How can that be true? Of course, if you have enough money to always buy a 800+ life on hit weapon, then you're not going to get close with lifesteal, but more affordable pieces that still get you valuable life per hit have a place imo. E.g. there are quite a few 3% lifesteal weapons around that are affordable with decent dps. If your character hits for 10k per swing that's 300 life on hit, and I think most players past Inferno Act 1 hit for more than that. If I have WotB up I crit for 40k at a very rapid pace (and I still have crappy equipment, lots of places to improve), which makes 3% lifesteal basically 1200 life on hit, which is insane for nuking down champs and elites.

No, if you have 3% lifesteal, and hit for 10000, you won't get 300 back. You'll get 60.

That doesn't make sense. 1% of 10000 is 100 (10% would be 1000.). 3% lifesteal -> 3 * 1% -> 300?
Or is there some special arithmetic involved that I don't know about?
edit: oh... that's what you meant with the 80% effectiveness reduction in Inferno. OK

hey guys
I, as a barb, have 20% melee damage reduction on belt, 4% on chest and 4% on bracers.
It should add up to 28%, shouldn't it? Ingame it displays 26,27% reduction. How come?

100% - (100% - 20%) * (100% - 4%) * (100% - 4%) = 26.27%

thanks for the fast answer, 28% would have been too op anyways

Can anyone tell me how to reset the respawn timer to 3 seconds? My guess is to stay alive for a certain amount of time but unsure.

Lifesteal is just garbage. Lifesteal CAN be worthwhile in the context of builds using AoE abilities that have poor Life on Hit ratios (Life on Hit is reduced by a certain ratio for each ability--AoE abilities tend to have poorer ratios). You get full lifesteal value from AoE abilities.
It's why Seismic Slam Barbarian builds tend to favor Lifesteal over LoH. Slam has a very poor Life on Hit ratio, and does a lot of AoE damage.

Hey guys,
I just wanted some clarification on how Critical hits works in D3. I know in D2 it only applied to physical damage.
I play a witch doctor so would a critical hit simply mean that my spell (ex. splinters, bears, etc) would just do double the damage on a hit? In which case, it'd be better to fill the socket in with a emerald (crit) than ruby (dmg) for a weapon, correct?
Thanks

Alright, there's something that's really pissing me off. There are mortars elites that are just so damn annoying as a WD. No matters what the others affixes are, the main boring thing remains the mortar. Is there anything so that i can mitigates those damage or something i can prevent it ? Having to hit them very far is really a pain in the ass. Keep in mind i use a Splinters Dart's build with 5 CCs and it's still annoying. I've 30k dps 32k hp and in Inferno.
Does fire resistance help against them ?

Legendary filter+the level requirement of the item and leave it on "all items."

Does fire resistance help against them ? They piss me off so bad too. Up at the top of the list, together with invulnerable, shielding and fast. This sounds stupid but works: stand right next to them behind a fetish army. Mortar has a minimum range, you can spam darts without running around if you engage well.

mortar does have minimum range and the ai bugs out when you get into it. its kinda funny tbh

Can a templar's heal be improved by giving him INT gear?

When looking at a weapon's stats page, is the DPS number only based off of the weapon's base damage, or does it include "bonus damage" or "elemental damage", dexterity etc as well? What is actually included in this number?

So things like + Damage and higher attack speed are included in the DPS stat, but Dex/Str/Int aren't.
