This is what I am running all the time now. Tested in act 1, 2, 3, 4 inferno and doesn't drop a beat I think it is the most fun build ot play and also one of the more effective ones.

Can you guys help me with build suggestions/cheap gear (I have maybe 500k to spend) that will make it easier for me to really get farming going? http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/beef42-2324/hero/4029622 Please be gentle, I play casually and my stuff is just almost entirely self-found and I'm sure my skills are very wrong. Your skills are not perfect but alright. Indeed your equip is the problem. First and foremost you need All resist and some vitality to complement your int. You need to spent your 500 k wisely on the auction house, then you should be fine.

Your main concern right now should be all resistance on items. You have very little at the moment and thats whats killing you. I recommend farming A1 and building up, in general you should have this kind of approach to gear: defence: chest, legs, boots, belt, shoulders. offence: gloves, bracers, rings, ammy, weapon / offhand. Helm is kind of a wildcard I guess, I tend to have more defencive stats on mind, and obviously if you plan on being more defensive gets a shield off hand. Anyway what I mean by this is simple - on 'defence' items prioritise all res and vitality, maybe armour but all res is waaaay better. On the offencive pieces priorities offencive stats, as you are low on cash its probably better to get int and if you can some ias. Crit chance and crit damage are ideal but to improve dps you need a lot of both and thats expensive. So with that in mind you can decide how much to spend. Dont go and buy something with vit + all res + dex as your defence gear, just because its cheap, wait a few days and find something as cheap with int instead. Generally you'll be able to find good gear for less than 100-200k that will allow you to progress, if you focus defence anyway. If you want to have good defence and good offence expect to spend at least 1mil per item. Dont waste time with stats like life on hit if you're on a budget either. Its only a good stat if you have 800+ imo. Anyway to give you something to aim for here is my gear / build: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Adwo-1534/hero/412995 I bashed my head against this game for ages trying to go for an 'all rounder' style, not glass canon and not uber tanky. Pre-1.04 was too frustrating to try after a while but as soon as 1.04 hit I rolled through A3 & 4 no problems, and some nice drops boosted me up to be able to farm A3 very comfortably.

You can probably get huge equipment upgrades for quite cheap. Some of your equipment that is really really bad and therefore inexpensive to upgrade: Boots Offhand yellow Ring Chest Amulet Put an at least slightly better green gem into your weapon if you have money left. The main stats you're looking for on the new equipment are probably something like "Crit Dmg / Chance / Attack speed when possible > Int > All Resist > Vit > Physical Resist" Later you can also go for Life Regeneration and Life on Hit, but that's luxury for most builds imo. 10 armor = 1 All Resist. Skills-wise I would take Spirit Walk (Jaunt) instead of Big Bad Voodo and I would rune my Gargantuan so he can enrage, although stun might just be fine.

I think a little life on hit is really not a bad idea, i only have like 200 and it counters the reflect damage mobs completely. Its also good for running around at 100% hp all the time.

Works quite well; while the minions tanks I run around like crazy dodging shit and tossing shit and I get pretty good life back (not to mention 2 oh-shit buttons) so I was able to make it to A3. My dps is pathetic though, so here's the question. Should I farm A3 really slowly or farm A1 really quickly? My earlier build with bears, big bad voodoo, and pierce the veil absolutely wrecks A1.

Get crit on your neck and bracers then buy a good 2h with crit and socket. Don't worry about the loh loss, pet builds take almost no damage compared to the rest.

Sounds like you are a perfect candidate for vault of the assasin runs in act 2. Find the vault in desolate, clear it -> road to alcarnus -> ancient path (but don't go up all the way past the stairs) goblin -> sewers -> black canyon, if you want to extend the run a little you can check the waypoints of oasis and desolate sands for extra elites. Once you are done, leave game, make new one and you'll be at the entrance of vault. Reason for this is vault is in desolate sands and that area is huge. Not killing the bosses or getting saved to a checkpoint improves the efficiency a lot.Vault has an insane amount of elites.

I'm able to complete these runs at a (to me) acceptable pace and have found a few things I've posted for auction. The only slight problem is the fire constructs' tendency to instagib my dogs. I s'pose I can run soul harvest instead and kill things a little quicker.

If you want damage, then start stacking crit on your item slots. If your pets aren't dying, then remove 1 of them to free up another slot. And upgrade your gems.

I only have 2.5m atm but some stuff up in ah that should increase that to 5m+ Your gear should be good enough to beat the game now if you wanted. I was able to do so with overall weaker gear, with the exception being health regeneration (but you have some life on hit). I also have more crit/crit dmg but way less intelligence (resulting in lower DPS). 1.04 made it a decent bit easier, especially for WDs. As Heh_ said, bringing in some crit/crit damage would be a good way to upgrade your DPS if you wanted to go that route. Life regen per second could help if you wanted to more heavily rely on pets tanking for you. Our defensive stats are somewhat comparable (mine a bit lower) and I found that zombie dogs were starting to have trouble in act 3 without the regen, but higher DPS could solve that problem as well by reducing the time they need to tank. For reference: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/elZilcho-1873/hero/238821 My gear is pretty bad, but it got the job done.
