Please keep the QQ to a minimum if you do not like this update. We are happy to hear your reasoning for not liking a ranked system, but no "OMG VOLVO WHY" posts. |

Yes that may(may !) be true but I would like my games to be decided by the average skill of the team not which team has the worst player, that would just mean you would have ~50% winrate depending on how much you get "the guy" on your team instead of your skill level compared to the rest of the players in the game It's not like the system tries to get an uneven distribution. If that does happen, it's either because there is a stack or because the search time was long. Or the "noob" just doesn't have that much worse MMR, it's often because of the variance in play, specially if he plays random or doesn't pay much attention to what he picks.
Like Alur said, sometimes your SF does this: http://dotabuff.com/matches/93893685

Superior moba is lightyears ahead of dota in QQing though, I believe that their experience in QQing and complaining about ranked are something we should learn from.
We should ban all discussions of "elo hell", "riot-approved meta", and also bans (apparently)
I guess LoL is superior if you're a 13 year old kid saving up money for the Xbox One. Glad to know you're happy where you are bro

After ranked\ my winrate drops from %51 to %50.5 over 2.4K games. Imagine you lose %80 of your games, it has happened and happening all the time.

The average skill of your team will almost always be higher if you as a player is actually playing at a level better than your own bracket. Either way, there are only 4 potential variables that you have on your team as opposed to 5 on the other team. So complaining about bad teammates is only a problem if you're consistently relying on getting carried by them

I've been told that Superior products cost more money than inferior products, it costs thousands of dollars to obtain everything pay2win in Superior moba while everything game-related in this Dota game is free, its pretty clear which game is for $$$master$$$ and which game is for people who are saving money for SuperiorConsoles like the Xboxone

I posted this in the GD thread but it probably belongs here instead.
Should I give a shit about my rating? Just had a losing streak in ranked and legit considered not playing the mode anymore. Ladder anxiety never really bothered me in Sc2 but in Dota the fear of getting a retarded team is getting to me.
Just play unranked? Don't give a shit about rating? trying to nip this in the bud before it ruins dota for me.

Ratings are largely meaningless, just relax and enjoy dota. Which incidentally makes most people obtain higher ratings in the long term.

Or they just outright don't care enough (hint, don't play ranked then). That is not 100% true at all. I have played in pub games where we put together a solid team and worked well. I have also played in a game where someone tried to "counter" with Warlock, "because of the heal" and yelled at me to 1v1 him when I said our draft didn't go late game. I have a friend who had over 1000 higher MMR(4000) than me and he says that he would rather me as a support than people in his MMR, because I am always willing to listen and follow up, even if I think it might lead to my death. Your ability to win a game has little to do with MMR or "skill" and more with your ability to work together and take risks together.
This. 100% agree.

If rating matters to you then your mindset should be focused on improving first and foremost. Ranked matchmaking in general has a more serious atmosphere so it's a good tool to use to improve game knowledge. If you lose, you lose, just think in the long term and try to improve with every game. Eventually your rating will rise if you tackle it in this manner.
I try to employ this mentality in every game I play when I feel like I want to get better. Rather than taking each loss as a demoralizing blow, just try to take what you can from it and play better the next game. Obviously you'll get unlucky at times with teams, but there isn't ever a game where you just couldn't play better. There are unwinnable games, but there are no games where you'll ever play perfectly.
Sometimes I ask myself, 'If I was Dendi/Burning/EGM/etc., could I have carried that game?' Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it's no. Whatever the case, I'm nowhere close to their skill level, so there will always be room for much improvement.
I'm very competitive by nature though, so I do get frustrated. When I feel like I've reached a certain threshold, I take a step back and take a break for a couple days to a couple weeks to just relax. Easing your mind does wonders for your gameplay. It is never a good thing to play consecutive games all tense and frustrated.
In any case, just work on improving, and instead of worrying about winning/losing, worry about your game. I assure you if you just focus on getting better, your rating will naturally improve. The people who are always slowest to improve are those who bitch and moan at every corner, for example those who don't play up to par because they're dissatisfied with a captain's draft or a teammate. Always play whatever you're given to the best of your ability. After we lose I might tell the captain his draft was ass, but from the moment the hero picks begin and until the match is over, I'll put on my game face and play. And if we lose, I just move on and try to play better the next game.
You'll hit many walls along the way. There are always giant walls in every competitive game, and if you can't overcome them you'll be stuck at around the same rating. To overcome these walls, typically you just have to hone some of your basics. In DotA2 the usual suspects are generally last-hitting, item choices, ward placement, map awareness, hero micro, movement, on-the-fly decision making, communication, and just carrying a tp. You'll be surprised how far you can go by just improving your last hitting and item choices.
It seems like you've hit one of those walls. Now it's time to just focus on improving until you can overcome it. And when you do, you'll notice things you never noticed before, and DotA will be that much funner.
Until you hit the next wall.

Not really an option, I'm not really a sociable person and I don't see it changing much so I am going to be solo queuing for the foreseeable future.

Baptizing yourself in the icy pits of the 9th circle of Garena EU Public rooms is a good way to get desensitized to everything Dota-related and people-related.
I have never ever played in a league or tourney or anything prior to Dota 2, I never read any forums or watched any pro games (heck in TI3 I only watched the finals) either. I played in Garena pubs for 6-7 years straight, almost everyday.
tl;dr: man up and play the game, it's the only way to actually get better.

You get use to it. Theres always the adjustment period when you drop down to that level. Then you realised you have to call more, talk about obvious things with your team and take charge and make the calls yourself. Then you start winning again.
It's more the initial shock to 3.5k thats probably making you lose, no one is prepared for that...

This is probably a pretty common problem, or at least I'm one of the people who have a hard time finding people to play with consistently.
