This build isn't a solution to inferno past act 1 to be honest. It's lots of dodge but the first hits that comes through will destroy you.

Those stats are pretty good for Act 1 Inferno if he is running at least 300 to everything though. If not then oh well. A monk with those stats gets annihilated in Act 2.

It's mad spirit regen and bound to be bugfixed. You combine it with spamming mantra of healing with boon of protection. I personally wouldn't bother with it until you're seriously stuck. It's a boring build and up to inferno there's absolutely no need to run it, there's plenty of builds that are more fun to play and don't exploit bugs in the game.

It ended up being very very easy to get through it with that build, but it's not succeeding in Act 2 at all. Right. Dont worry about it though. You just have to wait until Blizzard hotfixes it. No idea how they didnt see this coming. We found this problem in under 6 days. They had this game in beta for like a year.

A critical hit is a critical hit. So you have synergy. GREAT! In my opinion, that's what everything should be about. No more linear masturbation.

No more linear masturbation. I'm not sure its working as intended though ![]() To quote myself from another thread: 4. Monks also have 1 broken build: The combination of fists of thunder: quickening rune, Mantra of healing with Boon of Protection, Sweeping Wind + Transcendence passive. Here is how it works: The quickening rune makes it so that 15 spirit is generated on critical hits. The sweeping wind attacks every enemy withing 12 yards, critting about 1-3 times per second generating massive spirit to the monk. Mantra of healing with boon of protection creates a shield for 2 seconds which absorbs 15% of all damage, as well as gives him 1240 life regen for 3 seconds. Transcendence additionally gives the monk 62 life per spirit spent. Mantra of healing costs 50 spirit so that's 3100 life. Combined monk can stand in the middle of any pack of mobs that doesn't 1-2 shot him and just spam-click Mantra of healing and be virtually invulnerable. I expect that more than half of all monks in inferno uses this build (including myself). http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=339179

I have this problem with my friends that think DoTs and effects over time "tick" but anyone can look down and see that its a realtime per frame effect. Just like Diablo 2. I've found that it triggers more often when I have more +chance to crit. Maybe it does something like 1% weapon damage 15 times per second per vortex?

That seems sorta similar, and could be what blizzard was intending for. I think it's the same with arcane, plagued and desecrater.

Yeah thats probably why it works. Critical strike chance most likely still affects over time damage. If you've noticed the way it gives spirit is a little wonky. For starters you need to be actively attacking the target with the correct punch, another punch wont work. Second of all, it doesnt give you the spirit in a very dependable manner either. Its up to Blizzards servers to give you all of it.

I was wondering how much better dexterity was over vitality before Inferno and the highest levels? If you look at the numbers, the two stats break even at 1000hp, both giving 10hp for 1 point. At the highest level you'll definitely need both maxed, but while leveling I think having a ton of dexterity seems the right way to go as you increase your dps too. You obviously need to have a minimum of vitality to avoid one-shots though, with Serenity (Peaceful repose rune) you should be fine.

The resist all passive will also give you physical resistance BTW. This makes Highest resistance to all passive and 100 percent of your Dex as armor passive mandatory passives, giving the monk only one real passive slot to play with. That slot should either be healing done per spirit spent, or damage reduction when attacking. If it comes down to the math of vit versus dex for survivable Vitality will win. But it's hard to quantify these because everything will one shot you if you have under 100k life starting somewhere around mid Act 2.
