Diffusal actually sounds like a good item for drow. Purge is very useful(chasing, escaping, debuff) it provides a lot agi. And it's only 3300 gold so it's not that bad and it's easy to build considering the recipe for it. Manta is ok but only in later stages of the game after the few few items. Not a good first item though. but dude accepted convention is bf = battlefury, bfly = butterfly ok ![]() On September 15 2014 16:52 Plansix wrote: Dota acronyms 101, because full words are hard to type. It has more something to do with me being lazy. And i thought it was understandable that when i meant BF it would mean butterfly since we are talking about drow aura and agi gain and why would you build battlefury for drow. Damn it my cause is lost . I typed too much stuff when i try to shorten them.

Having reviewed your arguments, I stand by my fringe viable call on diffusal. Diffusal Blade 1 gives +25 agility and costs 3300 (same as an eaglesong). It gives +34 damage and +25 attack speed, and also gives +9 damage to the rest of the team. I think Drow is willing to pay retail for both damage (50 gold) and attack speed(30 gold) for her single mid-game damage inventory slot. That accounts for 2450 gold value of the 3300. If Drow has a teammate who would be willing to pay retail for slotless damage, and the rest would each pay 1/3 retail for damage, the cover price of a Diffusal Blade or Eaglesong has been covered. If Drow is the team's only good right-clicker, Eaglesong is only viable as a component for a larger item. Diffusal, however, also has mana burn. A Drow skilled enough to do manual Frost Arrows gets an additional 20 damage on half or more of her attacks. Alternatively, if at least 3 of the purges create kills or save teammates, the Diffusal has paid for itself. Therefore, it's fringe viable against heroes particularly vulnerable to purges. --- With regards to Yasha, it's a scrub damage item that also gives the very important tactical option to run away.

Yasha provides more mobility that has damage and AS so it's kinda nice. It also helps drow run away like Buckyman said which happens all the time with drow. MoM acccomplishes the same things as yasha though. So idk.

Diffusal would be a fine pickup in certain games, yeah. Doubly so against brood / warlock / omni where the purge has extra value. It isn't that diffusal itself is a bad pickup, more the "HER ITEMS NEED +AGI OR BAD" mindset that I think is incorrect and was opposing. That said, you're probably exactly right in giving a support Drow a diffusal. Where traditional ranged supports love a force staff for its +int and balk at a diffusal for its useless agility, Drow actually makes good use of the agi while still being in a great position to make good use of the active as well. On some level I question the value of damage stats on support heroes, though. A large part of what would make support drow successful would be positioning, so while you would have a lot of rightclick stats, you likely wouldn't be positioning like a "normal drow" would, because you won't have the bkb / shadowblade / lifesteal and damage output a "normal drow" would. But I dunno, I'd have to play it seriously a few times to get a feel for what's allowed and what isn't.
