That seems like his floor probably, yeah. Skilled forward who needs to be deployed in an offensive role to be successful. It is early enough it could change. Never know.

I still think it would be dumb to move him. His cap hit is still pretty low (2.9/2) for being a ~60 point player. Moreover, Bozak and Bolland should not be getting top 6 minutes. And the team's center depth sucks outside of them. It's not like they have someone playing wing that could easily shift to the middle.

I don't know why anyone can bash on Bozak, he's a faceoff man, he has chemistry with Kessel and JVR, he's almost at a PPG pace, and the Leafs won lots of games with him, he gets injured, Leafs lose a bunch, he's back, they're on a win streak.

He plays almost exclusively with Kessel and some other top winger on even strength, gets tons of pp time, but has never cracked 50 points. Yet he makes 4.2m for the next five years. Basically, he's a third liner with stone hands getting paid like he's a decent young second liner. That contract will never not be funny

Del Zotto just got traded for Kevin Fucking Klein because AV is one of those dickhead coaches who insists on putting players on sides they don't normally play on.

so fucking stupid. 23 year old former first, outside of McDonagh the only offensive threat from the blueline traded for a 29 year old generic stay at home defenseman.

The dumbest part about this is someone of DZ's skills should net more than a 29 year old third pairing guy.

Like if you're dead set on shipping him, temporarily play him over Staal on the second pairing, and feed him assloads of pp time. Instead, he lost some pp time, and was forced to play right side on the third or scratched.

WHY TRADE HIM AT HIS LOWEST POINT????

What they should have done was use their penalty free cutt on Richards this offseason to be rid of that awful contract, dangled MDZ and whatever else for a decent center, and sign a decent RD to play stupid ass third pairing minutes.
