I am top diamond on EU, never got to Masters T_T especially now my playing time has been drastically reduced. Since I joined Millenium I have no time to play anymore but I still watch as many streams as humanly possible. So I am pretty much a huge starcraft nerd, only I got tits, yeah... The rest are bad, I don't know how you come up with all these "good" female players.
scarlett is amazing and so is tilia but we are treading on some unsteady ground here right? from a physical standpoint they are men, they have brain functions men do BUT they identify with women? so does that give them biological similarity to women? im not educated enough in this field to say but nor are you and anyone else posting on this topic

Couple hundred guys on the internet "THE PEOPLE" does not make. The people you speak of don't even make for a very meaningful chunk of the SC2 audience.
TB is a premier SC2 caster, Wolf is in pretty good standing as well. The same people also complain about the Plott brothers not being skilled and knowledgeable enough, does that make them lesser casters, less popular or less in demand? Nope. Day[9] is probably more popular now than a couple years back when was much more in the loop as far as analysis goes. Even Husky could walk into any tournament's caster lineup.
You greatly overestimate the value of in-depth game analysis. Most people in the audience don't know enough about the game, don't pay attention or just don't really give a fuck about intricate timings and build nuances.
Even among the guys on your list, Artosis owes more than half of his popularity to being funny and goofing around with Tasteless, Apollo only got popular once he loosened up and became funny. In fact most of the people you listed as favorites are pretty fucking good as entertainers in their own right.
It's important to understand that people who complain about casters, regardless of gender, are going to do that no matter what. Most of them only do it to flaunt their own knowledge and (presumed) skill by pointing out that somebody who is being paid to commentate Starcraft is wrong and worse than them at the game. Ultimately it's just common gamer elitism that can (and arguably should) be ignored by everyone that matters.

I dont think female casters would be as entertaining if not considering their exterior.

From what I read, a women can not appear on stream without getting messages which have nothing to do with the game or the content they are providing to the viewers. They get this bullshit just because of the way they are born ! This is the problem, no male casters/streamer has to deal with this kind of bullshit and that's why we have to listen to their experience. It's great that some women can deal with this and still not lose their passion for the game and the community.
I would.

Wolf and Khaldor are professional casters at GOM, Totalbiscuit has a HUGE fanbase, DJWheat is eSports gold, DOA and Catspajamas was a fantastic duo, Husky has a ridiculously massive following.
A much tinier community complains about those guys than love them.
Heck, if your link is accurate, it takes silver league knowledge to a professional job as a caster.
Skill in the game is not what determines whether someone is a caster.
re: accuracy, You have to do a little accepting/believing some people have private smurfs (Khaldor, Tasteless, Day9 fall into this category by their own statements). Like maybe Khaldor isn't hardcore laddering but I doubt he's a silver league terran as that list would depict.
Skill and knowledge of the game absolutely determines how good a caster they are. Have you noticed how the gom stream destroys the official ogn stream in viewers for WCS KR?
And yes, the various esport personalities you listed are popular and that's what gets them gigs, because enough people like THEM enough to want to hear them talk - That number will tune in to hear them talk about anything, not just sc2. For big events they're important, they're hype men. But anyone can GET HYPE. Their commentary is usually atrocious and 100% reliant on the analysis person that gets stuck with them. I am so thankful that really sick observers like adebisi are in the scene, because events that use these casters, you're usually better off following the mouse cursor of the observer for play by play and commentary to get a good picture of the game you're watching. If you just watch the minimap you'll catch drops and attacks that the casters miss and tell you about a minute later ("WHOAH we missed a drop here it did some damage anyway back to the main army")
In the case of what I'd call a "good" caster though, neither is fully shoehorned into being play-by-play or analysis because they both know the game (and to some extent, each other) well enough to always have something insightful to bring to the table. They're well rounded, preferably have competitive experience, Have enough charisma to fill lulls and enough knowledge to call games without having to rely on a partner for half their job. A "good" caster can fill both roles. Your DJwheat, your TB, your Husky.. They don't stand alone very well, as much as we may love them. They can really only do playbyplay and really, almost anyone can provided they're used to talking/screaming for several hours at a time.
Which takes us back around to: What female progamers could even do one of these jobs, let alone both? There's all sorts of decent players from livibee to maddelisk to flo, They've never really come across as high energy charismatic people to me, but maybe they could show that if given the chance. The question is, could they do what Artosis does and fluidly transition between top-tier analysis, play by play and filler? I'd love to see a female caster who could do that. hell i would watch subtitled casts from someone like aphrodite, too. But pluck some random girl from the internet and throw her into that chair when she's gold league in SC2? Not a chance that I'll care, just like I don't much care when TB is casting either.

Nazca , the lady who posted above , you got any links to your casting ? The steroid thing I said is coz women just don't have the passion the blokes do , like Kevin knocke or Apollo or ToD , when something major happens and they are 'OMFG , he hasn't researched centrifugal hooks OMFG HE'S FUCKED '. Kinda passion. If they did and it wasn't grinding/irritating (squeaky voice) then it'd be fine ..... But yet to see that.

TB and Husky have a following that is very much used to them standing alone. It's a pretty large following. When it comes to actual events, nobody ever gets to stand alone anyway.
Arguably there's more people in the scene that can fill in the "expert commentary" slot than there are people that can fill in the color commentary slot. The scene revolves around the game and people who are really good at it are never going to be in short supply. You could have blade55555 commentate a game and you'd get pretty damn good analysis that would satisfy the vast majority of the audience's need for SC2 expertise.
What is in short supply are people who are talented at actual commentary and have the ability to keep the crowd from falling asleep or muting the stream in a 6+ hour long broadcast. So no, not "almost anyone" can do it - in fact relatively few people can, because it requires talents that are, unlike SC2 skill, not inherent to the scene.

Things like 'having a good voice' and 'charisma' are actually pretty important, and no offence to them but so many casting hopefuls just DON'T have them. The dynamic between a casting duo is pretty crucial too. Despite his famous lack of playing the game, I still love Tasteless and what he brings to the table in terms of getting the best out of Artosis, who in my view is not just a good caster, but is an all-round fantastic broadcasting talent.

For whatever reason females don't have the same interest in pro gaming. This. Why create issues where there are none? Any woman who puts enough work and dedication like the rest of the casters/players she WILL gets noticed, there simply aren't any and that's that. I swear topics like this are simply to stir a hornets nest of internet crusaders. If a woman encounters a stone wall of sexism in her path to becomming a caster/player, let her speak out and namedrop them. I'm tired of having others do the speaking for them....
The thread should have ended here considering the usual forum spammers turned up and from that point the results are predictable. If there is any real prejudice from people involved in the sc2 scene, let it be known, that goes for any kind of prejudice and I think most people involved with sc2 in some capacity would also like to hear if potential players/casters are genuinely being held back due to shady reasons.
Until that point all the naysayers are getting their information on the all so sexist sc2 scene from reddit and stream chats. Yes, the same places where pedo comments are thrown around like nothing and where Adolf Hitler is talked about like some sort of comedic hero. In other words if you are taking what a bunch of angsty adolescents and jokers goofing around online say seriously then its probably time to go outside a bit more often.

That's something I'd definitely call whoring for attention. So they have their face on their stream? I think you'll find most streamers do this, and these ones being female has nothing to do with it. You make it sound like girls shouldn't show their webcams in public, like some ridiculous middle east tradition where they don't let women do anything. You missed this part of his post. The point is that the girl and her face is the center of attention, not the game. He is not saying that they can't show their face.
We don't get to decide how much a person wants to express themselves. Tasteless doesn't even have to talk about SC2 for people to enjoy his casting as its become 90% "talk to me artosis" or "ask me a question" or "did you know (insert wiki fact)"
Some guys make jokes, other guys just want to socialize while playing video games. Them having different interests than you does not make what they do "wrong" in some way.

However, I can look at it and go "I'm not interested in that for the following reasons..." and move on from there. People have their own tastes and can watch whatever they want. I mean, Baywatch was the most popular show in the world for a very long time. SC2 is not going to be immune to the same things that made that show popular.
