are people using sweeping wind for the 3 stack effect? or is everyone just using for the quickening bug
i havent found any crit chance enchancing gear (if there is any) so i find that 5% crit rate is kinda low to go on if youre relying on the dmg from sweeping wind
am i missing something?

There is crit chance enhancing gear. It just doesn't really drop in normal much and shows up a bunch more in the later difficulties.
The Innocent shall suffer... big time.

I know I'm still in normal, but this is my current build:

I'm just waiting to unlock the "Serenity" Rune, Peaceful Repose. The idea is to go in there with 7-sided-strike, use serenity and then spirit regen with my basic attack followed up by Lash Kick or even Exploding Palm.

I also have weapons that regen Life as I attack.

Also, is there any use at all for a skill like Tempest Rush or Sweeping Wind?

i have run through normall and nightmare without knowign about the quicking bug and just by checking ont he skills sweeping wind is just so awsome you put it up 1 time and rest of the time you spam wave of light with the 285% thingy (this counts for normalla nd nightmare). basicly free dmg next to your other aoe abilitys. so evilfatsh you use it for the aoe dps nomatter what build imo (if you are solo). 5% crit is alot if youa re tanking 20 mobs, means theoreticly you get 1 crit everytime sweeping wind ticks, + you auto attack llike madd with FoT cuz its so fast. In practise you get more then 1 crit per tick of sweeping wind so its is even better if you play with quickening.

Anyhow the build also works very well with around 30% attack speed and fot w/o quickening. its not like you have to spam mantra of healing in normall and nightmare, and not even always in hell so have fun even if you dont want to make use of a " bug" (which is even not clear if its bug or not..)

People tend to take the same builds as ppl do in inferno. up to inferno you can run with sweeping wind, wave of light as dump for your spirit or cyclone with sunfire and serenity. fill up with what your prefer, myself i like dashing strike.

@surprisia, seize is not worth it if you/r not in hell+ rather take the xtra spirit regen passive if you already have that..

I already have a couple pieces of gear that increase my spirit regen, and because of some of my gear buffs, the armor is lower. that's why I'm using this.

If you dual wield you get 3 stack pretty damn fast and keep it up most of the time. I've not sure on getting the 10 second duration thing even necessary.

IM in hell and im finding my pure dext build extremely poor to solo, I think I will have to add some 400-500 vitality for it to get decent :/

Deadly Reach: Keen Eye seems to be by far the best spirit generator (glitches aside). +50% armor pretty much always makes you so much more tanky, and the range allows for nice kiting.

Then, Dashing Strike: Flying Kick is my favorite skill. Stun is always nice, but the mobility it gives is absolutely insane. It allows you escape Jails and always stay on the outside of the mob pack, plus you're basically immune while you fly. Much better than 7SS imo. Blinding Speed might be better if it has the same properties, but I haven't tried it yet.

This is for Hell btw, it allows you to be undergeared and still do fine.

without having to read the whole thread, can someone tell me why my mantra of evasion or whatever (dodge) doesn't do what it says it does? if i activate it, it says i get an extra 15%. yet i only go from 46.5% - 54.5%

Dodge is not additive, it's multiplicative.

So you have 46.5 x 15% , not 46.5 + 15%

What should monk do to maximize the dps guys? Like I have dual weapons with ~300 dex and still lower damage than a shitty staffs with 50 dex. I mean like what the hell am I supposed to get, this doesn't make sense.

currently what im running through hell with. just finished act 3. whether im in a group or solo i find it the best way (atm for me) to stay alive without resorting to the quickening bug and shit.

atm im level 60 with 11k dps 2.9k armor 30k hp.

Nobody use mystic ally? I found him pretty useful in Nightmare mode, some one to tank the damage with you.

Hi guys new to playing Monk, but already have a max'd Barbarian so I know the game decently well. Should I always be dual-wielding with my monk? And Dex / Vit are only stats I care about right?

I use mystic ally a lot in Inferno.

In teamplay it is like 100 percent of my damage and tanking. Im just around for spawning it.

When i am soloing act 1 Inferno have it out since I am otherwise spamming my aura over and over again to stay alive. With or without quickening bug. So special moves are pointless since all of my spirit is spoken for.

I usually have:

Breath of Heaven with spirit regen rune
Aura of either conviction or healing with overawe or boon of protection.
Sweeping wind with spirit regen.
Mystic ally, fire or earth.
Quickening bug punch for exploit or Way of hundred fists with spirit salvo. Sometimes I will also play with the last hit ranged attack on it, this one is always changing.
And Serenity with 4 second invulnerability.

I use AoE grinding to proc the crits the more mobs the better.

I do this build:

With this rotation:


Run in
Cyclone stike to get all the mobs together.
sweeping winds
and Fists of Thunder and Crippling wave using Mantra of Healing and Breath of Heaven to stay alive.


Cyclone strike with implosion rune has ridiculous pull radius so you can always keep winds proccing crits by sheer number.
Monk: Because being a badass is more fun then playing a dude wearing a scarf.. ... Ite fuck it, Witch Doctor cuz I like killing stuff in a timely mannor.

Because dexterity isn't the only thing that matters. You need to factor in crit damage, crit chance, +damage, attack speed, etc. when calculating damage. For the most part, the game does this for you.

I hope someone out there is working on one of those DPS calculators similar to the ones that WoW players use, where you can put it in a rotation and the thing factors in chance-on-hit stuff as well.

Any advice on the bump from Act I to Act II in inferno? Act I is really easy but in act II everything seems to rape me. Is it a gear issue or a l2p issue? Currently around 10k dps, 37k hp, around 200 resist to all.
