NSL Season 3 Begins Today
Season 3 of the Nexon Sponsorship League begins today in Seoul, South Korea. With 2 very successful seasons behind them, Nexon is continuing to increase it's production value and grow the Korean Dota 2 scene to a higher state. This final season will be quite the spectacle with the newly formed Team Zephyr, consisting of Purge, Blitz, SexyBamboe, Eosin, and Corey. They all took the trek to Korea this past month with the hopes of qualifying for the top 8, and competing in this season. They accomplished this with ease, and will hopefully show us some great games and help propel the Korean scene even further.
This season, like Season 2, will have a bit smaller of a prize pool, with a $56,880 sponsorship prize for first place. As well, the winner's of Season 1 and 2 will not be able to participate, so Startale and MVP Phoenix will not be present.
The team list will be fairly similar to last season. It will be nice to see fellow TL user Rem1kz and his team in action, and as always MVP hotsix will be a contender. Team Zephyr, as stated above already, will be the team to watch this season. Win or lose they will put on a good show.
The format will be like season 2, with double elimination starting in the quarter/semi finals, and will be bo3 until the semi-finals, which are bo5 from then on out. If you are in Seoul, head over to the GOMTV studio to catch the games firsthand.

I'm not 100% sure if Black is playing with MVP or not, so I didn't mention it yet. And also I wonder if the Carn on ReM1kZ team is the sc2 carn.

Why do I get the feeling that this experiment is not going to cause more Dota 2 teams to form, it seems like It's a smaller tournament every season.

I just mean, compared to season 1, there are way less teams.

Sc2 carn was definitely playing the qualifiers with a team, probably safe to assume its him.
Edit - confirmed. https://mobile.twitter.com/cArn_sc/status/421646521646346240

Why? I don't think DotA in Korea can die almost instantly after appearance.

Missed dat thing. So, they will finally move to some real tournaments except league where everyone can play and show some skill. Hope, some well-established teams will find their way into DotA even though it will surprise me a lot with upcoming LoL Proleague.
Glad for Koreans, hope to see one team from region on TI4. *inb4 Korean are TI5 champions*

He won season 2 with MVP. You can only win an NSL 1 time.
|
black is not going to be playing for hot6 as far as i know. not sure what the reason was and i find it interesting that you didnt mention 5inq at all as contenders, despite them almost beating phoenix last season. they changed 2 of their players but id still put my money on them to reach the finals.

The fact that Purge is on a pro team is just sad. He plays like garbage and I'm 100x better. That's just fucking sad, any random trash can make a team in KR scene

I think Zephyr already played against MVP and another team and won, right? Go team Blitz!
|
Birdgang was the only team worth rooting for that has gone to Korea so far I'm pretty sure
