Yeah, based off a lot of my 5k+ friends opinions they are usually the blue player. tbh I'm usually the blue player too, and I'm just barely under 5k. 5 stacks mess it up though, because in a 5 stack it just orders you in the order of your party from the lobby. So the blue player is whoever made the party.

I'm not sure this is an argument? Do we have a reason to think that someone randomly getting the same relative mmr rating compared to his teammates several games in a row is any more or less likely than them randomly being assigned the same colour several games in a row? What I am trying to say is that even if colour was based on mmr it still doesn't make sense for anyone to be pink/blue more than 20% of the time averaged over many games.

at least in higher tiers, in lower tiers you should be blue/pink about 20% as you said

(which can be kinda abusable i guess)

Doesnt matter if you end up 21-0 or 0-21. Doesnt matter if you're support and you finish 5-1 and your carry is 0-5. Same crap. And how is this motivating/rewarding players for their efforts ? You still end up in the same queue with the feeders you had in the previous game because you lost the same amount of points and your MMR is the same. Rdiculous If you are genuinely better than the people you get matched with you will win like 70%ish of the games. Otherwise you are stuck on that rating for a reason..

Winn/loss is easy to calculate, skill however is not. I think u should generally not assume mmr means skillrating. Ofcourse for most there will some sort of correlation between the two, but a higher mmr then your friend doesnt say you are more skilled at all, it says your wins-loss ratio is better then that of your friend within the heropool you and he played. I myself would rate someone that plays random in ranked of higher skill then someone that doesnt if they would have around the same mmr. Thats why mmr is fine if its based on win-loss mostly. Because if the samplesize is big enough, u will see a pretty descent and accurate rating to give everyone a nice game of there skilllevel within the size of there heropool they like to play with. Even if they play random, or only 1 hero. MMR isnt there to give u a rating on how good u are compared to others, it exists to give u the most pleasant dotaexperience Valve can offer you, thats something totally different.

If you play a lot of games, you are going to have games where you can make a big enough impact. If you still can't pull off a win, then that just means you are not ready to go up in the ratings. I've had games where I was doing much better than my allies, but I also had games where I wasen't playing well, but still got carried into a win by my team. So I think it'll all even out in the end. EDIT : I had a lot of losses in my first 10 games, but after that I started focussing on one role, with 3 heroes that fill that role well. Call me tryhard or whatever, but since then my rating has gone slightly up. So you can definately have an impact, even if you feel like you have a lot of shitty teammates. I think the teammate excuse is a lousy one.
