IRC chatter should remain in IRC - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=tl.dota2

Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

I guess different ladders/servers work differently, but so far on a couple of different platforms people actually ask you to leave when you are bad. At the same time, in every beginner's guide you would read how leaving games is like the worst sin in Dota, and every server tracks leavers and bans them etc. How come, then, the ladder rules make it beneficial for people to ask their weak teammates to leave?

A ladder gives you points for winning. Playing 4v5 is simpler than playing 4v6 (one person feeding the opponent). As long as it is based on winning it is positive for a team to ask a person that has the wrong hero and is bad enough to leave.

As for why leaving is bad, the game can almost always be turned around on a pub level. Each team simply makes so many mistakes that the game can be turned around. If one player leaves the chance of that occurring decreases. As mentioned above though, if a player is bad enough it is simpler to 4v5. The majority of the time a team asks you to leave they are acting out of frustration and not out of impartial judgement of your skill.

Top camp at ~51, walk straight down to the trees and make a turn a turn to either side as soon as you have activated the lower camp.

Ahh thank you.

I guess trying to stack without tunneling first doesn't work for some particular camps?

If you want to post something small that doesn't require a thread, go ahead and post it here. If this follows the rules of the LoL thread almost anything goes, talk about a recent game you played, talk about a small thing like an item, or skill order on a hero, etc. talk about a recent stream you found or cast you watched. That kind of thing

What is with these Asian players and their names? If Dota 2 gets really big a weird short handle just shouldn't cut it.

A large part of the problem is that Chinese characters dont work well outside of chinese servers/clients, so the players usually just pick something simple

another issue is having sponsors and clan-tags

EH.GiGAbyte.XXX is pretty much the longest u can fit under wc3 irrc

I had the same question, my chinese friend tells me chinese people remember numbers a lot easier so its a cultural thing. With my minimal understanding of mandarin it seems right.

Creep stacking seems so tedious... is this only in the game because of the wc3 engine or do players enjoy this aspect of the game ?

Tedious how? It's not like you ever need to do it if you don't want to

it is used to optimize farming quite a bit, if people dont have time to do it then they dont but if they can and without risk then they will. its all about time and risk management with creep stacking
