Even during their dominant TI3 era, Alliance wasn't the most loved team by the forums/reddit/twitch. Possibly because of Na`Vi fans. Maybe because of their "rat" playstyle which was proven but often ignored to be inaccurate. The love they're getting now is kinda a mystery, but I attribute it to Bulldong replacing SingSing as a twitch meme master. Also people who watched Dota during TI3 the first time, who got hooked on Alliance winning dominantly and having an awesome final.
I wonder how much doubt would still loom over Alliance's head. If people want to discredit you, they'll find every reason to do it but still. Though they did get very unlucky having the Airplane fiasco, which might've affected them games which they'd probably win, they still got lucky the rest of the tournament. The victory over LGD wasn't really a "real" game and EG experimented with their drafts though they still tried to win. Beating Secret was a hair's breath and they were kind of in a slump which showed when some of their plays weren't crisp. Misery looked useless on Timbersaw and w33's Zeus is meh. Liquid had lan jitters because of their newer players. They played utter crap. Alliance crushed EG in the finals but it was in a new patch and EG doesn't that have much experience with it yet and they looked really bad against Alliance. That didn't stop them from reaching the finals though. EG did had sloppy games against LGD.
It says a lot when people keep making excuses on why a team is winning instead of why a team is losing. It also says a lot when teams keep on "under-performing" when playing against Alliance. The biggest caveat now is on how people will keep on discrediting Alliance's victories due to IceFrog tailoring a patch for them, whether that's deliberate or not. It's not in contention that IceFrog did indeed buff [A]'s comfort heroes but how much is Alliance's skill and strategy showing versus that patch helping them. I wonder if that is even a valid question?
Haters will inevitably wait now when IceFrog "nerfs" Alliance in the next patch and point their fingers and say, "I told you so". Haters will always hate, the question is could Alliance survive the patch and be a major contender.

This speech makes no sense, after TI3, alliance heroes weren't nerfed, they got DELETED from the game. Now they are just viable again, but what makes them strong are the players, not the heroes themselves.

A patch alone will never make a team from a bad team to the best team. But a patch can get you from being a good team to suddenly being extremely successful when the field of teams is relatively close to begin with. We'll see how things develop as this patch matures but Alliance suddenly jumping ahead of everyone after the patch change wouldn't really be that surprising compared to for example the scenario that Secret continues to not be a consistent a title contender or if OG were to only be a top8 quality team or something. In that case we could say the last patch favored them compared to this patch a bit, I don't see what's so controversial about such statements or why it has to be some sort of an insult.

Na'Vi fans never hated Alliance, that's the funniest part. Mainly because it was the only good matchup for almost a year.
Sugoi [A]lliance, gz-gz. Good luck at major, Kelly and boys. <3

Well I didn't expect that result. Congrats Alliance. WP.

Indeed , true fun games !!

Really thought Alliance would win but not this easily because they kept losing team fights unnecessarily earlier in the tournament. This was just ridiculously well played, no chance for eg.

So now things have, however temporarily, reverted to the old pre-TI3 setting. Alliance has taken advantage of an unprepared scene and shown exactly how scary they are. Question is, can they keep this level of performance up in Shanghai, and even increase it to match the effort that will be put in by the other teams? And will the rest of the world adapt in time and learn how to combat Alliance? It's an awesome story, and should lead to some amazing games. I'm really excited.

Man, I came home late today and had to dodge spoilers from the internet for 12 hours. Came home and watched the whole thing and now I'm just sitting here all... drained. Man, I'm smiling from ear to ear. What a performance. What a rough ride we've had coming here and it feels so good to actually be able to say: We are back! Much love to all of you true fans! Let's keep it going into the majors!

Yeah, this will be the thing to watch out for! How will the other teams respond? Can Alliance stay one step ahead? This season is shaping up to be very very interesting!

PPD is just gonna spend now until the majors sitting in lotus position on a mountaintop meditating on the ultimate question, "how does one play against Alliance?"
WP [A], don't let the haters get you down.

is s4 rejoining alliance a mistake for his career?
Yes
1) It's impossible to know what would have happened if s4 had stayed in Secret 2) Looking at what the teams have done after TI overall a player would have rather been on Secret in terms of results But of course if Alliance continues like this that can change already by the Shanghai major. Anyway it's fun to watch Alliance play like this, s4 specifically is really entertaining to watch when he is at his best and playing these kinds of heroes.
The only thing thats been better for secret is a higher placing at frankfurt major. Both have won two premier tournaments mlg+nanyang 223526$ for secret and wca+starladder 490000$.
Sure there are more money from the major but otherwise in results they are pretty the same with two 1st finishes each.

I'm no pro but I think PPD drafted wrongly against Alliance.
Solution should be to first phase ban Wisp and Chen. Let Bulldog get his NP/LD and pressure him with a strong trilane. Draft decent wave clear (maybe an Ember to secure the lategame?). Tell Sumail to stop getting outplayed by S4.
Once EG gets a decent laning phase, it should be able to weather Alliance's timing push and eventually win.
Hopefully Alliance learns a few new tricks, otherwise winning will get alot harder.

Altough you have a point, teams who did this got super punished by S4 mid. I think EG saw that Alliance found a way to get around Chen/IO ban and wanted to try something else to put Alliance in a draft they did not expect.

Are alliance playing today ? seems unlikely ... but could be
