It's not worth the huge loss in DPS to have a very small chance of getting a less than optimal rare from a regular mob. I'd rather clear everything quickly without dying too often due to lack of dps(DH's are pretty fucked once they are out of discipline, which is solved by bursting down elites quickly).
Sure I'd love to have a permanent 200+ mf set, but to have that and still have a high DPS capable of clearing inferno 3/4 quickly would cost 100+ mil for a full set. I'd rather just pay 500k or so for a 250+ mf set and put it on before killing loot mobs, it seems to be working pretty well so far (:
I don't buy the white mob drops rares like candy argument at all, they have such a low chance of dropping rares at 0 mf, that by tripling that chance with 200 mf, you still won't get very many.

Watch some high level Demon Hunters play. Loot explodes all over the screen nonstop. Yes its ilvl 63. You can get 63's from pots and basic chests. MF affects those as well.
Im just saying your DH is never "finished" until you complete the trifecta of Magic Find, Damage, and Survival. Rolling DH sort of makes survival and damage in the same category. Thats why DH is easy modo.

Yes with easy easy to use 3rd party programs that help you hotkey things (or macro's that hit things on your screen for you), but Blizzard has a pretty clear hardline against these things. That being said Blizzard has no practical way of punishing this.

Can someone tell me how many life and resi i need for act3 Inferno??

As glasscanon, nothing above base.
If you plan on tanking some hits with shadowpower/gloom instead of mobility, I'd say at least 40k/400res.

As a hardcore mode player, I do not feel safe enough for all of a3 yet with my 600 all res, 43k life, 4,2k armor. Would only do it with a Barb+Monk party (then the 600 res become 1000 and the armor 5k). Even then I'd be scared of lashers and phasebeasts. I think I can reach ~55k life with the same mitigation values by swapping 2-3 items, once I find upgrades for my weak slots (Shoulders, Helmet, Rings).
Patch without coop mob dmg increase would help a lot though.

Increase travel distance while stutter stepping.

I thought the standard build was kill everything in 6 smokescreens and not moving an inch until tanking up a bit becomes viable xD

You can't SS has a 3 second cooldown and a 1.5 second duration now.

If you had "average" gear in all slots and were looking to spend all your money to upgrade one piece, what would it be and why?
Wondering what would be the most cost efficient upgrades to get in general. (this is not for me specificly, more a discussion question I was wondering about.)

It's 2 seconds, and it's definitely still possible since you often don't get hit in the .5 second window because a lot of enemy attack animations take a moment to go off. But don't expect to live if you're sitting in a molten pool or a soul lasher pack.

Weapon should be the most potent.

and even if they do you should have a reasonable chance to dodge it.

Wondering what would be the most cost efficient upgrades to get in general. (this is not for me specificly, more a discussion question I was wondering about.) I think weapon and dex pieces give the most linear upgrades. It's really cheap to pick up blue attack speed+dex jewelry, but it gets expensive to upgrade them past that.

Funnily enough, right after I posted I killed a soul lasher pack without dying by doing this =.=

I'm sure this is somewhere in the thread. But I have a DH friend who's not sure why they nerfed SS. I play a Barb so I have no understanding of DHs. I was just wondering if someone could explain the abuse that caused it to be nerfed so I could explain it to my friend. Thanks!

You just spam SS because the cooldown is really short. When it was 3 seconds, you could chain them with no downtime and get 18 seconds of invulnerability.

and with multishot runed for discipline you could get even more.
