Its a 4p1 with greedy supports and a lategame carry almost every freaking game and you guys wonder why you allways get 2nd place, gg. In the last +/-30 matches you mostly played 4 hero's (void, drow, TB, naga) 90% of the time. There are 103 heros in the pool and c9 only plays 20 of them, think about it. Its not like the Envy hasn't played different cores over previous patches (blinkz, doom, slardar, weaver, AM, Luna, Gyro, Morph etc.). C9 was one of the earliest teams to adopt a greedy tri-core (remember MLG columbus). I think its just a question of what they think is suitable for the current patch, and play according to it.

Something like that yes ( i like c9 and EE, just want them to show promise and creativity). Against EG its time to mix it up, they are just too good atm. The same 4p1 c9-strats only make you loose less badly against EG. Just create 10 pocketstrats without any of the standard EE corehero's (drow, void, naga, TB) and bone7 standard 4 hero's and play that. Because each time it matters, EG will squash c9 standard 4p1 strats like a bug.

The "4p1" also sounds a bit funny to me because I feel more than with some other teams that the supports they pick c9 don't really protect EE's early farm at all. Imo it's pretty common that EE doesn't have that good of a laning phase, and their goal is to use Fata's and bone7's easier starts to do something in the mid game while Aui and EE farm their way to be relevant. I agree that they have played a bunch of games where EE is the only real physical damage threat later on, but the way they play them isn't really by protecting EE. And it isn't really traditional 4 people distracting while the carry farms either. I feel after the laning phase they often try to have people farming on different sides of the map (examples being EE/Aui/Fata farming opposing jungle and their safe lane constantly), split the opponent up and then they have 1-2 heroes that can pick people off when they have to push out lanes. Whether they should try to do something different depends imo on how they feel about the games they've lost against EG. I know from interviews that at SL for example they felt really good about their draft in the last game and they just screwed it up by playing the trilane terribly, and even then their comeback wasn't that far off. But if you feel that you lost because you played a bit bad, and you can play better, I don't think you should try to do some really random things. I don't think c9 want to get a one off win over EG by some surprise strats, but instead draft and play well enough that they could do it consistently.

And then they have really liked to have PLD on Venge a lot recently, which can be decent early in some situations but can't really fight against some common supports other teams use like Ogre. Imo if you want to play some carry that likes to get active early for example, it's also important to combine it with heroes that can secure the laning phase to allow the carry to have early free farm, get those key early levels and one item before he goes and does things. I don't even really remember when c9 has played with a support duo that can completely zone out an offlaner or can provide a real ganking threat to other lanes, or at least I have the impression that c9 often concentrates on just taking the early game slow instead of putting on a lot of early pressure. I really liked the necro pocket strat and they should run that kind of stuff more often. Also FATA on Nyx/cent is surprisingly good also I agree with you about the EE sacrifice. It's not so bad now, but back when sing was on the team it was routine for Envy to have less farm priority than bone or Sing till 25 mins into the game. Usually he's 2nd these days behind FATA
