Also wiki searchable but w/e.

Bristle's damage reduction checks to see the location of the unit doing damage to it in relation to the direction bristle is facing. So the only thing that matters is where the necro is vs where bristle is facing. At the time the damage applies, of course. Technically you could ult him from behind then say force staff in front of him for full dmg.

is there an elegant way to use cheats in an offline game? Basically I want to recreate what you get when you create an empty lobby with cheats enabled. I don't have that option through the ui in offline mode. So I tried sv_lan 1 map dota.bsp jointeam goodguys dota_workshoptest 1 -create hero legion and the legion it gave me has ai and fights my control. Is there either a work around for the ai fighting me or a much simpler solution altogether (that doesn't involve having internet)?

in dota 1 it has its own formula, in dota 2 valve was lazy and just has the same formula for both + and - armor values. Known bug for years, it's why negative armor past 20 has an effect in dota 2 as well.

Is it possible to bind a console command that drops an item by id or slot? Reason, playing techies and having to drop arcane boots every 30 s all game.

There isn't.

Honestly, drop Arcanes->use Soul Ring is a bug (Soul Ring's extra mana buffer is supposed to be separate from your max mana and therefore shouldn't be affected by your total mana growing or shrinking the way other ways of gaining mana is), and shouldn't even be in the game, so I would be against adding a console command that encourages its use.

but bug abuse is super important to winning dota, how else do we see certain TI finalists get to where they are in 2012 and 2013

Honestly, they've had so long to fix bugs like that that I consider everything intended until it's fixed.

Even armlet bear survived for months and months until icefrog decided it was indeed op, and oh-we-totally-just-noticed-this bugfixed it.

Drop-slot hotkeys would be useful in a lot of other circumstances as well, as would sell-slot hotkeys.

while it was an unintended consequence of the dota2 engine and not straight up purposeful abuse ala Ti3, the chain of events known as "the play" more or less directly stems from a crucial engine difference between dota and dota2 regarding naga song and ravage interaction as well as dota2's ability to queue actions

Fixing that would be a pretty large nerf to tinker I think.

it doesn't affect tinker very much as tinker doesn't usually get mana items until late in the game

Agreed, Tinker isn't really effected. The thing he usually does is drop items and bottle mana up. Which would work even if they decided what I asked wasn't proper for the game after 4 years of it being in it.

there's nothing to drop for a tinker in the first ~8000 gold of their typical build aside from maybe a null talisman, at which point the impact is barely worth it

Since there isn't a hotkey to drop items, what is the best way to do it? Align the screen with items near the hero and drag and drop, use soul ring and then pick them up? It just seems to take so much time when I have three items to drop and pick up.

if u have to drop it on the ground you can attempt to align screens or whatever but the fastest way would be to just practice your mouse control.
if you have more than 6 items however, just switch items around in your stash. quite easy once you get the hang of it

Techies does this out on the map most of the time. I don't think stash switching works. :/

I wonder why they don't implement something like in hon, where Ctrl+click item = put it into stash, and Ctrl+Alt+click item = sell it

Hm I think the general mentality of dota is that adding additional features that make it easier to do certain inputs is not necessarily a good thing. I guess it has a lot to do with the origin of dota being wc3.
I always find myself on the 'no, I really wouldnt want that feature to be added'-side, but I struggle for real reasoning as to why. It would be a very useful feature, but it would make playing heroes like Tinker so much easier/more efficient...
