Maps like jungle basin and steppes of war force players to come up with different strategies and make play a little more interesting. I believe that when this map pool is brought out, all games will become long macro games with little to no variety. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, however, it is entertaining to watch a few games on a map that is completely different. This is a joke, isn't it? The only thing maps like Steppes and Jungle (Steppes more so than Jungle) force is cheese. And cheese is, at least most people think so, NOT interesting.

You're not required to unlike in Steppes of All-In.

And as I mentioned before cheesing in the macro maps is a lot more fun since there is a much larger risk factor to it. Makes for some very interesting games then also.

-ICCUP maps being used seemed to be pretty fairly balanced, with maps that leave options to players for a more early/mid game approach - with the very likely possibility of a late macro intensive game -The new GSL maps are very aesthetically pleasing, but are a *possibly* being tested for FPS drop rates dealing with doodads and extras in the maps (ie Aiur Garden has a huge doodad in the middle that casts a warping style graphic) it's really not a big deal, just something to consider -The new GSL maps definitely persuade people to go into a more fast expansion/late macro type of game, offering atleast one to two expansions (depending of destructible rocks) I know the ICCUP reference has little to do here, they seem a little more viable to become a standardize map by Blizzard. just saying ;P But, the new GSL maps offer a decently new perspective to the original blizzard maps - creating a very very macro intensive game

I can't think of a single 2-player map in the current ladder pool that I like. Caverns is like the 2nd or 3rd best map in the entire blizzard pool. (its still got its problems though). Just like Meta is not really a good map either. Quadrant is a really really bad map. Especially for zerg. I thumbs downed that map like day it came out. There are so many reasons to list that I'm not even going to.
