Ok so I took the advice and bought a few items w/ my 3.4mil that were upgrades. So here are my stats. I just did the start of act 2 and am still getting rocked somewhat. Am I doing anything wrong? I concede it could be my playstyle not being more passive(ie trying to treat it like act 1). But as far as stats go do they look good for act 2?
Spent 800k on a weapon, the rest on gloves/bracers/ammy/shoulders. I spent a lot of time shopping for deals on the AH though, and I also got a great deal on 60 res/140str shoulders by hanging out in the trade channel (and enduring the endless spam). I think it was more like 1.7 million total.
To be fair though, all my other pieces are at least half-decent and I found them while farming on my Wizard (in Act 3).
After a week of not playing and the coming of 1.0.3 when they nerf Inferno. I just want to beat Inferno or at least get to ACT 4 before the nerf. Re-started yesterday, I finally caved in and give up on DW(for now) and bough a 20K shield(lol at the price) and life has improve so much better. Before I was struggling with ACT 2 after Madga. Now I am at Belilah 5 hours after I bough the shield. Guess I will stick with tanky Barb till I finished inferno and then get some gold to live my DW dream again. EURO 2012 is starting though, not sure if I can keep playing D3 .
@Xinder: your dps is low for ACT2. I am quite low as well at about 10K, and get some sockets in your items

GAH! back to farming warden butcher then i guess. sigh. Everyone is freaking out about the nerf to inferno. They haven't even announced what they're changing. What if it's just them tweaking the spiky damage that they talked about not liking? would that be the end of difficult inferno? I dunno. I guess I prob shouldn't keep my hopes up since it is blizzard and they destroyed WoW b/c of catering to all the whiners.
I'm going to be liquidating all of my tank gear and using the sales to fund a 2h spec. I don't care if it ends up being worse. I find the game to be unplayable in this way. I'm sorry to be debby downer but it's just not fun to try and "tank" and kill things like a jackoff. I have 11k armor, 800-950+ resist, 40-50k hp depending on set and 16-20k dps depending on set and I still take forever to kill shit and die constantly. Even if I didn't die, tanking in a diablo game is the complete opposite approach I ever thought I'd be taking when I bought the game. I'm throwing in the towel. It's either 2H dps kill shit works, or I'm not playing until patch.
I'm glad to have 'cleared' inferno pre-patch as a personal accomplishment but that's it, I'm not having fun at all.
GLHF 2H beastmode, if this fails, I'm gone until at least the patch. :/
@crms: You tank in group game right? Or you meant with your stats you can't solo? I heard ACT 2 is the hardest ACT of them all O_O, now if its not true my hope for Inferno is . Just got to phase 3 Belilah first try with 9.8K DPS but I get 2-shotted by his floor bomb . @Xinder: Boost your resist as well I just notice your resist is with Warcry on, you can't survive elite in ACT 2 with that. with 700~800 you can kill most of the elite though. I can keep 5 stacks on forever but not in boss fight since skill switch is a must at this point for me.

Check out my post on the previous page, I'm 2-handing and it's worked great for me, I'm just past Maghda right now and I've had no problems at all so far (thought I would hit the notorious 'Act 2 brick wall' but just steamrolled through). In my post, there's also a link to a Reddit post by someone who's farming Act3 and who's killed Diablo with the same spec. It's a hell of a lot funner than sword/board, don't worry!
I started with playing a Demon Hunter and leveled up a Barbarian for fun as my second character. I never really cared for tanking mobs and stuck it out with the 2hander.
I've uploaded a video of an inferno Diablo kill.
Other than my damage my defensive stats are really low and I'm running 432 life on hit with 0% life steal. Ideally I'd like about 40-50k HP, a tad more damage/resist and a good weapon with life on hit + lamentation belt with frenzy damage + all resist.
I don't regularly run leap, usually favouring battle cry with the marauders rage rune.
Hello, I'm looking to start a barb on US SC, and have about 40mil saved up. Can someone give me a quick rundown on the best in slot items that I should be looking for, and the stats that make them good(so far I understand that string of ears and stormshield are good). Are there any item specific stats, like attack speed on gloves/jewelry, crit chance on bracers, etc. that I should look out for?
I want to get into act 3/4 inferno right away, so I probably have a lot of farming to do still.
Just killed Beliah with my 9.8K DPS Barb. Shield + 1H just make things so much smooth, I feel bad for DW and 2H Barb. They would need a much much better gear to finish the same ACT. 4 try total and I kill him after I stop playing like retard and dodge his floor attack in phase 3. You can kill Beliah with whatever DPS given that you can get away with the add in phase 1 and 2. Stats in spoiler + Show Spoiler +
Yeah, I am using a puzzle ring -_-
And yeah, Bosses are jokes in general. You can die 10 times to an imba elite but can kill bosses after a few tries. But we all know that already. It will be a long time till I can farm ACT 2 but fuk that I am moving on, farming can wait .
@skyR: I am in the market for a new weapon. Mine now is a 800DPS with 100str. Do you think switching to something 950DPS with no STR worth it? Since I don't want to pay millions for a over 1K DPS weapon.

Stormshield is quite godly for Barb, so if you can, get that. SOE is not a must though, since SkyR doesn't use one and he 5 stacks NV Diablo already. Low roll SOE will gimp your over stats too much that it makes the -% damage worthless.
Look for piece with 50 or more resist as well as VIT and STR on it. The more sockets you have the better and insert +Vit in those. If you have 40 mil to spend, no farming is needed I think .
You can roll back on this thread, I am sure people that in ACT 4 posted their screenshot.

Most, if not all the BIS are rares. String of Ears is good because of the 20% MDR, BIS would require you to roll perfect LOH, perfect all resist, along with vitality and strength. You want the maximum amount of sockets on everything that can have sockets along with strength, vitality, and all resist. MDR on bracers, IAS on gloves, movement speed on boots, etc. You will maybe afford one BIS piece with 40mil?

It depends on how much you buy the weapon for and how much you think you can resell for. It's probably not worth it since one strength equates to 1% DPS and strength also adds to your armor as well.

psystarcraft posted a video of himself getting 5 nv stacks and then killing diablo solo with a 2h. he died 2-3 times in the process of getting the stacks, though.
On June 08 2012 07:17 hunts wrote: Anyone know of an EHP calculator thing that includes block? Trying to figure out if I should buy a helm of command or not. Or can anyone tell me just how good block is?
Block is really, really good. There was a video of a guy that was doing a tutorial on how to farm barb inferno act 2. He took off half his items (manly, bare-chested barb!), and he was left with 300-400 res, 6000armor, 7000dmg, and he was just raping the hell out of elite mobs in act2. I got so mad and thought I just really suck at the game, but then paused at stats and noticed his shield/helm/rings/belt gave him 42% block chance and 24% melee reduction.
So block chance is really worth picking up, mainly because (unlike dodge), it also procs your Revenge skill. So high block chance = taking more hits AND getting more chances at heal. That being said, as mentioned above, make sure you get enough items to have balanced stats (armor/allres/damage/hp), before you rush to get 40%+ block chance. BUT, if you want to get a Helm of Command to hold you throughout inferno, then you might as well get one with max block chance. It won't help too much on its own, but after you add the stormshield and justice lantern, it will definitely make you that much tanky-er.

With only a 1.2 atk per second, you need more life pr. hit I would say. (I have around 1100 and still getting my ass handed to me in act 2)

No. He should almost completely disregard life on hit for now. LOH is not what keeps you alive, solid core defensive stats and good play do. He should focus on improving his resists, armor (through more str/vit, higher tier items with more base armor and +armor affixes) and a better shield (27%+ sacred shield with 3,7-4,7k block amount. Get a blue one, stats dont matter). Getting more strength, some atk speed and maybe a wep upgrade would also be very helpful to increase the dps.
I would aim for 800-900+ resists buffed with close to 10k armor and a good shield. Strengt and vit should preferably both be 1000-1200+, less vit than strength if you have a lot of +life%, otherwise about 1:1 ratio. Only when these core stats are good enough, should you focus on additional block% and LOH. People are way too obsessed over these secondary stats (meele reduction is another one). Ive killed diablo with 5 stacks if that makes my advice any more legitimate.
