Assuming you're going to buy IK boots or Firewalkers... you have a few options to get the additional 12% movement speed: Lacuni bracers, Inna's pants, Tyrael's Might, 300th Spear etc.. I have no idea of the actual prices since I stopped playing months ago... so choosing the best/cheapest solution is up to you.

Here's my barb: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Beesuit-1645/hero/34967104 Wow... looking back, it's hard to believe I went from struggling on MP4 to face-rolling MP10. I can even do the ubers without having to change my build (other than Blood Thirst > Brawler). I found WW+HoTA to be the most effective build (WW to mow down mobs, HoTA to bring down elite packs). The only thing that grates on me (as it did when DIII was first released) is that while I didn't invest a penny of my own money on the AH, I was forced to flip, buy and resell on the RMAH in order to get decent gear. It's utterly ridiculous how hard it is to farm an item that is of any use to you (or worth selling). You need to increase your crit damage, and the cheapest way to do that (from what I can tell) is to get an EF with a socket (either CD with socket or high strength with socket). Also consider replacing your Jousting Mail for Inna's Temperance (high vitality). From there you can replace your IK boots for an Ice Climbers with lots more strength. Ice Climbers that don't have movement speed (you won't need it, since you'll already be at 24% with Inna's + Lacuni's) aren't too expensive.

So the fire sale should really ramp up on the AH. My barb is similarly geared... 200k-230kdps depending on wether or not I have a cold SoJ. I played the PTR beta for around 2 hours... just zoned in and killed Ghom about 20 times on Torment 2/3...and found 3 decent rare sidegrades. I'd just stick with what you have unless you see something for real cheap on the AH..because the pre-RoS 2.01 patch will be here possibliy within a month, and RoS is 6 weeks away. So unless you have some need to get to Paragon100 pre-RoS I'd just hold off buying new gear. Save the gold for RoS.

Positive vibe: Loot 2.0 and Paragon 2.0 are great. The improvements made to the aesthetics of the game are impressive (the game looks better, runs smoother, and the waypoint layout is infinitely better, for example). Everything else: The main issue I continue to have is with the way the cooldown system is designed. It's simply not fun to use the super cool skill once for 15 seconds, then be forced to wait 2 minutes before using it again. In fact, it's actually very discouraging (situation: "Should I use my super cool skill now? Nah, I might need it later." You end up rarely using it.) Were it designed differently, we'd have seen lots more of, for example, Barbarians using Call of the Ancients or Earthquake builds instead of just perma Wrath of the Berserker. And there are plenty of suggestions that would improve on the current system enormously. One such suggestion, as an example, turns the WotB skill into an aura that can only be activated once every 2 minutes. Once activated, the WotB transformation will trigger if enough life has been lost, or if you've acquired a certain amount of kills in a single blow. That simple suggestion is already ridiculously better than the current "you must wait" system. Challenge requirements to use skill >>>>> being forced to wait to use skill. A friend of mine told me that the developers responsible for D3's design choices are almost all MMO devs, which would explain the awful cooldown times. You don't need cooldowns to last for more than one or two seconds, and even then this is only to prevent you from spamming it. Another issue I have is with the reduced monster density. It was so frantic and SO much fun in 1.0.8. The immense number of goatmen, for example, presented a situation that we had not seen in Diablo's 1 & 2. A density slider would be great. I assume this is due to the life steal nerf, but huge mobs + life steal >>>>> tiny mobs + no life steal. And that brings me to another issue: life steal nerf. So... they want to remove or greatly reduce our ability to suvive? I don't know about everyone else, but constantly dying isn't my idea of a good end game. I mean, surely that's why they're removing it. Simply stacking LoH instead seems silly and pointless (might as well just leave LS the way it is). Isn't Diablo supposed to be a power fantasy game, by the way? Whatever happened to the "There is no such thing as too much power" design philosophy? That's a big contradiction, no? Beyond that, well, I tried... and I'm not trying to sound like a baby, but I just can't get used to this awful nerf. I know, WW + perma wrath was overpowered. But it had a unique charm to it. There's nothing like seeing a mob of some 30-40 goatmen in the Fields of Misery on screen and mowing them down. It was exciting and exhilarating. Overpowered? Okay, then why not balance it instead of axing it? Why ruin the fun for those who like spinning around at high speeds? Reduce fury generation, remove perma wrath, but the reduction to fury generation, removing perma wrath AND reducing WW speed is too much. The reason why I returned to D3 was because two friends of mine had told me about how much fun the WW/HotA barb is to play. It reminded us of D2. No need to worry about stupid long cooldown times, lifesteal kept the action going and fury on crit kept things from being too tedious (now it takes so long and is so tedious just to conjure enough fury to get two or three hits off with HotA). I'm not going to invest months on end with the expansion as I did with my WW build only to have Blizzard ruin it because they don't know how to balance it (I've seen boulder barb builds, but I'm afraid I'll enjoy too much only to have Blizzard axe it). I mean, isn't the point of Diablo to hunt for items so that you can get powerful enough to use the build you want? Isn't that the essence of the game? The WW barb is useless without good gear, and I spent over 3 billion gold and several months of playtime in order to get my barb good enough to handle MP10. You then keep them things fresh by having ladder resets. I honestly believe Blizzard doesn't know how to balance their games correctly. Back in Diablo 2, people rightfully complained about Iron Maiden for over a decade because it rendered WW useless against it. Blizzard ignored those complaints until a few months prior to D3's release, where they basically said "Hey, look at how much we care about our customers! We're going fix an annoying problem for a 10 year old game!" And instead of balancing it, they just completely removed Iron Maiden from the game. (And it's not that I like overpowered builds, by the way; I disliked the Hammerdin in D2.) And take a look at the Hurricane rune: it doesn't suck up every single monster within its radius anymore. It WAS great, but now it's been nerfed to the point of being frustrating and simply not worth it. People often debunk WW and call it "spin to win", which doesn't make any sense. The blizzard sorceress in Diablo 2 uses blizzard. Only. Would you then call it "blizz to- ...win?". It especially doesn't make any sense when you consider the simple fact that WW was downright awful against single targets regardless of how good your gear was, so you couldn't rely solely on WW. In short, in attempting to balance the Barb, Blizzard made things tedious and frustrating with the combination of crit nerf, LS nerf, WW speed reduction, and mob density nerf. If they could just rework the cooldown system, things would be so much better. Well, that's was my opinion about 2.0.2. I have more to say, but it's just a rant about how inconsistent Blizzard is, so no need to read any further. More TL;DR, but only a little: + Show Spoiler + -When you kill an elite pack that has the plague affix, the plague pools will disappear when all of the elite monsters die. ... but when you kill an elite pack that has the arcane enchanted affix, the arcane beams will still spin around even after all of the monsters are killed. -When you come across an elite pack that has the frozen affix, you'll be given opportunities to escape being frozen via visual cues from the ice crystals. ... but ... Blizzard, in their ultimate knowledge of how to not make any sense, decided that when you come across the jailer affix, you'll simply be frozen, or "jailed" in place without a moment's notice. No cues. No indications. Nothing. You'll just suddenly get stuck. (Simple and far superior alternative for the WoW designers at Blizzard to consider: throw "halos" or "rings" on the ground upon encountering the jailer affix, which will disappear and reapper else where, and if you step over one of them, you get "jailed". There. Challenging AND fair.) -You can buy or sell Fiery Brimstones on the AH, but you can't buy or sell Demonic Essences on the AH. -It took us two years, but now we finally have commas everywhere. But for those two years THERE WERE COMMAS WHEN SEARCHING FOR AH PRICES, BUT THERE WERE *NO* COMMAS WHEN SELLING OR TRADING GOLD! ... Really, you have to count your zeros and hope you don't make a mistake. ... fuck what the¿ All of this reminds of Diablo 3 at release. Blizzard did everything they could to diminish the player's ability to farm for themselves so as to encourage RMAH trading. Diablo was always a loot game, but Blizzard tried to pull a fast one in hopes of making more money. People wouldn't have it, so they pulled the "This game was always about loot, so we're going to remove the AH and put loot back in the game, just to show you guys how much we care and pay attention" card. Yeah, you could have, ya know, left loot in the game while also having the AH. It's become really hard to trust Blizzard. It really seems like they don't what they're doing.

Life steal isn't necessary, loh/regen/health globes/potions/defensive skills are more than enough to survive now that everything can roll 300vit/80ar/sockets. Although I would say that removing life steal is another indirect nerf to 2H play, since loh isn't viable in that case. That said, I hate the current state of barbarians. Pre-patch we had 2 OP skills in a sea of crap... now the OP skills are gone. The main issue I see is fury generation, due to a number of reasons: - the amount of fury gained by receiving damage is negligible (this is one of the major flaws in class design IMO) - primary skills suck, and suck even more with low attack speed / 2H. It was that way pre-patch, now it's worse since they nerfed fury generation AND ias on gear - everything else either has a long cooldown (shouts, leap/charge) or it generates fury depending on the number of monsters hit. Which seems cool until you play the game (developers don't) and realize that 1.08 density is gone, so in 90% of the game you can hit one mob at a time - Battle Rage needed a few alternatives pre-patch, exactly because it was the only decent (OP in reality) fury generator, but the problem was never addressed. Just a simple suggestion I made looong ago: make a skill/rune that fills the fury globe! That way you can circumvent some limitations (slow attack speed) while making the "+ maximum fury" affix relevant (it was relevant for HOTA builds, which are gone) - speaking of affixes, barbarians have 2 class specific items: mighty belts can no longer roll life steal, so that's gone too. Mighty weapons can roll max fury, which as I said is useless, and life per fury spent (only legendary weapons maybe, I don't know). So that leaves us, in the best scenario, with a grand total of 1 semi-useful barbarian-specific affix. Pre-patch mighty weapons were useless because of Weapons Master, now that the passive has been nerfed they should be ok, right? Right?? Wrong! They nerfed the fury generation bonus for mighty weapons too, from 3 (which was already low by the way) to... 1. How cool! So my first reaction, as always, was to put the fury passives and the full IK set on, and things went obviously better. Then I played a bit with my wizard, saw that I can farm 3 times faster, and I never touched the barbarian since then, except for farming white items at Normal difficulty in the Cursed Hold (since Sprint is useful there). In RoS things will be different IF we manage to find some useful legendaries/set, until then I think the class will be pretty boring. What really bothers me is the fact that Avalanche (unlocked at lv61) fits a 2H build, but I struggle to find a decent one. I played a lot with Furious Charge (Merciless Assault) + Rend, but it is really viable only in high density dungeons.

Yeah, I've heard good things about the timebubble/frozen orb wizard. Supposedly it's one of the most effective and enjoyable builds at the moment. I want to try it, but like I said, I'm worried I'll enjoy it too much, which always seems to result in Blizzard saying "You know what, there are too many people having fun with this build, let's nerf it to bits so that it's just as boring and tedious as everything else."

After 1week return to D3, I've realised that barbs are in a pretty bad spot when it comes to sustain. The 1 effective way i've realised is by stacking toughness & hp, using our skills that heal % of max hp. Overpower & Rend are good examples. With enough toughness, you can still run around using Rend to sustain yourself without dying. The 2 effective build i've seen that doesn't depend on LS is the thunderfury-barb & the good old rend/run away barb. Yes, the item. That weapon is basically the BIS 1hander with insane damage and proc rate, especially comboed with Frenzy. The sustain is done via Life per Fury spent(using health globe bonuses) and stacking defenses to make effective use of the static life gained and using HOTA to spend fury. I am trying not to despair for when ROS hits, as my goal is to be T6 viable(aka can kill elites in T6). I may just roll a wizard and use the insane 4piece tal rasha set and be done with D3 ![]()

However since your alternating weapon swings you can actually lose damage if your offhand is a lot worse then your mainhand. If your weapons are roughly equivalent you gain dps. If there not you probably lose dps.

My solution to the issue is twofold: Let elemental damage happen and use the Superstition passive, and use Reaper's Wraps bracers to generate fury from health globes. Now that Malthael occasionally drops the relevant mats, this should become more reasonable for people to do (I just got lucky). Here's my build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bZkRlT!Vjei!Zccb.b And my character: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/zipz0p-1261/hero/3782228 I've heard good things about certain weapons and stacking, say, fire damage, but at my gear level, I'm not sure it matters much, or would be that great. I can do Torment 3 solo pretty reasonably, and with some powerful damage dealers tank that kind of stuff just fine. I don't know if this is really that great, but it's my most effective build to date. Fury generation is hard, and I don't like moving slowly whirlwinding... maybe I should suck it up and go back to whirlwind anyway, though. What are other people doing?

The offset of using WW is that you'll rarely encounter fury problems if you're using Wind Shear so you spend less time using the weaker fury generators. Up to you really.
