I would suggest to party up for ubers. when you always freeze at least one of them, your party will have much more easy time to survive, so they can go more glass cannon than they could afford with both badasses running around (however you will most likely outdps every single one of them, so best to do it with another cm/ww wizards ). if you do it right, you permafreeze both ghom and rakanoth, so only two gas clouds during encounter. when doing kulle and SB, aim to lock the bigger of them. i dont have problem with kulle running around but idea of angry drugged up SB charging and often oneshoting three of partymembers is scary (and with perma diamond skin, you dont have to worry about his reflect). just switch slow time to teleport, as when you get yourself into kulles bubble without teleport, you will most likely end up dead. that can be applied to third ones too. dodging arcane sentries and those !@#$ butterflies is imho necessary, only thing you have to pay attention to is skeleton kings walk. jesus christ, that is like the worst thing in all game, when i "fall asleep" and dont teleport away in time, i end up dead (you cant freeze him once he decides to do that walk)

I didnt play D3 for a long time and decided to give it a shot again. so i sold my old items (that were terrible now obviously...) and got about 8 million gold for it.
I wanna start a Wizard and have a few questions:
What are the most common builds? Especially for low-mid level gear, trying to beat the game first of all in mp0 (this didnt exist back then even^^)
What items should i focus on with ur suggested build? crit% and crit dmg? int?
Any "cheap" legendarys that are very good for my low budget?
Help would be very much appreciated!

Cdxliv, a popular streamer just created this guide for Wizards which is made for people with lower budgets: http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/149sfc/educational_monday_budget_wiz_20_results_and_vods/

thanks, thats pretty cool.
is there any build that uses venom hydra and not archon or energy twister?^^

Keep in mind that there is a pretty significant price difference between EU and US AH.
I'll be using the guide cdpham posted too btw.

Venom hydra no, but their is a Orb/Arcane Hydra build.

How much "actual" CM/WW DPS will I lose if I switch a 256 Int Storm Crow with one that has 5% CC instead!?
Can't decide whether or not it's an upgrade or a downgrade. I really need the DPS but if it's just paper then I guess the CC is more useful.

Would be an upgrade ofc by far. More procs = more dmg over time. More proc = more apoc = more tornadoes :D

I think how much it helps your dps actually depends on how good your AP sustain is. If you're already at the point where against a single target you are never low on AP, then I don't think boosting your crit chance actually does that much, since it doesn't gain you any twisters (it will gain you a few more explosive blasts/diamond skins).
However, that requires a pretty high gear level already, so in almost all cases the crit chance is worth it even if you lose paper character sheet dps.

hm k thanks, i always thought venom hydra did a shitton more dmg^^

venom hydra used to be superior to other runes, but after skills were buffed it equalized and now arcane deals more direct dmg. venom is better only against really high hp monsters.

also dont forget more cc = more shocking aspect procs = big damage boost.
here is the math for your apoc gains: 2.31 = 30 ticks 30/6(ww duration) = 5 ticks/s
proc rate * cc * apoc * ticks sec = av apoc gain per target and twister
0.125 * 0.475 * 20 * 5 = 5.94
the consensus in battlenet forums is that around 7.5 is about enough but more is even better for more wormholing and faster spinup. but this math doesnt account for shards or eb procs and they like to high ball a bit. with my experience id say some less is required, when i was at 7 it was already sweet.... now im at 8.5 and it is much better though.
so yeah that cc for you is a must have.

COOL
From my calculations even with 300k dps archon mode, I get more experience per hour on MP0
|
kiwi, how can that be? at 200k dps everything just melts at the touch of the beam at mp2, only exception is elites which take like 5 sec to kill. so at those dps levels more dps isnt gaining you more time its just the travell time really. wouldnt a bonus to xp be more beneficial?

Out of curiosity what xp per hour do you get?

I am afraid NO, this is not the case. Even at 300K DPS, MP 0-1 provides more XP/hr than anything else.

on MP2 I get bout tree fiddy
MP1 I get bout 65-70m per hour
MP0 I get always more than 70

MP0 I get always more than 70 what have you determined is the most efficient route? i use a modified alkaizer route, but think i have modified it too much as there are some lulls.

I do like alkaizer but I have added skycrown battlement and rakkis crossing
|
And also btw I think i just found a build that give more experience per hour than archon, but it require pretty good gears
