The whole "laughing stock of DotA scene" bit made me sad. I hope they improve fast and show why South Koreans are considered the motherland of eSports

Great interview. After having lurked for years I kinda remember Heen funnily enough, nice to hear he's doing well.

Nice interview- However, I'm starting to wonder what Nexon and the Korean Dota community can do to advance it's popularity. I think he meant the opposite? like in League you get levels, you get runes and you can rank, which might be seen as grinding in the RPG sense. But in DotA, it's grinding for trivial items you don't need or want necessarily. Both can be grinding but I think Heen meant that LoL grinding had goals people wanted to get and added incentive to play.

Koreans like their grinding mmos, like Maplestory. The way you can grind to level 30 and unlock all the masteries, and also build full runebook pages gives you the sense that you've levelled up and spec'd out your account.

He's older than old man Fear! Dayum.

I'm having a tough time deciding on who to root for in the play-ins. CIS or MVP is the question.

Lol I know. I'm Korean. I think grinding isn't the right word for mobas though. Just taking lol and Dota, I think what heen meant is that leveling up in league has more incentive than dota at this point. I guess both games are grinding (when we strictly look at the leveling up sense) and if taken pelt for grinding, lol has the better rpg-esque feel to it. But I don't like the grinding comparison cause I "grind" Dota games to open my presents

Grinding in League brings direct benefits - masteries & summoner skills to begin with, and after you hit level 30, you're still grinding IP for runes/champs

I saw a nice suggestion in reddit about having titles or badges for your profile. They took inspiration from gladiator titles in WoW.

Don't the PC bangs in Korea already have fully unlocked league accounts (runes and heros), and most people play in PC bangs right? Then, do people use their personal account at PC bangs to grind there? The league grinding comment makes sense taken out of context of PC Bangs, but with the incentive to play in PC Bangs for that, does it even matter?
