Lane-focused supports are out the window this patch. Defensive counter-pushing, greedy semi-carries are excellent this patch. Earthshaker and Sand King are having a pretty good time at the moment though.

We can't even properly evaluate the balance effects of heroes and items right now, because the whole bounty change is affecting everything in such a way that it makes the other changes hard to evaluate. Bottom line: Can we just hold up on the bounty changes and keep the other patch changes for now? That way we can actually evaluate the effects of hero/item/Roshan/map changes, then implement the bounty changes at a later time if the community still feel it is needed.

Imagine being on the other side of that log, imagine how freaking frustrated you'd be having played a perfect early-midgame and then losing one bad teamfight, giving away a 10 000 gold net worth swing and losing the game. I'd uninstall and go do something rewarding instead. Even less people are going to want to play support in pub games in this patch. on the side of many support heros that are never played, because "they need too much exp and gold", yes. as a support only player i have to say that i love it. on the other hand, this game has to be played completely different now. we could also see new supports. or sth like WD core. QoP support. sth like that. im fine with that.

They are just less loud that the people complaining. If you look at reddit(a terrible example to prove anything, but it is all we have) there seem to be people on both sides of the fence. The math will be adjusted. And its not like the kills give you back towers or raxes, so you can still get an advantage and use it to take objectives. And the new bounty system doesn't give you extra gold when the teams are equal in value So if the other team makes a huge come back and gets a big lead, its because the other team gave it away and then lost more when the field was equal. But clearly there was no problem when they were the one doing the stomping.

They should really reduce the gold buff, they went a little too far with it. EDIT: On the other hand, it looks like two teamwipes and we've got an exciting game. Maybe Icefrog is more brilliant than all of us put together, after all?

Because a great early games gets erased by one bad fight or a smoke gank. Why would you even put emphasis on playing an early-game-focused lineup? What will happen is: • Early game rotations will mean less because comebacks are a lot easier to pull off (bounty value) • Teams that accumulate a solid lead in the midgame will pull back and farm/starve their opponents rather than going high ground --> We will have very long and stale games where people will avoid pushing high ground to avoid big teamfights where massive Net Worth swings will happen. Your kind of logic annoys me massively, because all you see is "games will be closer = more exciting!" Imagine you watch a game of football/soccer and a team is down by 0-3. What if the referee gave the losing team a free goal or two just to make the game more exciting? That's TERRIBLE for the sport and if Dota is to be considered a legitimate e-sport, then changes like this are hurting the game.

Maybe Icefrog is more brilliant than all of us put together, after all? Yeah, that seems to be the case. People talking about a single smoke gank give up a lead are just being hyperbolic. It takes winning a couple team fights to cancel out the gold lead of a team. I haven't seen a change of 10K net worth from a single team fight(and I'm not sure what the math would be for that, but it must be nuts). But the gold doesn't give you back objectives, so as long as a team is pushing their advantage and not sitting on it, they can still get a lead they can count on. It just sustaining a gold and XP lead is harder this patch.
