I think Cloud9 is done, tbh. iG/VG are given loses, and you're already 5-6. If you lose 2 games to Empire/Alliance/Fnatic, you're out, if you lose 1 you will have to play tie-breakers for top8, if you win all of them you're at best tied for top6.
I think their strategy is to dumpster bad Western teams (c) uriel

No one is a given win or loss at this TI.

eh, not really. it's day 3, and it's more about style of the playing team, not a general rule.

I think that 8 wins will get a team through at the very least. Empire, fnatic, and LGD are very winnable while alliance, IG, and VG may be a bit harder. But I beliEEve that C9 can pull off at LEAST 3 wins from their matches tomorrow, more if they play like they did on day 1. Let's go C9!

I'm expecting 9 wins to be the pass mark for a top 8 finish, with 8 wins leaving you in a real deadlock in the 5th - 10th spots. 6 games to go, none of which will be easy, but we'll need to win at least 3 to stay in the 8 I'd have thought.

The games against Fnatic, LGD and Empire are absolute must wins I think. VG and iG will be extremely tough, and though I'd definitely give us a shot I couldn't back us with much confidence. Alliance game is kind of a coin flip, who knows how that'll play out. Having a better head to head against NAR, Titan and TL who are likely to be caught in that deadlock will certainly be nice incase there is a tie scenario, but loses to Navi and Newbee could hurt.

It's going to be a cracking last 2 days, especially the later matches. Ideal scenario is we manage to sneak into the top 6 in groups, guaranteeing us a top 8 finish overall. I'd feel a lot better if I know that worst case we walk with 500k, instead of the 50k for 9/10th.

Top 8 in group stages isn't actually important though, top 2, top 4, top 6, and top 10 are. There's not much of a difference between getting 7th in phase 2 and 10th in phase 2.

Yeah it's saddening seeing how Alliance throws game versus VG and then stomps C9 . Gotta be some kind of curse. Alliances push always wrecks C9.

The game against alliance seemed to begin going downhill when bone7 spent chrono on an already caught out and very likely dead Loda, leaving them with no chrono for the ensuing teamfight afterwards and unable to do anything as loda bought back and walked all the way to rosh from the well.. Then his chronos got worse and worse and finally he just tried to chrono s4, hit nothing, and left the game and envy called GG...

I hope he's okay, and not tilting too much for these next games, bone chan you just choked but we still believe in you!

Really upset at the game vs Alliance. It was practically a single core lineup with everything revolving around bone7 on the offlane void, who bought an orb of venom and maxed timewalk over timelock, weird choices especially since he kept getting silenced by skywrath anyway. Did not seem like they practiced this draft at all. The biggest turn around was the Roshan fight where PieLieDie handed Alliance the aegis by killing the roshan outside of the pit with serpent wards, right next to Loda. His team would have gotten it otherwise from what I saw. Very dissapointed.

So I'm going to tie in EG in this... I think this team would have been 1000x better if Arteezy never left back in September for school. No disrespect to Aui, because I don't think the team is underwhelming because of him but if you had a choice between still having Arteezy on your team versus Aui 2000 then wouldn't the former be obvious? It brings me to the fact that while Singsing has been an ok replacement for Arteezy, that's the key word... just "ok". He's not great, he's not bad, he's just ok... he's not a Dendi, Arteezy, S4, or Mushi. I really thought when they were still Kaipi and Singsing stood in as a roaming support they were starting to become a good team... I think going forward I just can't see this team being together after TI4 (and no I don't think EE-sama is the biggest problem, but he could be better)

But yea, really really sucks EG snatched up Arteezy (wtf weren't you supposed to finish school then full time DOTA??) and now have a chance at winning TI4. Especially disgusting with that a-hole Mason having a chance to do so

Have you forgotten that Aui and Arteezy play different roles? Replacing Aui with Arteezy would force them to change their play style or change some positions around. Also Aui has been doing fine recently in my opinion. I think that the main reason C9 lose their games is due to poor decision making either in the draft or in game.

Not only do aui and arteezy play different roles, but it's clear that arteezy fits very well with zai ppd and mason, they are all young and in some way very much just... NA dota. Aui and Envy both theorycraft and think alot about the game and tryhard in a very C9 way. They get along.

Exactly. You can not just put a bunch of good players together and expect them to play well. Team chemistry is a very important factor to a team's success.
