it is extremely easy to cover your screen with chakrams after you get the first rune for it (double chakrams). multishot isn't useful until you can get its first rune.

Both Elemental Arrow and Rapid Fire seem to be very efficient hatred spenders. I'm taking frost arrow rune for EA for the slow; for RF I have 2 choices: withering fire which has great synergy with constant vaulting every few seconds, but web shot also seems great. Entangling shot gives a good and spammable slow for the times I run out of hatred. I also take Smoke Screen since my disc spending will be low and it gives a great escape (when vault is not enough) and the rune gives me a way to convert excess disc in hatred for more damage. Prep + battle scars gives me a heal which i would otherwise lack, as well as allow multiple back to back smoke screens. Could be changed for something like companion or turret. Passives are easy to guess: archery is a solid damage increase, CtW will always work with slows on possibly every shot and steady aim should again have great uptime thanks to slows+ constant vaulting. Oh and with slows being applied so frequently the reduction in cc duration on inferno should not be that noticeable. The low level requirements mean i will have plenty of time to practice the build before i actually get to Hell or Inferno. how do u have 3 skill for discipline?? my 3rd skill cant choose Preparation.

edit: also, because chakrams cost half the hatred of multishot (a quarter, if you don't use the half-cost multishot rune), i really don't need to use punishment to replenish hatred, which frees up an extra skill slot for whatever.

I have smokescreen to get away and impale to blow all my hatred if I'm getting chased. I can't wait to get elemental arrow and the overpenetration rune for impale. at level 20 i basically used hungering, rapid fire (single targets), double chakrams as the big AOE spender, vault to get away, and caltrops.

Yes they recently doubled the hatred cost for multishot iirc specificly to nerf the discipline for hatred build. I do however feel that multishots damage is too weak now to warrant the high cost. Chakrams are just stupidly cheap and can be spammed without thought. Multishot is however faster and has a longer range but thats about it. I feel it should be atleast 200% weapon damage to warrant a 40 hatred cost. I do have to say i like multishot over chakram though and i actually use both atm in act 2 normal. Mostly to save time since i toss out a few chakrams then 1-2 multishots to finish them off quicker. My one tip for anyone levelling however is once you get the first bola shot rune, use bola shot. It just easens up levelling tremendously compared to spamming hungering arrow. I actually had both up for a while and used hungering for kiting and bola for everything else.

Caltrops with the 80% slow rune is just stupid good. Saved my ass against annoying elite packs so many times. Also which weapon type are people leaning towards? Im loving dual mini crossbows due to the fast speed makes it extremely easy to kite. But for instance i see some streamers run around with 1hand xbow and shield. Is shield worth to warrant the DPS loss? Thoughts?

I can see situational uses for elemental arrows (like narrow corridors or vs Wall) or boomerang chakrim, but twin chakrim is one of the godliest aoe abilities in the game. You don't *need* these abilities, but they're powerful and versatile skills that can go into most builds.

for hatred gain which is hardly ever need (playinng solo) because elemental arrow is so cheap, i use bola shot with the 35% stun rune. i love that free stun vs bosses sometimes, even though the dmg isn't that great.

For reference, my build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#bcdYgQ!Ybe!ZaZZaa All of my slots besides Rapid Fire/Multishot are based around survivability just in case, but in practice, it's just Multishotx4 then maybe Caltrops+Rapid Fire for something tough and collect. For my gear, I'm using a weapon with +30% crit damage and various crit enhancers to get my crit chance up to 15%. The crit+Shadow Power+Impale is real good on bosses too.
