I don't really understand the way music genres are categorized nowadays. I would argue that the artists listed in the OP are considered true EDM. But now pop music is largely starting to become EDM. Arists like Rihanna and LMFAO are putting out EDM sounding songs. The way I look at it, American music like Rihanna is considered pop while anything similar made over in Europe is considered EDM, even though they are growing largely similar to each other.
I can't really speak for the genre's markings/boundaries etc, so I'll leave that to someone more qualified
Was gonna ask though: anybody know of some really good uplifting trance, or quick/melodic dance artists? Examples would be....starlyte (on bandcamp), skillzmakekillz (on newgrounds), synergyc (by transquarergyc, on youtube), maximus techno (the song "the affirmatif" comes to mind). Not to make you work really hard just for a rec, but...yeah, I guess those are some examples. I find them amazingly good but only really stumble upon music I like haphazardly. Thanks in advance~

It seems like what you'd consider pop focuses more on the singer/performer, whereas what is thought of as "real" EDM focuses more on the music itself or the producer.
Hello electronic dance music posters. I am not the biggest fan of electronic music (we exist) but some time ago I heard a ~40 minute track with some in flames song in it I cannot remember. My question .. where would I find electronic music mixed with metal or if someone even knows some tracks, that would be awesome.

If you are looking for great uplifting trance, I've got 1 word for you: TRANCETASTIC! there are like 60 1 to 3 hour mixes in Youtube, each of them has track lineup in the video. The guy accelerated each track to 145 BPM and it gives it so much power. Some example of the tracks:

So fucking jealous... Tomorrowland is pretty close to where I live and is probably the closest thing to EDC in Europe, but tickets are sold out anyway, so meh.
