It's definitely better to be able to spend that 225 on something else. I noticed a lot of stout shield + 3 gg branches + consumables during the International

It's gained even more popularity after becoming sell-able. It's pretty much always worth getting in DotAcash etc unless you desperately need more consumables to survive your lane as its earned back once its granted you 3 additional lasthits. You need to play at a very high level before the lost +stats matter however some matchups just require you to get 6 tangos + 1 or 2 salves...

It definitely is still useful especially if you plan on transitioning into farming in the jungle without an orb, but you generally don't want to spend some of your first 603 gold on it, especially as shield is usually better for the later game.
On some heroes you of course always get it, like on Bloodseeker it's very useful.
(I mostly practice so that I can lasthit perfectly when I in fact play with a quelling blade)

It's sooo hard to get last hits in the game for me right now. Hard to see the healthbars of the enemy creeps vs my own creeps healthbars when they are right on top of each other. Not to mention the hero i've been playing to get myself reacquainted with DotA is Lich. The animation is SOOOOOOOOO SLOOOOWWWWW lolol. It's tough.
For your practice Shikyo do you just load up dota and put the computer as an op and then start last hitting?

It's pretty cool seeing that you can actually get power treads, vanguard, and battle fury by 18min by only staying on your lane and lasthitting properly o.O If only I could do this in actual games
|
i get quelling blade on most melee carries now (especially against furions), the fact that its sellable makes it not a bad investment at all and you dont really need the +3 stat items in pubs
|
If you do want to train last hitting don't play a single player custom map. Load it up in LAN or with a custom latency setting program online. 0 vs 100 ms does make a minor but noticeable difference when last-hitting. Learning the wrong latency isn't optimal when you can easily choose another one.

but your opponents arent usually the same skill level*

Though one definitely shouldn't expect to actually get 100 lasthits in 15min.
EDIT: Bloodseeker with Quelling blade, is he possible to stop 1v1?

depends on the other hero.

Depends a lot on your teammates as well. If you have two people comited on not letting the other guy getting near you, it's a lot easier. On pubs you are competing against 3 other people quite often, 2 enemies and 1 ally, that's where QB really shines. Of course that depends on the place and level of play.

There's one very common situation where Quelling blade is necessary, it's when a ranged creeps and melee creeps attacks land on a creep at the same time, and before they land it's too high to be lasthitted and after those attacks hit it dies instantly. There might be like 2 ms during which you can lasthit but you can't really count on that. Those are the creeps that you can't get without quelling blade but can with it, if there's 3 situations like that it paid for itself. ( This is only for low base dmg heroes like Mortred, you don't have this problem with Void)

The real problem is often in not having a dedicated farmer on the lane. In any pro game it is decided who gets the majority of the farm/xp/kills. In pubs you don't trust your team mates so you both try to last hit it. Not trusting is something you learn after a while when you give your team mate free farm and he gets 30 cs in the lane phase. :/

Yes, I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just how it is, and it's a reason things don't translate 1-1 from pro games to pubs. Not only you don't ussually have a well designed team, everything you said is true. I would sooner go for a desolator Dazzle than trust any random teammate in Garena.

Top camp at ~51, walk straight down to the trees and make a turn a turn to either side as soon as you have activated the lower camp.
