So I played three solo ranked games on the new patch at 4.9k rating.
I gotta say I like the new ap mode. In every game the team with the early lead won the game even though one game was a bit swingy.
Imo It is not too different to before.

it seems rather silly that the team ahead has to play more carefully/cautiously than the team behind.
at one point, zeus killed me and got 169 gold :D, i killed him back and got 2.2k. :D Do you remember what the overall Net Worth of your teams were? Regardless, this is the kind of crap that's just not funny at the moment, whether it is solo laddering or watching pro matches. The swings are just too gigantic.
When we read things like this, we should try not to forget that Zeus may easily have been on a godlike streak and would have given ~1300 in the previous patch anyway.
That said, yes, I think it's a bit much.

Only with the 2 minute delay as far as I know (so it works for normal spectating but not if you're a caster in a custom game).

The only good thing about gold change is that the team can actually now carry the 1 burden on the team.
Spectre + turtling heroes like veno is pretty op.

It's impossible to force offlane ogre magi out of lane.

My god the rune change is so good, isn't it?

Poor Alchemist. Now his greed gives the other team extra gold.
|
So this gold change actually is a buff for heroes that give the other team gold via summons/wards?!
|
Realistically it's just a buff to heroes that can win fights from behind.
So idiot R buttons like tide, or ultra-late carries like spectre.

On September 27 2014 03:24 Mafe wrote: So this gold change actually is a buff for heroes that give the other team gold via summons/wards?! Slightly. But it's more damaging to carry Alchemist because his success is entirely based on his ability to quickly build a 5k+ gold lead if you leave him alone, and he's balanced around that by not using gold very efficiently.

Doom has a similar problem. Although i allways thought doom found gold no matter what so maybe they should have adressed doom's goldadvantage earlier.

okay i think i've worked it out
in pubs it's impossible to end games vs LC/void. they just chrono/duel your carry over and over and you lose lol

Dotabuff Watch: The patch is a major indirect nerf to Hand of Midas, reducing its win rate from 45.17% to 41.66%. I suspect that assist gold is at fault.

I think the bounty changes are hard to analyze without people first adjusting their playstyle. We all know it: people think leveraging their lead means throwing bodies at buildings without fear of strategic consequence. That is no longer the case. If people with leads start playing more intelligently how bad will this change end up being? I don't think we know yet.
Here is the first game I've played on the patch. Our QoP kept getting impatient; I had to mute her when she kept shrieking for us to just ball down mid and "finish" when the other team was actually quite competitive with us in team fights if we were not careful. She kept trying to solo the Slark and just...other dumb shit. Thankfully no one listened to her and we were able to finish the game intelligently but the game was endangered repeatedly by stupid yolo plays.

These players were always a menace, some times you won anyway and some times you didn't notice just how dumb their play was. Now it really matters.
Also lol at Marxism comments no one is redistributing your wealth buddy calm down

Yes, lost in all of the bellyaching about how teams can come back from huge deficits by "simply" killing your team is the fact that this change has made a fundamental shift in the economics of the game. That is what concerns me most: not the rubber-banding - which again, unlike Blue Shell mechanics requires you to actively lose your advantage - but the major upset in the basic dynamics of the game caused by so much more gold being on the map in the form of the more-farmed team's bodies. This is very concerning and is something to watch.
