So indeed, I now know that all of MVP's players grew up outside of Korea, and were not all that relevant in Dota outside of Korea.
How did the MVP organization do this?

isn't qo an actual korean guy?

He grew up in Australia, and that's when he got into Dota from what I'm able to tell. He had a team there but never did shit.

Could I have quick recap of how Secret-Ehome went, and whether they were worth watching?

Game 1 was a really good outdraft by Rotk and solid execution despite being behind early by EHOME (CTY takes over game even though he lost laning phase), Game 2 was Secret just tilting.

Game 1 Secret drafted a viper sf axe bane dazzle deathball and got close to 10k ahead vs gyro storm phoenix ww bounty, but EHOME delayed pretty nicely and after just one won fight they already looked in the better position despite still being down a lot of gold. Not that great of a game unless you like watching meh allin drafts fail.
Game 2 was pretty good, EHOME going support NS, getting an early lead with ta gyro vs am sf and never letting go of it.
edit: In terms of hype level when it happened, both are 10/10 though. Crowd was also way more excited about Ehome than I ever would've thought.
editedit: sb first game, not axe. axe was game 2.

Hasnt posted dor like a year tho i think I actually had Secret winning this tournament, with EG taking 2nd or 3rd with LGD maybe swapping places in the top 3. Everyone else was gonna be scattered and totally random after that, with possible upsets here and there. Now, that's still possible, but highly unlikely with how things are playing out. To a degree, alot of that came down to me underestimating the level of play that ROTK, Q, and fy are able to get out of their players. Xiao8 definitely was going to captain well and keep his team on a gameplan, but for ROTK and Q to get their younger players to play disciplined DotA speaks volumes of their ability to captain teams. You can see the absolute panic that happens to alot of the Western teams when shit does not go their way. EG and to a lesser extent coL are the two Western teams so far who do not shit a brick when they get behind. Alot of this is due to the trust that these teams have in their captain, and you can tell just by the way they play. Decisions are made, and everyone listens. You can tell that Secret for example was not on the same page, especially G1 after things started to fall apart. Really poor and undisciplined play from both Rtz and S4 in alot of those games. And let's not even talk about C9, we all know that they lost G1 completely due to undisciplined play, which is a 100% direct result of poor captaining. That shit does not happen (or very rarely happens) to a team like EG or LGD, because their captains simply do not allow it. You can also watch coL games and it's actually very rare for them to just totally abandon their gameplan and resort to undisciplined freestyling. Swindle doesn't really get alot of credit for his calls and his ability to make decisions; even though that almost every team completely outclasses coL on the individual skill level, the team plays absolutely disciplined, which means they usually end up winning more often than not even though alot of other teams outskill them at the core position. I agree with this, though I think Secret is still pretty likely to make a deep run. Their series with Col (should it come to it) could be an exciting one. I still find it hard to get over their drafting today, tho...

not sure what i'm supposed to be looking at here.

Wow I did not see these results coming (apart from eg-col), especially not all of them being 2-0s.

Their first draft was actually really fucking good on paper. They've played alot of Viper in the past, and with great success really. Alot of that comes down to S4 being able to just free farm and being self-sufficient while the supports can just free roam and either help RTZ mid (which he rarely needs since he mechanically beats almost all the other players except 430, Maybe, Mushi, and a few others, and he goes pretty even with them as long as it isn't a bad match-up), or go help Zai create space on the map. Everything played out exactly how Secret plays out every match until early middish / mid game where EHOME's stronger five man AoE line-up really started to show.
EHOME drafted a line-up that could fight early and wave clear, while still maintaining very strong scaling into late game (Gyro and Storm are very good late game heroes, Gyro one of the better AoE heroes late game, Storm having crazy mobility to pickoff heroes). They drafted a line-up that was more defensive in nature, however still was very capable of fighting if needed. Secret thought they could leverage their early game laning advantage into towers, thus more map control, thus ability to starve the opposing team out, however it's being shown that the team with the stronger AoE lockdown is winning more than not, especially when paired up with a strong late game carry like PL, Gyro, Spectre, etc.
