I like that they are trying some new stuff with this battle viewer but like a lot of people said, it contains too much information and is very distracting for the viewers while it is live. If it is behind shown during the replay, it would be better. Since its only Day 1, I'm looking to the improvements as the major goes on. If this wasn't battle viewer and was instead replayviewer, I'm assuming the backlash wont be as heavy.
Some of my thoughts below in a wall of text. tldr: learn to read all of it or just ignore.
Team total hp bar.
This is not a 2d street fighter style 1v1 game. The individual heros hp bar in it is also not clear. If it really have to be shown, at least make each individual hp bar their own colour to make it clearer. But we will run into problems like too much colours. And since we already have all 10 individual hp bars on the side, must we really focus on every part of the screen in a fight? Not all of us can do it. Look at top, look at left, look at right, look at middle, look at minimap, look at items.
I will prefer just showing it as alive, dead, bought back.
Player camera face. Show it after fights or during replays. Not during a fight. I'm not interested in seeing them "live". This is not a boxing match where I want to see their face being bloodied.
Rune camera. Courier Camera
We already got a text line at the bottom left. Ask valve to make it clearer or something. Rune cams are extra. likewise for couriers. We dont need to see them dying live. Just show the courier death animation or something if you really want to.
Heros skills cooldown timer
No idea about this. I dont even bother to look at it. It's too small and I can't keep up with the gazillion informaton being bombarded at me at real time. This really should be saved for the replays too.

Arguing that it is better for the casual viewer is inherently a bad argument both because it makes no sense and because in this case the execution of the battle viewer in no way helps the casual viewer.

the battleview UI makes me claustrophobic

My friend's GF, who has never played ever, was watching. I'm curious for her thoughts on it as a complete outsider. Does all this shit on the screen make an already daunting game a million times more daunting?

yea the resolution is garbage

When will community be satisfied? There's a difference between stuff like sound errors etc (low production value) and the battleviewer etc ("high" production value), I don't think it's weird that people could complain about both? Might be hard to believe, but some of us just want to watch some fucking Dota. I don't need or want any of this fluff. All this fluff is catered towards a more amateur audience. Dota elitists will argue that the standard client UI already gives you enough information i.e we don't need rune cam because mini-map already shows us that. But not all of us look at mini-map during a live game, especially those with less playing experience. If you guys want Dota to move forward and become more mainstream and recognised/accepted by more people, things like cheesy layouts are unavoidable. So we're becoming more like League, so what? League dominates all other games in terms of followers. Elitism will only do more harm to a growing industry like eSport. If you're not already aware of the runes and what's going on around them I don't think you'll really understand what you see in a camera either though. It ends up being useful to no one. My point is that someone might know that each rune does but doesn't keep track of the in-game time to check them every 2 minutes. Look I'm not saying whatever they're doing now is perfect but I'm 100% sure they're in the right direction. And I don't think disregarding all the these extra stuffs simply because ïf it's not broken, don't fix it"is the right mentality if we want Dota (or anything in life for that matter) to improve. Constructive criticism guys! DotA has been improving for over a decade. This isn't how we move forward. All cams should be controlled SOLELY by a professional secondary dedicated observer, not production staff. Let Weppas control the second cam and he decides when to cut into the main feed with something. He knows whats important and what's bullshit, let him make the call and hit the button to bring something up on screen outside of the main observer.
THIS 100%.
The best observer ever (the GSL obs in SC2) was so great because he could tell you everything that was going on because he was catching everything himself. He would pan camera to area of attention and sometimes use his mouse to circle an important upgrade being finished or a unit that was forgotten by a player. He would catch everything that the casters miss. We don't need to artificially present information on screen just for the sake of it.

don't tell me they are going to use this terrain the whole event.

They've been using it on the main stream for a few days. I'm guessing they're trying to push product. Check out this neato map you can get!!!!!!!
Usually tourneys avoid using altered maps at all costs. I'm sure Valve would tell them to knock it off immediately if they didn't want it.

Exactly, I'm sure its to sell compendiums and it's here to stay.

Is it still pay 2 win or did they fix that?
I think it's pretty, but I could never play with it because I find it distracting. For observing its fine but every other map is terrible IMO.

I use the terrain too, since they improved performance on it. But it could still be a bit better overall. But firstly I use it cause I think the dire side is well made (I dont like dire on the other maps)

so fata can use a DP. Add 1 more hero to his pool of heros.

hmpf, mvp getting roled and i dont see them having great late or mid-to-lategame potential.

MVP is hemorrhaging towers real fast

This lineup eats towers so fucking fast. But the real question is high ground while heroes/buybacks are up.

They won't go high ground for a long time. Not against 2 blink initiators.

i think liquid has to dodge fights a little more to win this out. qo has his items but Liquid is in a position where they can be more selective with their fights i think.

I don't understand why TL gets caught in their own jungle. Matumbaman goes there, wiith no vision, and MVP does this 99/100(going through enemy jungle from 6 mins and onwards).

Can't help but compare how good this all looks to the shitshow that was Shanghai
Literally everything is better about the stream
