The battleview has great potential. Get rid of some detail, and make death/buyback obvious, and I can imagine really looking forward to it in big battles.

All the BattleViewer has done in its current state is detract from the actual going on while also blocking existing information. Hero HP bars are already available at the top of the screen as well as buyback status. This should NEVER be blocked. Fights also tend to happen across the entire screen or more and the side portrait/spell cds just block peripheral action. Even if there isn't anything going on on the edge of the screen, it takes focus away from the center. I don't need to track to cd of every single hero's spells throughout a fight. It's just too much information. Good play by play casters are already calling out when a key disable/nuke/spell is coming off cd to change the fight. They will call out something like a Dragon Tail going off or a Rage coming off cd ... Anchor smash or a cold feet? not as important

The battle view is the answer to a question no one asked though. There was no swell of people clamoring for a new GUI that muddily tried to convey information. Looking at that its very very clear that whoever made it doesn't understand how good GUIs work. DotA conveys information FANTASTICALLY well between the UI, visual, and audio cues. If it ain't broke don't fix it. No one asked for this just leave it alone or guess what will happen?

I think people dislike the battleview for it's attributes. I think it's a cool concept, and it could totally work. But it needs refinement so bad.

i enjoyed the stuff on screen, it needs some refinement, but i can see it being a staple of dota 2

(the rune cam not so much lol or at least not every 2 minutes)

If you're not already aware of the runes and what's going on around them I don't think you'll really understand what you see in a camera either though. It ends up being useful to no one.

I like the split lanes cam, but rune cam and courier cam are beyond useless. I also dislike replays of teamfights without a live view in the corner, they've missed some important stuff from that.

well the only thing the battle view does is look fancy, it doesnt help understanding fights better at all. reasons are already listed, mainly that most informations displayed are useless most of the time (mana, spell cd) and in the cases they are useful, you still need to know the icon of every spell which kinda goes against a casual crowd anyway.

I mean, in "real" sports you don't see the screen get plastered with stats when there's a power play. American football at least keeps things extremely clean during actual plays. It's only in the aftermath you get the complex detail, because that's where they explain nuances.

I don't think I've *ever* seen an extremely complex popup mid-action in "real" sports, in fact. Maybe cricket or something.

Agreed , no way seeing all the information helps ... it clutters the screen and makes it impossible to understand unless you really know what you are looking for.,
