Wings loss a total of 8 games this tournament.

3 of it was with a Pudge pick.
1 of it was a throw to OG.
2 of it was giving Navi their favourite heroes.
2 of it was to TNC, no idea how the games went.

Seemed like they lose when they want to.

They played a great tournament and deserved their win, I was rooting for DC for ultimate underdog story, but I am happy with Wings winning too. Just a really damn good team with everything. Will be exciting to see how they continue to perform.

Congrats on your win, great games and enjoy the immortality.

Well deserved. Such a dominant performance.

This one is funny. I'm thinking of analysing Wings' drafts to see a pattern. Did one for Alliance and OG before. See how it goes.

Here is one pattern, whenever they want to win a game, they whip out their faceless void carry (and experiment with many heroes) Won two games in the grand finals vs DC, and numerous games past three monthes (undefeated I believe)

The general strategy lineup consists of three cores typically with an ET pick

faceless void: always goes Linken->Blink->Hyperstone->Assault Cuirass->??? (rarely goes beyond that, but I have seen manta style). You play it like a weaver but with the goal of tanking spells and stuns that would've been used on other cores to time walk out of. Proceed to use chrono to catch out or prevent enemies from jumping on other team mates. Threat of Chrono makes enemy team formation spread too thin and liable for Wings to make effective pick offs

Ranged DPS mid: I have seen so far Death Prophet, Timbersaw, Invoker. Basic idea is that Void covers the fragility of these glass cannons. Picks off heroes, main high ground seige specialist of sorts (whether by killing enemy team then push or straight up siege towers)

Offlane Core: Many variations that they experiment with. The most conventional being a quick initiator chaser to catch out stragglers (so chrono is reserved as backup threat) Slardar comes to mind. Other wierd picks such as LC to use it for buffing the tower seige and as a counter initiator.

I really hope other teams take Wings' example and start greatly diversing their hero pools. I hated how sometimes you'd always have the same 3-4 heroes picked every match with some previous patches. Wings' games are always so entertaining.

Lol. I have difficulty recognising the players though. I can only recognise Blink. Which one is Faith? I believe the third is jdh, who used to team with 3 of Wings.

Shadow is the one on the left

100% not shadow. I'm 100% sure Blink is middle. Faith should be right. But sometimes he wears glasses and its throwing me off.

edit: wait I had Shadow and Faith confused, fuck. Okay I think the original has, left to right, Faith, Shadow, and... Innocence? But I don't think Innocence was on the team at that team, was he?

Also Chinese memes have always been of highest quality

That guy on the right is jdh who is not with Wings. Innocence was not with team at the time.

I'm certain innocence was part of spg then. DK needed one support player, so only 1 of spg's support stood in and that was jdh. The strange thing though is that in burning's edited photo, clearly he pasted both blink and jdh faces over his and mmy's. But jdh isn't part of wings, so maybe he doesn't know how faith_bian looks like :D

hmm actually that's true. Innocence could have been part of SPG.
Titan was in the spring season of WPC, right? Innocence joined back then.

So is there any backstory on the individual players yet/what they did before Wings?

Would love a link to anything like that

Oh Innocence isn't 24 :O
And it was confirmed what was pretty clear from their in booth behaviour but he indeed is the undisputed silent drafter who ignores comfort heroes for the most part, thanks the team for believing in his strategy and they thank him back for believing them they can play those heroes.

They really seemed like 3 year olds looking at the screen like looking at candy when he was drafting.

I guess this is why superstar ego teams don't really work these days and TI was won by Innocence/ppd/xiao8 undisputed at the helm last years

I'm getting worries about this team, they don't seem to be playing in the small tourneys much, only a couple are high in solommr?

Don't give us another newbee and codec fiasco guys!

They took a break after TI, and are now returning to competitive play. They'll be playing EHOME in DPL in two days.

They had strict practice regimen during the year : no other games, no gf, 11am to 11pm 6 days a week. Thy entirely deserved their resutls but will they be willing to continue to practice so hardcore?

They just came out of nowhere. I never pay attention to them until they won TI6. With how insanely convincing play, they are the team to watch out for on the coming Major.
