Nope. It looks way better when u play the map instead just look at it. There are plenty of good concaves u can make. I love the map and Im Zerg.

Definitely better map than both Delta or Steppes.


I have played many games on Crossfire and I can definiatly say that Protoss will rape zerg on it. I played vs someone today many times and stalker immortal balls are IMPOSSIBLE to break on this map.

I haven't played them yet, but I'm a little apprehensive about these maps as a zerg player.

Aiur Garden: The free natural and need to kill rocks to take the third. If a P/T FEs then the zerg has to make units to kill the rocks to keep up reducing drones more. It seems to me like FE -> 2 base timing attack vs zerg will be very strong, the zerg has to take a third to be equivalent in macro and has to cut drones to do so. And if you look at the third, it's in a little enclave which looks like it will be hard for runbys, especially with proper wall off between the outer mineral patch and CC, while fairly good for drops because of the space.

On Biohazard... those look like droppable cliffs on everything except main bases and the golds...... yeaaaaaah.

They are better than JB/steppes/DQ though.

Edit: So yeap, I tested Biohazard and siege tanks can get in range of the natural and gas lines but not mineral lines from cliff, tanks can get everything on the third from the cliff though.

Isn't the first map eexactly like Delta Quadrant? We still have the same problem and if you ask me only problem of Delta Quadrant that depending on where you spawn youyour backdoor expo can be abused so much more easily then on other spawn. And this map is exactly the same.

why are the GSL maps be overrun with rocks? To me it seems horrible for zerg having rocks everywhere. Its unnecessary clutter.

My main concern is what would happen to the 'official' ladder, as in would blizzard update it to correspond with GSL or not.

Finally GSL is taking action to change the awful map pool currently. Hopefully these new maps work out really nicely and make Blizzard take action to not only have a better ladder map pool, but to balance the game around these maps rather than balancing the game around maps like Delta Quadrant.

You know you love starcraft when you are genuninly excited about this update. I've played crossfire a few times with a friend and i's quite a fun map. Can't wait to get my hands on the other ones and take them for a spin!

Everyone prepare for Day[9] to dedicate a daily to the new maps that actually make it in, or if he is baller enough, look at the maps and say what he likes and not likes and talk the races and what they could do on the map and which ones he would like to see in there and the ones he doesn't with his usual obvious SC2 wisdom and why.

Then after posting let the GOMtv people totally not watch it or listen to what he has to say. But behind closed doors, they totally will lol
If I keep making drones and expanding while fending off their attacks, I'm sure to win...right?

the maps that have rocks for 3rd and 4th expansions are perfectly reasonable. The surface area on the rocks are really quite huge, you'd be surprised how fast the rocks go down to a full zergling surround. I played Auir Garden and the rocks aren't an issue, there is plenty of time to destroy rocks after your 2nd base is saturated.

The difference is the rocks are located at the front base rather than the rear. This allows for Zerg to prevent Protoss and Terran from grabbing a free 3rd base (though the free expo is still a big issue) as well as allowing for zerg to grab a safe FE rather than having to defend the frontal expansion.

There's also longer rush distances and no backdoor drops/cliff abuse.

I tried these maps and they are pretty good but definitely don't have that blizzard polish. It would be nice if the GSL submitted the maps to blizzard for their review, and then Blizzard put them up for the public ladder.

Nice, good to see some custom maps in the GSL rotation, hopefully Blizzard will allow other tournaments to use custom maps too.

Eventually no one will even want to ladder on b.net due to shitty map pool... and EVENTUALLY there will be another ladder instead of b.net ladder (think iccup and bnet1.0)

Maybe GSL will break ties with Blizz and go on to be a PIRATE SERVER!!!!!! lolol

That's a bunch of jiberish, I know. But yay for new maps! XD
