these maps would be a massive improvement over what we have atm. glad that steppes of war, blistering sands and delta quadrant are porentially going. i personally hope jungle basin is the other map to go.

Just played some on Tal'Darim altar -- reminds me of longinus a bit and seems pretty nasty for zerg. Seigeable nat, tight chokes on nat both between main base and between nat and 3rd so toss can cannon rush painfully and forge fe easily and terran can bunker your choke pretty painfully.

Terminus Re on EU server is bugged - returning 10 minerals each trip when mining.

Edit: Same goes for Aiur Garden ... Is this only happening to me?
Edit2: Nvm seems i was playing the wrong ones, somone named "Tunneltraxx" are putting ones up that return 10 minerals per trip..

I played on a few of these and here are my thoughts:

Auir garden seemed pretty cool, but I did not like some features on Tal'Darim altar. The ramp is too wide for a single forcefield, and even wider with the destructible rocks on the ramp destroyed. Stalkers can blink over the gap, if you were to double forcefield. You can build on the narrow point of the choke with the rocks, so you could pylon block it with two cannons and cannon contain.

Wonder whats going to happen with this in the future. Will blizzard introduce maps gsl uses into the map pool? Will blizzard keep their map pool, thus rendering the rankings useless in time, because of imbalanced maps? Will another server like iccup develop so a ladder with gsl maps is used? If blizzard maps stay this bad, give it a few months and they will become far worse due to people improving and abusing them more, and ladder will be useless.

Certainly is about time, but get rid of Scrap Station! That map is too gimicky to be interesting.

I hope they disband the idea of putting Tal'Darim Altar in the GSL.
With no ramp and a choke at the main that is not blockable by 1 forcefield i think 4 warpgate all ins will be unstoppable (at least in PvP).

Given the fact that GSL and Blizzard generally speak to each other, I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard took their criticism in regards to the map pool into consideration. Hopefully that will result in some new maps coming out for the ladder as well.

Blizzard should either implement these (and other good maps such as ICCUP maps) to their ladder pool OR make 2 different ladder map pools and have players choose which map pool they want to play on.

1. The normal one that will barely change like with any other Blizzard RTS.
2. The competitive one, which will change frequently and implement these type of custom maps.

This would allow pro players to practice on ladder and other random people to play good maps as well while still keeping the normal ladder pool for people who prefer it (IE nub friendly).

I'm aware it would split the community a little bit but I think it's safe to say 99% (or just 100%) of the competitive community would be playing the second map pool.

I think Blizzard should just give the people what they want and get rid of maps like DQ, Steppes, Blistering.

they all look kick ass exept for Aiur garden. The super safe in base seconds like that make for silly games, they almost always come down to 2 base timing pushes.

Biohazard would be disgusting vs a Terran. Having walls enclosed around the expo AND a cliff would provide easy harassment from tanks. >.<

i vote that tal darim alter does not go into pool i like the air garden alot it lets zerg surround protoss to use chokes and terran to use cliffs it will make fun games for sure
