I think one reason why the commentary on cs is the way it is compared to dota is how easy it is to identify who is the better player in cs. Cs is a game where pure individual ability is far more visible imo than it is in dota. You constantly get into duels with a player from the opposing team and you either hit your shot or you don't. Of course there are also skill differences between dota players, but it doesn't necessarily jump out the same way. A lot of dota skill comes down to what you do at what points, how you play together with your team, how you understand the team strategy etc. It's far better to talk about the game and what the teams did rather than just label a player bad or good given how many factors affect whether you can individually shine or not.

Also another thing is that I'm pretty sure in cs it's far harder for the "worse" team to pull off a big upset, which leads to a pretty clear hierarchy between teams. I haven't looked at relevant numbers really but I think that is the case based on following 1.6 very closely. Dota as a game depends hugely on your strategy and it is extremely snowbally compared to cs imo. Let's say you get slightly outdrafted and you screw up a rune fight. Just because of your heroes it can be incredibly difficult for you to come back into the game if the opponent is even somewhat close to you in level. Same story with all sorts of mistakes than can happen in a game. But in cs the game sort of resets after each round. Of course the money system is a big part of the game, but still as the better team you can easily start off the game a bit overconfident, go down 0-6 or whatever and then just start playing more carefully and win the game.

The fact that even teams that win major events often drop games in dota leads to a situation where you have to consider other teams as serious competition to them. If they would constantly get blown out it would be easy to just bash them on the panel, but that isn't what generally happens.

Yes, it is. Lots of maps i've seen with 0-8 and end up with the other team winning. The thing is fnatic is best at the moment and g2 is top 8. This will end like any Na'vi vs other tier1 dota team, utter stomp of Na'Vi

Every one of those 30 rounds has a time limit! So basically there is a maximum of time (not counting pauses) that a map could take. Because I'm not a CS:GO player I don't know what the actual time is... I found something about "1.75 min"
