Inb4 drama about lack of respect/not taking this portion of the tourney seriously.

C9 has to get 1st or 4th for [A] vs C9 finals, so going for fourth? :D

well that was as good a time as any to try out weird drafts. seems a bit too dependant on perfect team fights unfortunately

Well, group stages here are just for placement in the bracket, no real eliminations. Either they're really confident in their standard play, wanted to learn/experiment or are just "positioning" themselves (which is probably unlikely given it's their first game)

Misplays, the bad teamfight threw their entire advantage and after that they just died one by one.
The choice to go arcanes before blink on SK was also weird.

Their draft could've worked but would've required much better execution.
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

Plenty of things, but when C9 didnt hit their Silencer/SK ulti combo they just didnt seem to win fights. Couple that with a useless SB offlaner, better pushing, better farming capacity (midas invo + doom) and rosh advantage. When VG won fights towers went down, nothing happened when C9 won.

BKBs + doom on SingSing meant that C9 dealt no damage, also 0 counterpush against Invoker that gets 11min necrobook.

I only stated that they 'seemed' to make the choice to experiment. Please don't assume anyone defending C9 to be their fan. I'm much more interested in Titan despite their recent form.

That being said, you could see that specific strat working, just need to work on coordination and polish to their play.

Feels like C9 haven't ever seen vici play. They are the most one dimensional t1 team right now and you should be able to deal with them through draft alone even when doing a pocket strat.

It's a good time to experiment, and also I think drafting new stuff here puts you in a better position for the playoffs because teams don't have a clear idea what you actually want to draft against them. I think the two first real 5v5 fights showed how powerful their lineup can be, they just made some poor decisions when going in without the Silencer ult at a critical time. If they continue to dominate at that point and take some towers, the Silencer will probably get his refresher in a timely fashion and even a bkb won't save the Invoker nor the Doom. But now instead they ended up giving VG gold and time to farm up their crucial items

I think you should read into less this loss. It was obviously an experimental draft. And considering all teams advance from group plays it could definitely be argued how much its worth to bring your A-draft for a not very important group match. They wouldnt ever draft this in the grand final.

That was a stupid draft by c9. No other way to put it. Once bkbs came up they lost. Once nyx hit level 16 they lost. If doom got initiation on silencer they lost. If they messed up a single part of their complex team fight they lost. If troll built a blink they lost. There was just way to much that could go wrong with that draft. Its like they thought they were playing with a server advantage.

Well the draft is one thing, but I don't think they lost it because of the draft. It was just that for their draft it was crucial that they use their advantage in 5v5 fights early to get a heavy lead. Now they made crucial mistakes right when they were supposed to be stronger than VG, and the draft was pretty unforgiving for that sort of thing because they really couldn't do anything afterwards against the bkbs
