Also I'm pretty sure your answers for K/D, gold, and heroes will have almost no effect on who gets invites seeing as people can easily lie about that.
Filling in the 500+ games bubble and 104 heroes played was pretty depressing though. I played in NAIHL and I don't have the beta. Most high skill players do not have the beta, unless they were in the DotA1 beta or are connected to a sponsored team. Anyway the rating is pretty subjective; I'm low masters/high diamond in SC2 and if you asked me to rate my SC2 ability I'd probably say 5/10 because I think I'm trash. In either case, who cares, it's all arbitrary. The same debate has raged on endlessly in DotA1 about what can be considered high skill and ninja skill and gosu skill and fml. And obviously the answers have an impact on who gets in, otherwise they wouldn't make a survey.
I played in NAIHL and DXDi/DXDin and I was what I would consider decent...however, I havent played since DXDi dissolved, and I feel like I'm terrible now, so I gave myself a 7. I don't think the answers have an impact on who gets in; I think they're just there so that as long as you answer the survey, you are given a key, since a lot of people signed up for the Dota 2 Beta, but don't want to go through the survey-filling process.
Anyone know when they're actually sending out the first wave of keys?

I don't know it exactly but if I have a great game with Magmus my GPM will be much much higher than it was with equal score etc. on Sand King. I don't think I've seen any games in Dota 2 where someone gets over 550 GPM (and that'll be with like 25 kills 3 deaths 400 CS), whereas in HoN you'll see people ricing a la testie or chu or something and get 750-1000 GPM.
I beg to differ. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/301582_198193763591441_176275939116557_439146_231067045_n.jpg Linklink bossing around in dota 2.

oh fuck there was no average creep kills question? That's why I don't remember filling in average kills. I did the same fucking thing. Oh well 200 kill club what up

Please estimate your average total gold earned in a DOTA match
Anyone have an answer for this, I have literally no idea. I also can't remember when I started playing dota, it was back when the newest hero was Pit Lord (I think) and Cranium Basher wasn't an orb effect and SB was fucking awesome/constant stunlocks.

10k-30k
Also basher is no orb effect, it is a bash

Don't worry so much dude, it's not about answering questions correctly. It's a survey, not a quiz.

I assume they'll use parameters to dictate who should get an invite. If I put I got 9 kills, 7 deaths and then put a number that logically doesn't correlate with the k/d (or the hero that can attain those kinds of numbers), then I am less likely to get an invite.

its too hard to put a number on that. Considering all the variables, theres no way to tell, apart from idiot testing, if your number is accurate. Seriously.

I don't think they will go that far. I think they may use the information to try to invite a playerbase as broad as possible, from all skill levels, experience and play styles. Some of the questions may be useful for things like which hero to release sooner or later, but completelly unrelated to the invites.

30k is a lot, that's like 600 gpm with 50 min average games, I don't think even pro players average that much. 200 gpm with 30min average games leads to 6k total gold, so i believe numbers around 5-15k are more likely.

Hope this means we're in the first wave! Some of those questions were hard to accurately answer without some dota league stat trackers lolll. I'll hook you up if they give 2 beta keys to current beta testers like they said to invitees on the blog post should you not get an invite. I wonder how many ppl they are actually going to invite this week at least. I wants one too~~~~~~ T.T
also about beta keys:
One thing everyone will tell you is that Dota is a game that’s more fun with friends. Because of that, we wanted to make sure everyone we invited could bring a couple of friends – so everyone who receives Dota 2 will be given two extra copies that they can hand out to whomever they’d like. You’ll find your extra copies in the Steam section of your Steam account’s item inventory, and you can use the Steam Trading feature to give them to your friends.

I've played with some VERY high skill people that have contributed huge amounts to the dota community and some of them don't have keys (some of them just pmed icey and he gave them LOL) The number of keys out there is really very very small atm
Plenty of good, high level players who i've inhoused with don't have keys

The hardware specifications and the skill level certainly. But i doubt that GPM and such will matter much it's just to get a general idea.

Yeah I wouldn't worry too much about the survey, lol. I really doubt they are going to go "omg this kid put 2k gpm scrub no invite for you!" its likely all automated in some fashion and not picked by hand.
|
Yeah I don't think they will look to much into the survey but I think it will play a small part. Such as just throwing out stupid values like "average gold: 9999999" etc etc
I know for average kills and deaths I just put what I remembered ... but I only remember when I do go so ... SKEWD VALUE ANYONE?
