The boys are out!
Showed their genius in their last game winning teamfights even when stupidly far behind with great plays.
This team has always been volatile and always will be
let's hope this single elim. nonsense is over

Its ok, can't win everything. Eg were good opponents. A little concern that they may be going into 'let's pick anything that's seldom played' mentality. I know they are known to draft fairly randomly, but I feel they may be trying a little to hard to continue that reputation.

They seemed good still. But they sure aren't dominant. More than once they got easily read, eg was just waiting for them, knowing their exact route and stuff. Here's hope that next patch they rise again

I'll keep rooting for them as long as they're relevant while playing their varied strats. The next patch will do them a lot of good I think, helping them to rethink their strategies.

Yeah, faith_bian used to land all freaking impale with nyx and now miss some easy SK stuns, go figure. He's the one who dropped the most, from arguably the best player in the world to "just" a good offlaner.

i think their understanding of post-ti 6.88 was lagging compared to other teams. in TI they were ahead. clearly. and that gave them the confidence to make plays and elevate their level. But after that there were some minor patches, trends developed and other teams got ahead. even when they beat NP at northern arena in a lot of those games they were clearly starting from a disadvantaged position.

I think this is natural, as other teams study and advance non-stop while the TI champs just take a small mental vacation at the start of the following season. the silver lining is that they were indeed the fastest team to develop good ideas about 6.88 imo, and maybe even 6.86, so they can do it again with 6.89 especially if it's as game changing as people are saying.

honeslty i think it's just hard to be the best team with a huge target on your back, they probably got focused a lot which is reasonable.

also I do think their map movements are being read too and also their warding patterns, they need to shake that off and be not so predictable, especially everyone hawking over their replays or what have you. Overall losing to EG is okay, EG looks pretty solid this tournament

i wasn't even surprised they lost, prehaps I was hoping they end up higher.

being the first team is really hard in dota. every tourny have new meta, the top ones always gets studied and exploited.

they still have phenomon team fights so the synergy is still there, they need to stick together and work out their lanes because they almost always lose lanes (prehaps due to the lack of individual ability compare to other top teams), but now they can't rely on team fight and map movements to overcome early game shortcomings they need to work out how they go forward.

Wings and lack of individual ability in same sentence. I don't follow. To pull off what they did at TI and pre TI required way higher individual skill than everyone. We're talking at very very worst top 3 in their roles. It's not that wings won, but they won in a way that nobody is supposed to be able to, which requires a major skill advantage outside of their great teamplay. Their only real weakness then was that they would often get out-rotated in the laning phase, but their midgame was the closest we've seen to perfection.

They evidently didn't practice as much here and were way less crisp. Not much to worry about since the post TI season generally has pretty poor quality of play across the board, as it was at Boston. It's only an issue if they don't start getting in form by late spring/early summer 2017.

oh i'm not doubting they are indeed top players.

very worst top 3 is that enough when you are facing teams with the likes of sumail in mid?

it's subjective obviously as you can argue how much individual brillance contribute to modern dota but it's evidenly clear that wings have trouble early game.

Lack of individual skill, come on, no other team in the history of dota came close to their level at TI. They setup a new level of play and if I can agree blink and iceice were "just" very good, the other 3 had many matches close to perfection.

Concerning the early game, they often sack it for a strong midgame and if the scoreboard looked grim they were not that far behind in term of farm and XP with a stronger midgame fighting line up.

They're jsut out of shape atm and their movements have been figured out. The question if they're willing to go back to hardcore training now that they're rich enough to not work.

Eh they played shitloads of games post TI, probably the most out of any champion!
They were already working hard. They're just a volatile team losing one BO3 when it matters was always possible even at TI

only faith_bian was truly outstanding in his role @ TI imo

but that's besides the point, Wing's versatility is what enables, their 5 man functions at a higher level than any other teams at TI but let's not kid ourselves to think they are above and beyond, their average group stage, the 0-2 vs Demon and friends.

I don't disagree that everyone of Wings are world class it's evidently no longer the case where they won every mid game fights regardless how they do early game and teams have found ways to exploit them precisely because of it.

shadow carry popularizes his chosen item builds. what's even better is that he makes them work and they win fights in such spectacular fashion.

I noticed after watching DPL that it seems Shadow and Blink have switched roles. I wonder if the recent results have been pressuring them to make changes. Not the first time they made a switch though, since FaithBian played mid for bit way before their ESL win.

They are still losing with this new switch though. I really hope they are saving strats because from what I've seen they have been getting really poor results and its kinda sad to TI champions fall off so hard again. I wouldn't even consider them top 5 in China atm. Newbee, IG, IG.v, VG, VG.J, and LGD look stronger. Really hoping they prove me wrong at Kiev.

Of all wings players, I feel shadow is slumping the most. Never a good sign when a team does a role switch.

Shadow has a baby, that definitely is going to affect him. I hope everything is well with him then if the rumors of him being subbed is true.

More than with any other team I've followed I'd be quite sad to see Wings roster change, even if it's an upgrade objectively. Any team is more than the sum of its parts, but Wings especially.

Think this thread is criminally underrating iceice though. He's fallen like the others, but at his best, the guy was an absolute monster even though he's not the typical Jerax 4. More like a Chinese Zai.
On a purely personal note, I'd like to show Yellow the beauty of infinitely repeating Starcraft 2 bunkers. -Boxer
