If it is, will it still use up a character slot? I quite like the idea of being able to see my old dead chars from time to time but don't want to waste a slot on them. Sorry to ask again but does anyone know?
Give me a minute, I'll go check.
EDIT: I died, and there is a button in the character selection labeled "Archive Hero" and the tooltip says something about it being remembered in the Hall of Heroes. You have to be level 10 to use it though, can't be asked to level one to 10 to try it out at the moment but I guess the character will disappear from the character menu and can be viewed in this Hall of Heroes.
EDIT: Actually it's Hall of Fallen Heroes.

Are we able to create our own chat channel i.e. a Team Liquid one? Would greatly help LFG. Also would it be worth making a list of TL gamertags here?
In D2 I communicated with pretty much everyone in my frields list as if it was a chatroom, not sure if anyone else did that.

How much data will I have to download, if I've preloaded what it allows?

There's no private channels yet.

It's going to be similar to Starcraft II launch where you will just download a small patch.

Aside from dyes, is there no difference in gear appearance besides the level of the item?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean will the same piece of armor, but with 2 different sets of affixes have 2 different appearances? In that case I believe the answer is no, they'll look the same, with a few exceptions, notably elemental damage affixes on weapons.

Unique and/or set items might have different appearances from the base items. I'd wager they will.

I'm really sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. So while I was playing during the open beta weekend, D3 lags so much that I only got to try 2 classes and failed to kill SK with both(like one second, I have 70% hp, then a second after, I have none), and I know it's because of my crappy internet connection and unsupported video card. My question is, I'm going to buy D3 along with a new computer that can play the game smoothly, but with my crappy internet, would D3 still lag(like the animation is stuttering or something) or will it run the animations smoothly with just delayed action and reaction due to high latency? Anyone who is in that kind of situation? EDIT: Speedtest result
![[image loading]](http://www.speedtest.net/result/1923752685.png) So, is internet speed a factor of the animation too or not?
EDIT: Thanks to those who responded!

It just depends on how crappy your internet is. Give us a number with your upload/download speed from a site like speedtest.net

Is there no way to assign Auto-Attack? like I have weapon I'd love to see my WD swing rather than throw can of spiders/poisen dart. (may not be better mind you but still)

If you have elective mode on, you can hold shift and drag your primary attack off the bar - it will be replaced with auto attack.

Also - does anyone think stacking up +exp gained gear during the first leveling through normal is a good idea?

If it's a percentage, absolutely. If it's a flat value, probably not.

All gear I have seen its been flat value, and in character screen there was +xp/monster kill, but not +%. First tier of craftable gear I got something like +6xp/kill for single item, but didn't look how much you get per monster kill.

It should be enough; properly coded games use very little bandwidth capacity (something like 5 kb/s).

Latency to the server might still be a problem though. It is more important in these cases than speed, and can make or break an online experience completely. Unstable latency is the big culprit. If you have a stable latency of 300ms it is playable, but if it keeps jumping up and down it will be a nightmare, at least it was in my case (I used a mobile broadband connection for awhile before getting cable).
A new computer will probably solve the animation stuttering and FPS lag in general though.
