I'm tinkering with this life-on-hit tank doctor build I put together a few days ago... http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Asvhald-2547/hero/313297
So far so good, act 3 Inferno and I'm pretty much unkillable (killed 2 elite packs at the same time in the castle dungeons, under the effects of a hangover lol) unless I botch things myself.
I haven't looked up tank doctor builds so surely it is not perfect but hey, it works! (Next time though, I'll make sure I don't forget to get a follower).

Just as a note, they removed on-hit procs for pets, and this includes life on hit, so you aren't getting any life on hit from big stinker and burning dogs, at least the dogs might be better as the life leech ones.

can anyone give me suggestions how i can get higher damage/speed.
i can run act 3 really easy and i am using a firebomb, zombie bear(400k-800k(with soul harvest and max gruesome feast 1m) crits) build. i will buy zunimasas chest armor when i find the money and think my weapon and belt are pretty bad and had a better glove but i needed the 7 pickup radius so i am using it right now.

My items suck balls compared to yours but I have 16k more dps.
You don't need to buy Zuni's set chest, you can easily get an big upgrade for less than 5 million. Search for 120int, 180vit and 3 sockets.

The pet auras still proc a tiny little bit, don't they? I thought it was like 2% or something.
|
Just checked, seems like big stinker gives no LOH procs, but burning dogs do. Check for yourselves, but it was pretty clear that this was the case when I tested it.

Thanks for the data, you and the rest. Will test a bit and adjust the build.
Edit: re-checked the patch notes and the proc coefficient for the burning dogs has been reduced from 100% to 5%... still, 5% of your LoH per aura tick without me needing to do anything I think is cool.
About the Garg, it seems they removed procs from him entirely, but I think I'll keep him as he distracts foes and does some damage (+bad medicine) with his poison aura. May test variations though.

I have been playing my witch doctor after the patch and i have to say i found pretty nice build for starters in inferno. This build almost does not consume mana and is all about kiting and slowing enemies, while using soul harvest all the time. I recently cleared act1/2/3 with this build and i have to say it is awesome, even with my gear which is pretty terrible. I have 34k dps (without soul harvest) and 39k hp with 400 all ress. One thing about this build is that reflect damage really hurts, so you want to have at least 500 loh.

SV is excellent for tankdoctors! It allows them to completly drop their hp to buy time for their hp gaining CD(they can be less tanky and get higher dps). These are very very often spirit walk and soul harvest, which SV gives RCD to. What tankdoc does not use spirit walk and soul harvest? Just look at spirit vessel as yet another defensive CD. Imo spirit walk and soul harvest are some, if not the, best skills in the WD's arsenal. SH gives insane dps increase and has super-useful runes. SW gives invincibility and has super-useful runes. That's why I love SV, and thats why playing without SV confuses me.
And now im about to go full-on maximum hypocrite, I just dropped SV myself. In the post where I asked "how to play without SV" I also mentioned getting a Thing of the Deep mojo. It always has 20pick-up radius and would allow me to use grave injustice and gruesome feast. But what I didnt know about GI was that it also has RCD. Taadaa! I dont need SV to RDC for SW and SH because GI does it so good that I dont notice those 2 seconds RCD from SV.
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/WakaDoDo-2746/hero/15069941 Sacrifice and CoL passives does not feel optimal however. I just dont know what passive to use instead of SV and im not sure if I need ZD as an active skill. I want more survivability and blowing up dogs for hp just dosent cut it :/. But oh my god is it absolutly fucking hilarious XD!

iirc i did it with about 12k, but I'm not 100% certain. Also i had far less armor (no shield) but a bit more all ress but I managed him. Make sure you don't get hooked, wich he will attempt more often since you are a ranged hero

@WakaDoDo The point is that in the late game item setup (like 100k dps+) and if you want to be the most efficient, your skill setup isn't that good. Sure it's probably fun to blow up some dogs, but with Blood Ritual + VQ/SA/SV + PtV bears are just the best choice.
And SV IMO is a must since often you will find yourself in situations where even with 500k+ ehp you would die (walls+arcane+desec+jail etcetc) and it allows you to be more reckless with your bears - aka making your run faster.
IMO there's only one over all efficient build (of coarse you can switch 1-3 skills around but the idea stays the same)
|
I don't agree that unsurvivable situations happen that often. In my experience it happens like once every 3h playtime. (EDIT: after a more serious reconsideration, not 3h. Maybe once every hour.)
Well the dream would be to some how throw in PtV as the third passive. My build can't consistently provide enough mana regeneration though. Even with manarune on SH, locustswarm manarune and spider manrune I still run out. Maybe with Zunimassa 4-piece set-special I could get enough. Only one way to find out! :D
And yea the dogs/sacrifice stuff isnt gonna for long .

whats the best way to go for weapon? I see rares with 1200+ dps on them, or am I better off with last breath/manajuma's with less dps?

Seeing some of the others peoples WD here, made me realize how little damage my WD has :s
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Warlock-2166/hero/18810235
I have saved about 30m , what should i upgrade first?
And i'm also wondering how useful is life leach in inferno? Since i'm using a realy slow 2h (so i can spam bears longer with less mana cost per second) LOH is not realy that usefull to me. Would it be enough to deal with reflect damage elites, who are my worse enemies at this point, or even enough to replace grave injustice?

i want a weapon like yours maybe with a socket(found a Maximus with pretty good stats and missed it ) and will eventually buy zunimassa's marrow.
i use spirit walk(jaunt) and spam bears on reflect damage elites until my spirit walk ends. if they are not dead(almost every group dies except extra health stuff, collossal golgor and tremors)

Wow that's a nice strategy for reflect enemies, it never even crosed my mind that they canot reflect damage to you while under spirit walk :o. I've been mostly using healing journey as a crapy healing ability after my life has alredy been reduced to almost nothing when fighting reflect enemies. I think i will try jaunt for a while... Thank you

why not use sever as a witch doctor?
or skorn for that matter.

Personally, I'm not willing give up two mana regeneration items.

Well in my case, i use an 2H , the dager and the mojo would have to give me atleast 30mana regeneration to be on pair with the reduced mana usage of skills when using a slow 2h.
And also some skills scale much bether with high damage and slow weapons, than low damage high speed ones. In WD case the acid rain and the pryogeist are realy superb with a really slow 2h. The only downside is a slower casting animation.
