nah, you are salty. OG is the undisputed best non-CN team in the world right now. navi is a brand-name that is desperately looking to regain it's former glory. both teams shared a serious underdog story, but OG is now the big dog. kinda sounds like every major sports story people love watching. there's 100% expectation for this match to be hype, and it was. so i think the "wtf 200k viewers" for a "shitty online qualifier game?!?" is pretty fucking stupid, because if you watched all 3 games. they delivered hype and skill that is far exceeding only "wtf 200k viewers" count. stop with your facetious comments towards fans of dota. it's just asinine.

He does have a point though. I am also surprised with the viewer numbers because navi has pretty much been written off as rubbish tier. I would attribute it to the return of artstyle. 4-0 coming into this series with credible performances in them. If this was PSM navi, I wouldn't have bothered tuning in (or maybe I would, just so to write yet another lengthy post on why artstyle shouldn't have left and PSM sucking). The numbers could also have increased after people found out that navi was actually doing pretty well, so they tuned in midway.

I mean, I was kinda surprised when they reached 130k viewers, as this is not a big tourney people know they should be watching, but I guess the news about how awesome the first game was travelled fast. Also, Starladder has a strong CIS audience (at one point I think the RUS stream died and most people from there went to dotastarladder_en), Na'Vi still has a following in EU/CIS and OG is the hottes thing right now, so it's understandable people hopped into this one readily.

Remember that as people saw that Na'Vi actually stood their ground the viewer count was growing and growing. Fast series have no time to generate hype because they're over before any storyline develops but this series had time to amass a high viewer count

Na'Vi's an eternally beloved team, thanks to their success early on in the game and their charismatic mid. OG's a hugely impressive newcomer to the scene, who's played few enough games that every one is kinda precious. They face off at what I believe is a pretty great time for all of Europe, especially Russia. No wonder everyone tunes in! I don't understand any of the surprise. It may be a small match in the grand scheme of things, but it's definitely one worth watching. Personally, I tuned in midway because I saw Na'Vi were playing and wanted to see what their new team was before leaving to spare myself the heartbreak of watching them suck again. I ended up being pleasantly surprised.
