(actually i saw his steam account on HyHy friendlist while he stream). The point is, it doesnt matter if korean picking up LoL or dota2, they have never been good at it. DotA market is China > EU ~= SEA > rest... and im not seeing that changing anytime soon.,
Might not be the same chu, I saw a 'chu' while MMing in SEA, looked at his Steam profile and he was from the Phillipines.

chu played Dota2 for like 2 days VERY early on in beta (before NDA was removed) and he gave his account away to his friend who's name skips my mind. That guy doesn't really play much either. Chu hasn't played Dota2 since, a lot of people make fake names lol its Steam, you can change your name non stop seeing someone named EG.DeMoN doesn't mean you're playing Demon, or better example, Dendimon, there must be 50 of those.

Btw i played with 2gd today and his account has EXP........ @_@ He must got it pretty early on eh?
tip of the day: playing axe jungle, you should start with transquil boot and buy a point booster. since both transquil AND mana boot are disassemble-able items, you can switch between them to get both HP and mana for battle hunger.

No one gives a shit about a tournament for a game they don't play or have never played. LoL will always look better to a person who's only played LoL and when all their friends play LoL. LoL is getting a lot of attention in korea right now while dota gets literally 0. I foresee korea being primarily LoL based in the future bar the game itself completely dying (won't happen, stop dreaming).
I think in the end this whole thing is gonna end up being Pepsi vs. Coke. You choose one or the other, but both are quite popular. And just like in Pepsi vs Coke there is a clear winner. Dota + Coke! How anybody could like pepsi more than coke is beyond me. Yeah there is no debate. Coke > Pepsi. But, LoL and Dota are apples and oranges.
Coke = Oranges > Apples = LoL
everyone knows that, duh.

So....uhhhhhh...... like back on topic or something. I'm excited for the entrance of the Chinese teams into Dota2, will give some stiff competition. I just wish Valve would start advertising a bit in Korea to compete with LoL, a huge market to leave unnoticed.

no...... look at what blizzard tried to do to sc2 and see it fail. One do not simply advertise a game and make it famous in korea. Currently Riot made a deal with KeSPA which make things even more complicated if valve step in. In my opinion the Korean market has never been and will never be worth while to advertise moba title. The only advantage they have compare to chinese and SEA is that they have infrastructure and a developed gaming culture, other than that they have never compete in the dota1 competitive scene which mean that the country itself most likely wont like the game since they will never win at it.

I feel the same way. To me, it is the same way I feel with Sc2 as well. Waiting and hoping for the next "big" person moves over. When more people move over to DotA 2, it will only become ever larger and popular.

Is this supposed to be the case? iirc there was some nerf to invoker so icewall didnt go through magic immunity anymore, i dont really remember though Ice wall works if you're already affected and pop BKB or rage for sure, it doesn't dispel the debuff and you take the full slow. I think if you're immune before entering icewall you won't be affected (not 100% sure of that, but 100% sure of the first sentence)

koreans never really played even dota 1, it's a saturated market now. valve would be wise to invest their resources in china.

yo i have a genius idea someone should make a recommended dota vods thread

So realistically and try to keep the bias of which game you prefer out of this, how big do you think the dota 2 scene will get in lieu of the already exploding LoL scene? I mean the game itself is amazing and from my bias point of view I think it will explode to but I honestly haven't really followed the scene long enough to know if it's going to have what it takes to be big along side a power house like LoL mainly with riot funding.
Here's to hoping Valve gives out a shit load of keys in the near future to garner more growth.

Well, if I recall correctly, one of the grand finals recently (think it was DignitasCup or The Defense) attracted 30,000 viewers. This is pretty big considering this game is still in beta.
You have to include other factors into the mix when comparing with LoL:
- LoL's F2P model attracted more initial players which explains its vastly greater playerbase. - Continuous growth of LoL over the course of 2 odd years or so compared to DotA 2's half a year - How many more players DotA2 will bring in once the Chinese teams start picking it up and bringing with them the Chinese viewers - DotA2's total playerbase once the game is fully functional with all heroes implemented and what not
LoL has game accounts in the millions (IIRC it surpassed WoW's playerbase of 14 million or something not too long ago), but take this with a grain of salt because there can still be multiple account holders and what not. A % of that playerbase will actively watch competitive LoL games, so in comparison to a fully functioning and operating DotA2, I too would still think LoL's scene would be much bigger. That doesn't mean DotA2's will be insignifcant though, if anything it will easily be the opposing contender to LoL in this genre.
