot by the police? Or when the morgue suddenly turns into a walker party?
Sure, it might all go somewhat unnoticed during all the chaos, but still, it should be obvious enough that people would at least assume that that's how it works.

i guess not everybody was already infected before the zombie outbreak but that the infection first had to spread. So in the beginning there are still people that can die normally but the longer it goes the more people are infected until the point that everyone has been exposed to the zombie virus.

I think that's likely due to the chaos of the situation. There probably weren't that many grandpas peacefully dying in their sleep, and if there were they were probably left behind/buried before they turned.
Or, if they died and turned in their sleep, they probably ate everyone else who was also sleeping lol.

I for one would love to watch The Walking Dead: Rome 2013, with Phalanx formations and historically accurate battle plans. Oh and don't forget watching them mill wheat for 30mins every episode, cos fuck me if I don't have to know EXACTLY where all their nourishment comes from. Plus then we can also have the 15min segment where they slowly move out with shields and dig a little part of a trench every day.
Come the fuck on.

I would assume between from start of infection to decay of society and communications, many of the people on the show didnt see people die of natural causes

I honestly would. It'd be a hell of a lot better than watching a bunch of squalling idiots run around in a grocery store with zombies dropping on their heads and actually managing to get killed by them. Honestly, TWD at this point reminds me of that scene in Austin Powers where he's standing there in the warehouse and that guy drives towards him with the forklift or whatever that vehicle was in super slow motion. And they turn it into a hilarious dramatic sequence. Except in TWD they aren't kidding. The super slow forklift actually hits people. And kills them. And then Austin Powers spends half a season sobbing about it.

Sounds awesome to me! + interaction with multiple other groups.
better than weird zombie flue that either kills everyone and the show is over or they find an antidote and move on as though nothing had happened. so I'm saying this entire zombie flue plot is irrelevant.
