Beta is super small and thus there will be noobs. Just take it in stride and keep playing and be glad that you're even in the goddam beta. There are tons of people who would be willing to play with noobs in DotA2 beta. I will, definitely. I never understood the noob bashing. People have to learn somewhere - as long as they're willing to learn and be part of the team, just deal with it. One day they'll be good enough to keep up, for now share your skill to help them get there faster. The first time I played dota was at a lan center, and I got my ass ravaged and made fun off. NOOBS MUST BE BASHED IN ORDER FOR THEM TO LEARN. If you don't bash them, 5vlads teams will exist forever.
lol I prefer giving them constructive criticism and trying to justify to them why they should do things and explain what does what and why etc. That's what I mean about being willing to learn - as long as they will listen and take advice of people who are experienced in the game, they will get better quickly.

And the chance that some random contest gets a person like that into a beta is like finding a needle in a hay stack. I hope I can get in soon, I think on steam it says they wanted a "large scale" beta in the fall : S.
Edit: Post 888, for some reason, that means something to me 8P

Yeah, no. If you make that assumption, you're just terrible at DotA. There are times where you will lose just because it's a terrible match up. Like Axe versus Brood or SD/Rubick versus anything or Sand King versus Brood, Shadow Priest vs. SF, Doom vs. Puck, do I need to continue?
It has nothing to do with deal with it either, I was just illustrating the dumbfuck-ness of some dota playing individuals.
And what I quoted was something that was dropped on ack in one of our recent games on DotaCash when blew up a Furion mid with Gyro and after I commented on his shitty play because he was qq-ing about his team and ours.

Heh
I'm optimistic, and hope the new influx of players into DotA2 will be willing to learn... I suppose I shouldn't be considering what most new players in WC3 DotA were like, but I can live in hope

Why would Priest ever lose to a SF mid?
The Priest is holding all the cards, better damage, better spells, better movespeed and has free harass with a nuking heal.
The SF holds nothing to threaten the Priest in any form or shape.

For lvls 1-3 perhaps? No one will stand next to the creeps for the heal to hit them, so the slow is what you use to harass in combination with high base damage.

I dunno, I was always under the impression that there werent really any good counter to SF mid except stomping him in the first few levels. He can just nuke the waves anyway
|
But countering SF comes form a lot of things other than 1 on 1, there are plenty heroes that'll counter him 1v1 but the best way to deal with him is just get good ganks since he's so damn squishy

....Let me make this explicitly clear, all of SF's tools are very inefficient against Priest mid on top of the fact that the SF cannot realistically threaten the Priest in any form or shape.
If you nuke to get souls, you're trading mana for lane presence without taxing the Priest in anyway which a priest will take any day. The Priest on the other hand can harass better than you with Poison and heal/nuke should you need to get closer to the creeps to last hit while messing up the last hit (SFs consistently do this early to make up for the shitty damage).

You seem to forget how much damage sf razes do, and more importantly, how good sf players position their razes. (No good sf will consistently go close to other creeps/wtihin sp's range.) Also Sp has ridiculously low base health and sf is all about burst, so I'm struggling understanding your points beyond the first few levels.
To be more specific about what happens later we'd have to see whether it is 1v1 or a normal game. If this is 1v1, the sp falls of heavily as the sf will get bottle and will only need to spend 150 mana to clear a wave. However far ahead sp is by this point, he can't deny the sf anything at lvl 5 as its just too easy to farm.
If this isn't 1v1 then sp can't be over aggressive or he'll get ganked and its insanely easy to kill sp with a vs/es gank. That makes his higher damage/early game advantage fall off much faster.

dazzle beats sf in lane pretty easily sf isn't a very strong laner, a lot of heroes beat him mid i mean he'll start winning at 7 but by then laning is pretty much over
|
I wouldn't put dazzle mid anyways... much better as sidelane solo (preferably 1v1 scenario) with no fog or uphill miss chance to interfere with your monster right-click power. Develops into a great midgame dps semicarry too, particularly with minion-based push lineups.
A smart SF player would have a reasonable chance of worming his way back into the game by camping high ground and abusing bottle/courier/lucky rune spawns.

Dota 2 will be at dreamhack winter 2011! http://www.dreamhack.se/dhw11/2011/11/01/dreamhack-corsair-vengeance-dota-2-championship/ "Main tournament Dates: 25-26 November 2011 Location: DreamHack Winter 2011, Hall C, Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden Format: 5vs5 Teams: 8 Tournament format: 4×4 Group play BO1, Playoff single elimination BO3 Tournament set-up: All matches played in Tournament Area at Tournament PC’s. Grand Final at DreamArena Extreme. Prize Purse: 100 000 SEK 1st – 50 000 SEK 2nd – 25 000 SEK 3rd – 15 000 SEK 4th – 10 000 SEK"
4 invited teams, 4 qualified. I think double elim bo1 format is better for DotA than single bo3, but that's a really minor concern. I'm getting super excited. This autumn + winter is shaping up to be an epic dota season.
