I hope this is taken in to account in the survey, and they don't just bring in people that rate themself a 10 and reckon they have an average 20-2 kd. (rated myself a 6 personally) I'm assuming it all gets put in to a database, and they will pull people who's survey results are in line with what they need. For example if one hero isn't getting played as much as another I assume they will bring in a bunch of players who put that as their #1 played hero in dota. Or they might need someone who has a specific video card so they can test compatibility with it so they'll use the hardware survey results... etc etc etc. Yeah, I actually feel like the first few questions were mostly to test if you knew DotA. Like if you answered average level 23, 15-2 every game, or some ridiculous amount of gold then they know you've probably never played before. Imagine all the people answering level 85 or something from WoW. I just answered honestly. I think the most important questions are your most played heroes, and I admit I fudged that one a little bit, answering Bristleback and Clockwerk because I don't think many people picked those. Bristleback is one of my favorite heroes though so I'd love to play him in the beta. ![]()

It seems like the survey is just there to have a lower number of possible invites, and to see who is more dedicated in trying to get a key, since I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't care enough about DotA2 to fill out a survey. Additionally, the more important thing to them is probably the hardware information. I am hoping they would add Meepo, but I doubt that they will anytime soon. Definitely put him at #1 played.

Why should words be more honest than numbers? I mean they just ask you to estimate your average, it's not like they'll hunt you down if you write a bit above or below your actual average.

If you think they're choosing based on your specific answers being "correct" I think you're delusional. I'm pretty sure they're just going to choose a wide spectrum of "skill levels" based on what people put as their skill, gold level, and k/d averages. If someone puts their skill as 9, k/d at 53/3, and gold at 900, then I think that will put them just about middle of the pack for "real" skill level, lol.

Just because I would have absolutely no way of knowing given that I haven't played a game of DotA in years, at least since HoN beta came out. Sure the boxes are small, but it'll fit enough text to just put a comment relating to the question. If not honest, it was just easier for me at least. Not to mention the questions asking for averages are quite pointless, as those types of stats can depend on many different variables based on each game. This can result in a very wide range of stats every game. Also these stats are probably not very accurate in trying to determine things about a player. The questions about overall experience and top 5 heroes would be more useful however, and I feel they were good questions to put on a survey.

Yes i agree with the majority of the questions being rather pointless. But i'm just thinking that by writing text you esentially add the necessity of someone actually reading your survey. where as a number can be handled by a computer. Also i still can't seem to understand why it should be easier? Just make a guess y'know. Can ask what you answered though, in hero kills or whatever? Just to get some understanding cause i can't seem to work out a text based answer that'd be easier or better in some of those questions.

Or was the question what is your average kills to death? There was one for average kills in a game, that came right before the average deaths in a game. I ended up putting 3 and 7 respectively, but who knows if that holds true because I stopped playing Dota in 2007 ![]()
