Then apparently Altar isn't viable for Toss because of the weird ramp, and Aiur has that weird isolated in-base second that is apparently very vulnerable to proxy air, but they should be more playable than what was lost. At least, Terminus and Crossfire look really good. opening taken str8 from bw, pretty cool

How can I upload these maps into my SEA server?
|
I know its doubtful, but I want blizzard to take these steps as well. I would love to play on these new maps but have them count towards my overall ladder score. Don't remove Steppes though, actually like that one

Has anyone spawns cross position of Aiur Garden? I played about 7 or 8 customs on it today and got spawned close position each time.
|
Holy shit the natural on crossfire is exposed. That's going to be fun vZ. Forge first does alright but it still feels so much more vulnerable.
I'm scared

how do you find these maps on the custome games list? it says "search for GSL to play" but there isn't a search option...
|
Just had a look over Aiur Garden and BioHazard.
Aiur Garden has some interesting features: - very thick line of side blockers, u can really hide stuff there. - 3rd/4th base blocked by rocks, but the natural very safe to get, maybe cause a problem for Zergs against FE-builds, because they dont have the units to counter expand early near them. On the other hand they expand far away because the maps are large. - Good positions for all races.
conclusion: Very neat map, Im gonna try to get some games played on it. It seems to be very good.
BioHazard:
Gold expansion without Gas is sth I dislike pretty much, because it favours the massive marine play A LOT. Also the 3rd is hard to hold against Collossi and Tanks, while again u can take far awy 3rds =/ First look didnt please me yet
@FoFO
Create a game, there is the search option

I just played a custom game on Aiur's Garden too, you can find it if you just search for GSL in custom games. I like the map. It feels like there is a lot of space which was actually a bit unnerving at first after being so used to games on small maps, but I think the map has a lot of potential to create good games.

No reason in the world to do that.
OT: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
That is all, thank you.

FINALLY! now...if blizzard sees how popular/balanced these maps are, maybe they'll implement them on ladder o.o *crosses fingers*
edit: and im 99% sure the 4th map is scrap. that map is trash.

It's pretty bad but not as bad as jungle basin.

after a couple of games on Aiur Garden i find the main to be kinda small.
|
sweeeeeeet. Awesome news, and I guarantee that people will start playing these maps to practice too.
Biohazard looks like it might have tank drops but not thor drops hit the expo, also smaller cliff compared to LT - it's all within range of 1 well-placed spine crawler. Pop an OL up there and a spine at the base of the cliff? I'll try this out.
What's the korean reaction to these maps? I assume it's positive.
I bet the 4th map will be either LT or JB! But just a hunch.

well, the biohazard pro VOD posted was boring like hell, 10 minute pure build up, unhindered expansions because distances are so long. Big balls clash. End. With those large maps the 200 supply cap will hurt Z a lot, because you cannot afford to have more than 3 expos mining, else you won't have enough supply for army. We'll likely see a lot of games were P and T will outmacro Z. Z is hurt most by supply cap because of weak units.

In BW the 200 supply limit was fine because of the rate of mineral collection on a single base. In SC2 you can mine like 2x the number of minerals making army build ups a lot faster. 300 supply cap would be cool , but imagine a 300 supply voidray/collosus/stalker ball. Unstoppable.

Hopefully the 4th map to go is jungle basin.
As for the new maps, the 4 player maps look amazing if you get cross spawns but just like delta and meta, most of them look like they will be absolute shit if you get close spawns.
I agree with many people, tho, that even if these maps aren't much better, the mere step of going away from what Blizzard has is a step in the right direction. If Blizzard didn't believe all the people who said their maps are shit they should now.
Edit: Oh shit it's crossfire. I hate that map. Terran can basically protect FOUR bases, including a gold, at a single choke. That watch tower covers all those areas, put a few tanks at that tower and you control every path into your side of the map outside of drops/air. Going to be an air heavy map against terran.

Checked out the games, I really like Terminus Re however Biohazard still feels too small.

Played a bunch of customs on these maps and they felt alright, though a few games went to a stalemate where the limiting factor wasn't mins or gas, but rather supply. I saw two players spam ravens and infestors because turrets and infested terrans don't cost supply >.<

aiur garden was a lot of fun. played a few CG's on it last night. felt very SCBWish, great economies pumping units with lots of action and map control that mattered ie. being able to flank, run by etc. you actually had to pay attention to locations at all times as opposed to the crappy ladder maps that are so straightforward.
|
Just tried Aiur Garden.I loved the way it felt.enough space for zerg to flank but some chockes for the toss to FF.It reminded me of Triathlon ,not by it's shape but by the expo which is only accesible from the main.
I felt this way when i played the SC 2 version of Fighting Spirit.
So we got a start.A tournament is adopting custom maps. And not just any tourney. One which is directly related to Blizz.
Now we all just need all the expansions and the units and we're set ! :D
