Otherwise you can search for resist gear...but to not get one shot you'll need about 400 resist,3.4k armour and 28k hp( thats what I have, I can just about survive his hook and smash move).

What are ur suggestions, should I keep going with this glass cannon build or start adding resists and armor I am so fucked right now. What is your dps anyway? I feel like Butcher is super easy as long as you know when he's gonna attack.

I don't think you need quite that much defense to survive. I believe the first time I killed butcher I had about 33k hp, under 3k armor and less than 50 all res. That should be just enough to not get one shot by his chain, which is the most dangerous for DH imo. If you get hit and live, use a healing well ASAP and you should be fine. Hook and charge are easy enough to dodge and if you get hooked you can smokescreen before he smashes you. I would just reccomend buying blues/cheap yellows with dex/vit and maybe atk speed on gloves/ring/ammy if you can afford it or instead of dex/vit.. I think you can find gear with enough dex/vit to get those stats and still do 20k+ dps without sharpshooter for well under 500k total. A 9XX dps 2h crossbow should cost you about 250k, and that is more than enough to kill butcher. Edit: I also highly reccomend getting +8-10 max disc on your quiver and chest.

Not much, I'm actually quite gold poor, cause I gamble a lot in crafting. Some of it I found/crafted, some of it I bought..the highest I spent on a item was 25k. This stuff was bought when glass cannons were in, now I think the tanky gear costs a bit more, but if you look around a bit you will find good deals. Dont be afraid to mix in high value blues in your gear. They cost very little (less than 10k for 500 armour, 120 dex and 79 resist) but boost specific stats that would otherwise cost you a lot in a combination. You could make up for the other stats elsewhere.

I've found a build that I really like. I've been using it for farming Act 1 inferno and grinding through act 2 and 3. LC: Hungering Arrow: Devouring Arrow- Single target dps and for bosses RC: Evasive Fire: Covering Fire- Does enough aoe to clear packs of trash mobs and good when attacking 2 or more enemies. 1: Spike Trap: Scatter- The burst damage and hatred dump. Really good to kite elite packs with or to help clear and area with more aoe. 3x275% weapon damage is so strong. Does ridiculous damage when you have your crit at full from sharpshooter. 2: Smokescreen: Lingering Fog- Must have for kiting and surviving. 3: Preperation: Battle Scars- I like the heal when fighting reflect damage packs or when I need to heal up after taking a big hit. I have enough survivability now not to get one-shot generally so this helps. 4: Chakrams: Twin Chakrams- I only have this skill for fighting invulernable minion packs since it passes through the minions and hits the yellow mob. Placing spike traps under the yellow mob works too. Passives: Steady aim for dps, sharpshooter for dps, and tactical advantage to kite more when smokescreening. I've been using this build almost exclusively since the NT nerf and I like it a lot. I find the spike traps really good for champs/elites and hungering and evasive fire take care of the trash. You almost never run out of hatred since the spike traps use 30 and you only place them every 2-3 seconds at most. Usually you regen 30 in that time from you base regen and a few basic attacks.

Heres a total image. ![]() (Click on for bigger picture) Obviously my crit rate, crit damage and attack speed is disgustingly low for someone whos supposed to be a DPS, but since I have 30k flat damage I think Im doing ok in Act I. My defense is OK for Act I, Im not going to tank but I can take a hit or two from elites, but Act II is a total nightmare for me. My skill build is this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#fQXYlV!aYe!bbZZbb FOR SOLO. My main damage is simply to use Evasive - Covering, while multishot - Supression serves as a way to regenerate discipline when fighting elites. The rest don't really need explanations. So here you go, TL demon hunters! Where should I start upgrading first? (I have 1 million in the bank, but this is irrelavant as I play on Asia and AH is a bit different price wise - I.E. Inferno mats sell only for 1000-1500 tops) I wont be selling this stuff as the magic find is awesome (I dont like to switch on kill).

All you have to do is have vit gear for butcher so you can have enough health for one chain attack. Once you do that its easy.

Yeah, 25k is safe but thats with resists, and sometimes he still hits 28k. Have 30k flat at least and you'll be perfectly safe. However, 90% of the time the Butcher only uses the chain attack right after he charges and is stunned, so as long as you SS it should be fine. Other times are when you are around half screen distance and no one is there to distract him IE mercs. I still SS right before he chains just to be safe, tho I can take a hit.

Anyone on US SC, there's a 144 dex, 64 vit, +socket helm for 55k right now. Go pick it up.

I have found no particular time in which he uses chains. I have had him use it as his first ability after chasing me around a bit (he was around 70% health), have had him use it before a charge, after a charge, after his hook misses me... seems completely random to me. Was the single most aggravating thing ever when I tried to use a build as a glass cannon without SS.

Just put a topaz gem in the helm for magic find. Anyone on US SC, there's a 144 dex, 64 vit, +socket helm for 55k right now. Go pick it up. I really don't think having just one set of gear is ideal for both farming/MF and DPS. Pretty much every upgrade with 2 of (dex, vit, all resist) are very cheap <10k or <50k depending on the gear. So to get more dex I don't think it'll be too costly. You really gotta decide where to go with this though. Crit chance could up your DPS by a lot but you only have 8%, and it doesn't look like you're getting Natalya's set (2 pieces = 7% crit chance). B/c you like using a 2 hand bow (so do I), you could forego all IAS upgrades aside from your quiver as the net gain is very nominal. Instead, work on your crit chance and dmg.

SS every other time he raises his arm. Use Frost Arrow to keep him on your screen but unable to melee you. It's very easy to just kite at the last second for his melee attacks. No need to stand a screen away.

If I just search for 2handed x bows lvl 60 in AH, it comes up with 45 pages of mainly ultra expensive bows that also have much higher dps than I would want right now, am struggling to get a bow for inferno act 1 because of this... Set the maximum buyout.
