Which they refuted by saying that they always discussed strategy in a heated manner.

They basically analysed VG's early push strat, optimised it and won with it. In TI4, the bottom 6 were eliminated, only 4 teams will be eliminated for DAC. Newbee has already shown that they can win 5 BO3's in a row. Don't count them out. Newbee's looked like shit and from all reports have been coasting hard since TI. Ofc you can't count them out but they certainly aren't that scary right now.

Which they refuted by saying that they always discussed strategy in a heated manner. There were rumours Valve staff had to interfere because the 'discussion' got so heated. Newbee said that was rubbish though, so who knows.

I feel like eg needs to get a lot done in the early game but it is a pretty good clinkz game + zeus is pretty good largely comes down to the timing of silence. Obviously other factors will play in. EG teamfight relies quite a lot on chrono, if silencer sees him leap and ulti straight away they prob win easily.

The dynamics of the current iteration are just awful though, so if they don't find a way to fix that, they're going nowhere (it's a shame, cuz I think June's developed really well as a player while on iG, it's just the team's overall dynamic is really bad right now). In retrospect, and hindsight is obviously 20/20, the top of the Chinese scene got a lot weaker after TI 4. DK collapsed. Newbee lost all their motivation/direction. Only VG got an upgrade with Icex3. LGD basically traded even. iG got worse due to toxicity between Chuan and June. The result was that 3/5 top Chinese teams crumbled and the rest were successful only because of the vacuum left behind, a vacuum so stark that Newbee without practice was still able to win 80% of Chinese tournaments. We weren't able to see all this rot because when VG went overseas, they smashed, but that was just a mirage created by the fact that Western teams were also crumbling around the same time. EG lost all motivation. Secret's first incarnation was barely above mediocre. Alliance crumbled. Fnatic disbanded. Na'Vi went to shit. When C9 was the best Western team in Starladder, well... But the West recovered after New Years. The reshuffle ended up placing the correct players in the correct teams, and now I think we're operating above TI 4 level in terms of the Western scene. EG and Secret are obviously the new leaders, but other teams have had to raise their level of play, too, in order to compete with EG and Secret. DAC came at the correct time for a Western show of force while the Chinese scene was still stuck in a rut, and I think that's what we're seeing.

They lost 4 championships in a row. Live if navi had finished second at every international thus far.

I think it was inevitable with the coming retirements, but it was also an opportunity for China to develop a lot of new talent with newer players on star rosters. Unfortunately, Chinese organizations seem to prefer placing their bets on second-tier veterans rather than on up-and-coming players.
