Hey guys. I just hit lvl 60 today. Bought a few items and I had around 34k dps, 25k hp with ~200 all resists. I beat Act 1 and now I'm on Act 2 but I get destroyed there pretty easily. Those Lacuni who jump at you, and also throw mortars kill me in 1-2 secs. I ran into a Rare boss, he also beat me pretty quickly with Mortar. Any suggestions?
34k dps with 2H blue 1130 dps mace. 25k hp, around 200 resists. Here's my build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#cRQXOS!YXb!YbYaYZ I also like to use Disintegrate for it's piercing attack. The orb seems pretty slow, but it's open ground in Act 2 so I figure it's better.
My problem is that I'm dying almost instantly to many of their attacks. Should I farm Act 1 + look for int/vit/resist gears? Switch to using Blizzard and take out glass cannon?

should be able to kill him fairly easily with 40k dps.i chose to keep force weapon for Belial. He died while doing his 2nd hands in the ground channel attack. he really melts fast with AO/Hydra.
what is your atk speed and crit? your dps seems pretty high for a 900 dps weapon. i think i really need crit but i can't find shit.
Crit 8%/50%, atk speed 1.93atk/sec.
I run blizzard hydra so it takes a lot longer for me to kill him. I heard AO is pretty bad with fast AS since you just burn your mana really fast and the orbs themselves aren't as strong as they would be with a 2h? Also I just don't prefer the style of play ^^
And it definitely feels doable; the only reason I haven't cleared him yet is because of my own failures at dodging his attacks which can be remedied outside of gold. Woop. A muuch needed difference from 23k dps pre-magic weapon x_x, actually. My total equips might be around 2-4mil total. Hard to estimate.
Above post: I used to use diamond skin but I fuond teleport with fracture, with some time for adjustment, can be better with illusionist.
BTW I litearlly ran through the sewers witih wormhole, crystal shell, illusionist, blur, and the odd potion.
I think once you hit 70% damage reduction on armor / resists, it starts to become better for vitality point for point. I don't know the exact number for when the diminishing returns start to kick into overdrive. Probably 5-600+ resist.
Ideally all pieces of equipment should have 50-60+ resist all on it, which is fairly easy to achieve. 8 armor pieces + 3 accessories allows for 400-480+ resist all on the gear pieces + whatever you want on rings / amulet.

That's a ton of attack speed when the only spell that benefits is hydra + cast time on blizzard. I imagine you're sitting around doing nothing for a large portion of p3 / in general when you play? Have you considered picking up MM at least for the boss fight?
I'm having alot of trouble with belial, this is crazy. I have 30k hp 25k damage unbuffed, 33k buffed, and about 250 res, I've tried like every combination of build and I die every time to the adds, they somehow hit me when it feels like I'm very much out of range for a melee attack. Any thoughts?
I did watch someone's video on here, I wouldn't be able to use that because my damage is way too low without magic weapon

Oh it would probably be really good to note that I use piercing orb ^^
Should I sell it and get something better with the money or keep it? I have quite a shitty weapon and I didn't even get to act 2 yet and it gives me a 2.1k dps increase and 2k hp.

Opinions? Also, what's better, 1h+offhand or 2h?
Keep it. It has low dps (though a nice roll of dex) and +attack speed which is pretty bad on weapons, so I doubt you could make any real money on it.
I finally got my Belial kill today. All for some shitty +armor pauldrons. Never again..
Ran it with a group, another wizard and a DH. DH was better geared so we let him do all the damage and both of us specced cc. I took wave of force/blizzard/teleport with fracture/FA/DS/venom hydra to help dps a little bit. Other wizard swapped venom for frost nova and mirror image instead of hydra/blizz for more cc
I didn't really know this until it happened, but Wave of Force actually reflects Belial's phase 2 projectiles. So do the wave of forces that mirrors and teleport fractures. If you're a wiz and partying with someone i suggest trying it out cause it helps avoid random deaths when you're avoiding the snakes. With mirror image and fractures also doing wave of force at random times you basically can block all of his projectiles lol. ----
Just as a side note, I have been decently close to killing solo using the same build as above but with magic missile (I think any signature would do) instead of WoF (and by decently close, i mean anywhere from 20-70% in phase 3) with 17k DPS and 22k hp. It's definitely possible without being geared up heavily. I'd upload a video but a) I never want to see that ugly fucker again and b) my computer is too shitty to record while playing D3. I'll write basically what (almost) worked for me with shitty gear.
You need illusionist to make it work imo, the additional teleports are invaluable in the small space. I ran evocation also. 3rd passive optional really, had glass cannon for a long time but I beat in cooperative using astral presence cause helps me blizzard more.
For part I, the idea is just to avoid any damage. Throw blizzard and hydra at the very beginning and teleport to a side, save diamond skin for when they're close and teleport away and run to the other side when they hit you and kite them the other way. Sometimes you'll get unlucky with spawns and they'll spawn right on you, but most of the time you can adjust. Part I should be cake though after a while.
Part II is really unpredictable cause Belial is a flying little motherfucker. With some +movespeed you can basically lead him around (this helps with another player because essentially you can run in a circle and let him slowly inch toward you without hitting you while another person shoots everything at him, if you do it right Belial won't retaliate. You can keep going even after the spawns come but typically that's when you have to start moving elsewhere and he starts doing actual stuff), but when he flys to you to strike it's almost a guaranteed hit unless you teleport or DS. I shouldn't have to tell you that the projectiles he throws target your location when he flings them, so you don't have to move that far to avoid it.
But then, snakes.
This is where it gets stupid because you have to kind of stop focusing him, which means his health is going down a lot, lot slower. Your priority 1 is to kill the adds in time before additional ones spawn. Meanwhile Belial is gonna be flying all over the fucking place socking you and throwing his poison thingys of death (anyone know if all of belial's attacks are poison element?). For a while they would 1-shot me without DS but with a little bit of hp and resist added I could take a hit without dying. I'd try to leave venom hydra on his location when he casts his projectile but sometimes you won't do enough damage to the snakes without it.
It's harder to get a 'rhythm' going in part II unlike part I, but still possible. Part III begins at roughly 20% hp (not exactly sure)
Part III doesn't really need an explanation, just dodge everything (simple right). I dunno why but I've found that walking counterclockwise around the ring makes it much easier to dodge any of his arm attacks (unless you mess up, you shouldn't need to teleport out) Just run back the other way and give yourself more room to walk counterclockwise when he finishes an arm attack sequence. You can teleport or diamond skin the breathe (depending on your resist you might want to be at full hp with DS if you want to take the hit) or just stand to the side and avoid it entirely if your position is good. Have fun dancing when he lights up the stage, so to speak.
Or, you can farm up items and gold and get enough DPS to do what above poster does in his video. I imagine AO is much better for downing adds and Phase 3 than blizzard, although I think blizzard is a much more reliable cc mechanism.

Never underestimate how overpriced legendaries can be, I'm sure you can sell it for a lot more than you technically should ^^

I just beat Belial using your strategy, but I put magic weapon on my bar instead of slow time. With that I had 37k dmg but only 20k life and about 200-250 all resists. Phases 1 and 2 are a joke with that kind of dps. You throw down hydra and make sure everything clumps up, spam arcane orb and they all die. During phase 2 I would just go balls out on Belial and diamond skin when I run out of arcane power to just melee him. As long as he stays in the venom pool he'll die no problem. During my winning attempt only about 4 adds spawned in phase 2.
Phase 3 is another story entirely. It's like 30% luck as to whether or not you're going to get good spawns on the green orbs, but you can mitigate it by never going to the sides of the platform unless it's absolutely necessary. I also have about 400 ms delay to the US server from Korea which lead to a lot of agonizingly dumb deaths where I was way clear of the fist.
Anyway, that fight all comes down to damage. It's a hard gear check.

Unless my eyes deceive me, that weapon has int and no dex, making it pretty shitty to sell. Keep it for yourself.

He definitely has some sort of pattern in phase 3. The pattern I remember most vividly (it's been a while since I did him) is if you start in the centre, he will first slam to your left, then slam on top of you/to your right, then he will 2 fist slam around where he just slammed.

Uh, wouldn't that just make it a shitty weapon to use? The fact that it's legendary is enough for someone to buy it for more than it's worth, and then you can just use that money to get a better 2 hander. You could easily get better weapons for like what... 200k nowadays? Idk how poor you are, but if you can't afford a 400k-500k 2 hander I wouldn't be able to give you much advice. You can definitely find decent modifiers on those as well, and gain 200-300 DPS.
Also, was right outside the area for azmodan with 5 stacks when a fast, illusion, extra health teleporting thingamajig was there waiting for me. Had to leave the game. -.-
So, Improved Archon is godlike for doing butcher runs. I melt everything - i'm sitting at 44k dps, 20k HP, 200 resists. Certainly not viable in Act 2+ however.
Too bad the loot in Act 1 is so hit and miss, I sold an Andariel's Visage for 6 mill today though...
